Here in central ND USA we feed cattails to our beef cows. The cattails are cut before they get heads. The large round bales are ground by a custom hay grinder guy. When grinding hay we mix barley hay, a little CRP hay and cattails at about a third each. To feed the ground hay is mixed with corn silage (1 to 1 by volume) and about 5 pounds of barley, the mixture is let set for 1-3 days before feeding to cut down on the dust and smells really nice and the cow go crazy for it as it is quite warm and steaming after 2-3 days.
That old Massey 135 is getting it done.
Another good one Drew. Is dad and Louise locked away for the winter, we’ve no seen them for ages. Looking forward to the next one. ATB fur noo
Thats a great job done on the muckspreader Drew. Such a fantastic job for a low roofed shed. You are giving me inspiration!!!

Great content 👌 as ever Drew just spotted the registration on the 135 PMS be careful 😂😂😂😂
Good man Drew, yer a busy man! Can ye tell us more about that shed? It looks like a converted job but works well. Or get yer Dad to tell us I reckon it has seen a few seasons. Thanks
Thought you had mountains of silage drew have you increased cow numbers
Im sure you have heard the old saying that you still need to have half of your fodder left at the 1st of February to be comfortable
Diffin the wee massey 🤣
The cows are fairly chewing through the silage, guess the spring can't come fast enough to get the beef cattle and heifers out of the sheds
Great video again Drew. Best of luck for 2024. Any new kit in the plans for 2024?
No not as far as I’m aware
Good video Drew👍 is it not a bit of a worry that 2/3 of way through January and your running short on silage 🤔 needs to be something far wrong if a 135 winna start in the winter 🥶🥶👍
Did ya remove the beaters from the spreader. You do that conversion yourself? Nice job.
I wonder how many 135s there are left in England Scotland and Ireland lol
you cant beat a bit of still game yuff :)
Ya ever thought aboot getting a keenan wagon to replace the KV mixer
No we haven’t
@@DrewsFarminLifea mechfiber 300 wouldn’t be much taller if any then save ya having to double handle the feed
Hard to beat the little mf I had a fair idea u would run out of silage
