With 7 layers of materials it sounds like the Sanctuary Bibs would be super warm. With that said, should you maybe be comparing them to the Sitka Incinerator Bibs? I have the older version of the Fanatic Gear and the older Incinerator Gear. Here in MN neither are warm enough for long sits in late season. The Heater Body Suit is the warmest thing I have.
I really appreciate how in depth you go with all your reviews, keep up the good work, you've got my sub! One thing for future videos is to possibly get some better close up shots of the material and features like pockets. I'm still on the fence about if I want to go with Sitka or First Lite for some extreme cold outer layers but I hope to have them before late season here in Iowa rolls around.
I’m 6’2” #225 and I just ordered those bibs in XL. After getting them in and trying them on and now seeing your video. I think I need to return them and get a XXL size. Like you, I wear 34-36 in waist (depending on brand) and a XL in all shirts. Thanks for the in-depth review. Very helpful.
I own the sanctuary jacket and its the best piece of hunting clothing I've ever purchased. Not only is it super warm but its so damn comfortable. I would highly recommend you save yourself some money and instead of going with sitka try first lite out. Just my opinion though.
I believe the company you were thinking of is Veil Camo. They do great work! Fusion and Cipher are exceptional patterns for a huge range of conditions. I love your review! I love First Lite’s whitetail gear, I think it’s highly underrated because they don’t market to whitetail hunters the way Sitka does.
How do the bottoms of the bibs compare to each other? Is one tighter around the outside of a boot than the other? I’d want to go around the outside of the boot.
How do these hold up durability wise against briars, thickets, and thorns? I’ve noticed a lot of the newer styles seem to have softer exterior layers. I want to replace my 20 year old cabelas Goosedown set but it’s a champ against thorns. I’d hate to drop 1k on a new system and have it get ripped my first time breaking brush.
I like your comments and opinions on here, the one thing is you never showed us the sides of the legs, or the legs at all. I really would have liked to see the whole bib rather than just the very top of it. Anyhow, thanks again.
Great review. Having used it this last season now can you speak to the tear resistance of the Sanctuary gear? I have seen a few reviews on the site mentioning this.
I think the tear resistance of the Sanctuary is similar to most insulated gear, meaning I did not get any tears or rips but I do think the outer fabric is not as durable as the Sitka. I believe it is part of the trade of for how quiet it is and for how well it breaths.
Great in depth review!! I’ve got a question about the sizing I’m 5’11” and weight 215 on first lites website they are currently sold out so the way you explained it is that their sizing has changed I also wear a 34-36 pants. So do you think when they get them back in stock should I order the xl or 2xl in the bibs? Thanks in advance for any help...
I just ordered a new pair of Sanctuary bibs to try out the newer sizing as well. I still think you will be a XXL but will be able to check within a day or two.
Thanks!! Yeah if you don’t mind once you get the new ones in if you could get back with me on the sizing comparison I’d greatly appreciate it. Also thanks for the response on archery talk also!!
I'm a bigger guy, 6'5", and normally wear 3xl t-shirts and hoodies. I'm afraid the 3xl sanctuary bibs will be too small for me. What are your thoughts? Thank you
Length wise I think you will be fine. The 3XL are quite long. I would say the question would be more about body size as it is around the stomach area they can get right for their size. What is your weight? Do you have an athletic build? I have bought and worn a 3XL in the past in the Sanctuary and they were too big for me, but not crazy big.
Outdoor Analytics , I did get an answer back from First Lite, but curious what you think. I wear a 40-42 waist in jeans when I was 335#, I'm down to 310# now. I am losing weight, but I'm not sure where I'll be come hunting season. My current bibs are Under Armour 2xl and they still fit me well. Only thing I'll be wearing on top under the bibs will be my base layer and a merino wool mid layer.
I've been watching your videos and doing extensive research on bib sizing. I appreciate your detailed reviews. You said you wear 36 in pants. Can you state your height and weight?

Thank you for the kind words. I will try to get more reviews up shortly
I'm 6'2" 215/220. After trying yours out, what size would you go with?
Its been a few years now. Which piece did you start to favor? Sitka or the first lite system ?

Galin, I believe you are correct. First lite is second to none in quality and design. We are truely blessed to have so many choices as hunters.

The Sanctuary series absolutely has more room around the bottom of the leg then the Fanatic.

Must not have leg zippers, cargo pockets, etc... C'mon. Glad I know you're using the same microphone though..🙄

Does FIRSTLITE BIB have KIDNEY WARMER POCKETS?
Yes they do.

With the great return policy I think I might just give them a try.
Matt76cmich I think you will be just fine if you wore a 40-42 waist jean. I think the 3XL with a base layer will be great.
So which piece do you use the Fanatic or the sanctuary?
Both.
6’5” 225.. any recommendation on bib size?
2 XXL probably, but really a lot depends on body type. I think the XXL would work though.
Outdoor Analytics thanks!
I owe one truly excellent for heat retention, very nice to wear. applause applause ty
Hey man. I'm 6'2" 218 w/34" waist. What size bibs and Woodbury jacket would you recommend?
I've been watching your videos and doing extensive research on bib sizing. I appreciate your detailed reviews. You said you wear 36 in pants. Can you state your height and weight?
I am just a hair under 6 foot, say 5-11.5 and weight between 205-210
Thanks for the review super helpful!
