  • In this video. I try to duplicate Dr. Ridley's FRA analysis of a buck converter. I used TopSPICE to duplicate his Bode Plot. I show tips on how to speed up the simulations by using ideal components. I then run a FRA analysis on a much more complicated flyback converter which is a more robust test of the FRA. TopSPICE has an FRA menu to help you setup the analysis. If you like this video, please subscribe, share and give a thumbs up. Question or comments can be sent to rbola35618@aol.com or be posted here on my RUclips channel.

    Very good Robert, we learn a lot from you, I do have a question no related to the subject, is why we can not put large filter at the input of Schmitt trigger inverter , or how can I figure the maximum capacitor value I can use to avoid shoot through for the CMOS inside the Schmitt trigger.

    You have amazing knowlodge .Could you make a video about your desing 0-30 Volt adjustable and 0-5 ampere current limiting feature SMPS DC power supply (for our electronic lab.)
    I mean input AC 110-220 output low noise 0-30 volt DC Current Adjustable (limiting )0-5 ampere .Short circuit protect
    Low budget (Economical)
    I sure so much people like this project

    Dear Robert,
    Many thanks for sharing such valuable information with us.
    I would appreciate it if you could create a video specifically for hardware considerations for Space applications.
    What kind of challenges do you face and how to choose components for space-related applications.
    Many thanks
    Huseyin

    Thank you for sharing this FRA analysis. Question on the Buck model, Is this a current mode control model ? If yes, why use Type 3 compensation circuit ?

    • @user-power_electronics
      @user-power_electronics 3 года назад

      It looks like Ridley model is a Buck converter and yours model has a current sense feedback circuit which made me confuse as a current mode cotnrol loop.

      Dr. Ridley used a voltage mode controller. So I duplicated his circuit using a voltage model PWM from Basso. Thanks for the question.

      @@RobertBolanos Hi Robert, do you know why C Basso PWM Voltage mode model has current sense feedback ?

    • @RobertBolanos
      @RobertBolanos  3 года назад

      @@user-power_electronics yes. You can put a current sense to monitor the output current by using a comparator. If the current exceeds the current limit, it can shutdown the PWM and prevent damage to load and to power supply.
