    Bogner. Badlander has some odd stuff going on in the high end. Bogner is just smooth and fits right in.

  • @UncleYoshi

    The Bogner has more treble, less low end based on this recording. The Mesa Badlander is more focused in the mids and controlled. Stereo rig with these 2 amps would be Killer!

    They're dialled so differently that its hard to gauge much other than they're both capable of cool tones. Bogner is a bit too mid heavy to me, and the Badlander is WAY too scooped sounding here for my taste. Cool video none the less and very cool to hear these rad amps side by side!

      Uber is really versatile. Mids are probably due to settings. Depending on how you set up the amp it can be very mid-forward or scooped. Something as simple as changing the presence can change the voicing of the amp.

    I've been playing the Badlander since it came out, and have been holding off on buying more amps since then, but damn this comparisons makes me lean towards the Uber Ultra. Just has more bite and presence in the full mix. I wonder if the Badlander could've been dialed in a bit closer, with bold setting, maybe a bit more presence. Also, I don't hear that flubby low-end the old Ubers had at all.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  9 месяцев назад

      Honestly, both amps can get wildly different sounds than what I displayed here. The Uber more-so, I think. For a more in depth review w/knob twisting check out my other Uber Ultra videos, it might help to hear the array of sounds you can get.
      I think both amps can be dialed in similarly, but to me their voicings will always set them apart. They are still different enough to warrant spots in my collection. They're definitely both permanent residents!

    I picked up the badlander couple months ago. Im still loving it everytime I turn it on. Hugely matters what cab im running it into. Only negative is id like to have more gain on tap than not enough. It has plenty but i max it. Very articulate and the mids growl like crazy. Bogner is an amazing high gain head. Smokes the mesa in terms of aggression, gain and attack. Love to have both but happy with decision.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  10 месяцев назад +2

      Dude I know what you mean about the amount of gain on tap for the Badlander. I don't mind it as much, since a boost can help do some of the heavy lifting...but THE remedy is getting the legendary tones Mr. Scary mod. Gives you another gain stage while keeping all the articulation of not having a boost compress your signal. It's amazing fr. If you can swing the coin, I highly recommend it. I'm planning on doing a before/after video of it with my Badlander soon...ish lol (whenever I can get to it)

      I guess it depends on your flavor. Never played a Helios, and I dig the stealth, but I like palate that the Über offers.

    Both amps have very effective TMB controls that heavily influence the sound of these amps, and it sounds like you chose to scoop the mids of the Mesa and crank the mids on the Bogner.
    The amps here are dialed to sound so different from each other that it's kind of impossible to tell how they are voiced relative to each other.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  10 месяцев назад +1

      I actually had the mids pushed a bit on Mesa, close to 1-2 oclock if I’m remembering right. Generally speaking I was going for a cool sound from both amps, not necessarily trying to make them sound like each other. Thanks for listening!

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@sir.shreddington now that's interesting. Can you target a specific channel for that based on where you install the mod? I run the crunch channel and then hit it with a pedal up front but I would be down if I could run it dual channel but have channel 2 use the hot mod.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  10 месяцев назад +1

      @CaViTaTioNguitars it goes in the V2 preamp slot if I remember correctly off hand, so it affects the entire amp. It does something really interesting though, it feels like it gives you more head room. You can dial back the gain on the amp and push the mod a bit harder to give you more distortion but retain articulation. I also just found out that I can also use it on my Friedman SS100 so another video of that amp needs to be done too!
