Guys, I'm very aware that Clauncher is a Pistol Shrimp. In the video I was talking about a simple generic tiny shrimp Pokemon :) (Also I know the difference between a totem pole and a tiki. I literally don't know why I called a literal totem pole a "tiki")

BladeStormYT Xerneas is actually mostly based on Japanese portrayals of a 麒麟, or Kirin. Japanese legends about Kirin are typically showing it as a nature spirit or life spirit. For a good example, look at the forest spirit in Princess Mononoke.

Xerneas is also HEAVILY based on Yggdrasil and the deer found in its branches, though. Just like Yveltal is based on the eagle that lives atop Yggdrasil, and Zygarde is Niddhog, found below Yggdrasil's roots.
They're also conceptually pretty close to the Hindu gods, but design-wise they are heavily, heavily Norse.
also reminder that our first trailer view of xerneas was it standing in front of a giant tree which isn't in the kalos games at all
Hallebrije is so cool!!!!! I love the concept of it changing forms if the opponent is sleeping. You also really nailed the aesthetic of the alebrije statues!

Coco is literally based off what Ron based his Pokemon off of. Coco didn't create Mexican culture.

I personally love the idea of an alebrije Pokemon. I’ve always thought that an alebrije would make for a really cool object to base a Pokemon off of. I’m personally thinking of making one myself

7:46 I believe darkrai and cresselia (though it's a legendary) can already enter dreams. At least in Diamond and Pearl, you actually catch Darkrai in a bad dream.
Though the concept of a pokemon changing forms in dreams is new, and I do quite like the almost-pinata look Hallebrije has.

As someone who grew up in Orlando, I loved this video! Disney is a big part of my childhood, and Pokemon is one of my most favorite things ever. This is probably one of my favorite videos on your channel. Keep it up!

This was definitely one of my favorite Pokemon design videos. The contrast of seeing what inspired you/what you saw to the final designs of the mons was so good. Also Hallebrije IS INCDREDIBLE! Such a great culturally inspired Pokemon. I don't typically use legendaries in my game play throughs, but I'd definitely want this bb on my team!
These designs are absolutely AMAZING!
Ocion reminds me a bit of a Qwilfish and Masquarain.
Teroison looks great, love the spikey hair main . The face reminds me of those festival masks - particularly Nian style ones from Lunar new year. His puffed up body reminds me those festivals you see where multiple people are inside those lion / dragon like train things. I imagine he could easily be some kind of island guardian

Hallebrije is such an awesome design for a legendary. They can make a really good origin story around it.

A few ideas for places to get ideas for new pokemon:
1) Canary Islands
2) National History Museum
3) Anywhere in Scandinavia(Only if you are going to get a vacation there)

More great ideas for Pokemon inspired from things that could be found in Disneyworld:
1 - A tree-like Grass/Fairy Legendary Pokemon based on Yggdrasil from Norse Mythology
2 - An English and Chinese inspired rabbit-like Psychic/Fairy Pokemon based on the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland and the Jade Rabbit from Chinese Mythology
3 - A Dark/Flying evolution of Honchkrow based on a karasu tengu from Japanese Mythology and a ninja wearing a jingasa hat from Japanese media
4 - Multiple fairytale-esque Pokemon based on European fairytales that Walt Disney Pictures once made animated movie adaptations of them

I make Fakemon sometimes, and since I love sea creatures, I make a lot of water types.
My favorite line is the Spookrab, Spookastle, and Spoopalace evolutionary line, some spectral hermit crabs, that evolve into castles and palaces. Spookrab floats with a ghostly aura, while Spookastle cowers in his giant castle shell. Spoopalace finally becomes confident and becomes King of his palace. They have high defense and sp attack, but low speed and attack.
My second favorite is Mantimp, with his two forms, Punch and Spear, just like real Mantis Shrimp. Punch form is rainbow colored and has higher attack, speed, and attack stats. Spear form is yellow and blue, with higher defense, health, and sp attack.

I've not seen Coco, but I wouldn't be surprised that it looks like something from that movie since both the movie and the creature are based on Hispanic/Latin/Central and South American themes and beliefs and such.

Just a few notes on some things you said in the beginning, Slowbro is technically inspired by a hippo and Clawitzer is almost literally a Pistol Shrimp.
Ron, please make a video where talk about a post game mission where you can catch your mythical pokemo n. (Birdkeepertoby would be a great colab partner for something like that)

Lionfishes actually aren't shy at all, if you go scuba diving at night several of them will follow your lamp to find other fish to eat, they're pretty curious, they feel pretty confident that they will be left alone by other animals because of venomous spikes

A Pokémon region based on Mexico would be amazing. Aztec mythology is super rich and alebrijes would make an incredible legendary trio. Ron, as always, your designs are incredible!

I liked your last pokemon Hallebrije and its preveolution. THese pokemon are really creative. I would REALLY LOVE IT if GameFreak made a pokemon that was based off dreams, maybe looking like the one you made. Anyways, thank you for the video, Ron. I really love it when you do videos like these. :)

I've been making a region based off of different aspects of South America and considered making an Alebrije Pokemon and got really excited when you made one!!
I was supposed to go back in a few weeks but then the pandemic happened and I can’t go but this video helped me cope with my sadness. The Alola music really did remind of some locations at Disney World (Seafolk Village fits perfectly at EPCOT)
Normal/ghost type based on a round Chinese fortress/castle. It is the denial Pokémon, Sebag nis. It's ability, Mental Wall, makes it immune to special moves above 80 power and all status moves, but gives it a weakness to the steel type (the special resistance still applies).
Honestly, these videos inspire me so much! I personally love to draw, especially Pokemon, and this video series has helped me develop my creative skills and drawing abilities! (because I'm practicing them so much. Thank you creative juices!) Plus, they're very entertaining, I wonder what other designs you can come up with next? Keep up the amazing work, love your videos, my dude!
