The biggest and most important thing is that this is the first time I see a professional chess player making such a video. This is the most realistic assessment of this product, which I think is really good
Why do I like watching Journey to Grandmaster? I like listening to you think during moves. I prefer understanding a position more than memorizing moves. I used to be a positional player but now I play attacking moves whenever I can. My elo has gone up a couple hundred points since I started following your videos. Thank you sharing your experience.
IMHO, what I like most about Journey to Grandmaster is the sincerity on your part (good and bad) in helping to educate the viewers on aspects of the game of chess that most RUclipsrs do not. For example, you provide education on how to think about situations when playing chess whereas other RUclipsrs are putting out useless content as speedruns so all the viewer is doing is watching someone else play chess (a higher-level player against a lower-level player and crushing them). Thank you for that! 🙂
Watching these vids has got me thinking differently about how I approach the game of chess. I especially like his evaluation of the Chessnut Evo board. I also had problems of trying to study past games with written books and would give up following through. I actually ordered an Evo board and look forward to getting it. i am not a high level player but i do enjoy the game!
Thanks so much for doing this review. I am considering getting the EVO board and your comments were very helpful. One use case I have in mind is using the board with my Chessable courses, many of which have extensive videos. Have you tried connecting Blu Tooth earbuds to the EVO (in case the whole family does not want to hear the video)? Thanks again! BTW the thing I like most about your channel is the way to commentate your games as you play. I very much like your style. Very helpful.
Wow, that's an interesting use case :) Yeah, the board has a Bluetooth so I am pretty sure you can connect the earbuds to it. I have used Bluetooth multiple times to send files, works well. Thanks for the comment!
I really like the journey to grandmaster challenge series. Lots of strategies and principles to learn from even for a 1000 rated player. Especially the video of you playing a viewer was what convinced me to start playing the Philidor defense. Cheers 💯.
Your videos are very useful for expanding my chess knowledge. What I like most is that you explain each chess principle in detail, making it easy for everyone to understand.

The thing I like the most about Journey to Grandmaster is how frank you are in your lessons and how they are straight to the point. Also, you are not giving any fake advice which just doesn't work and give genuine advice.
