this freaked me the hell out when I was 16 and first saw this. we hadn't really seen CGI like this ever before.
also man I know this has been said a thousand times but hugo weaving absolutely killed it as agent smith. just the way he talks was so unique, robotic, and unnatural.

I love that Smith takes off his glasses to try to relate to Neo, and puts them back on as soon as he sees he needs to become more… direct. Shows the idea that Smith is able to think more than the average Agent.

This scene is lovely on the senses, the audio is like ASMR, sometimes scenes like that are just perfect as is, no music or constant shot cuts, just pure well-written dialogue and good acting. It's so satisfying to watch over and over!

The scene is horrifying towards the end, cringey and squeamish as hell, the first half of the scene is more specifically what I was referring to in terms of satisfying, it gives a great buildup and suspense, that makes the final scene that much more horrifying!
Same as a good horror movie, I can definitely appreciate a great scene for the talent that went into creating it from a cinematic standpoint, especially when much of the purpose is to set up feelings of suspense or horror. The silence, no music, pure dialogue, quiet delicate sounds, it lulls you into a false sense of security before being hit with a train of "holy shit what the FUCK?"
This is why I can enjoy watching these scenes and movies more than once, it never gets old and you still feel just as strongly for these scenes as the first time

There's gonna be a shit ton of Anti-SJW types that are gonna be coming here saying.
"Resurrections RUINED The MAtrix." Whilst defending the sequels.
The sequels ruined The Matrix. This sense of dread and fear of the unknown is all but dissolved the first 15 minutes in Reloaded and all the way till the end of the franchise.
The horror element, of millions of people being enslaved whilst not knowing it, is fucking fascinating and then straight into the rabbit hole world building of the real world.
This is why the first movie will always scare me and excite me at the same time. Fuckin lightning in a bottle.

Granted, there is a certain horror element to the first one that is geniusly written, the fact that machines take over but instead of killing us all they enslave us and yet we don’t even know it. But the purpose of the first film was to introduce the audience to the matrix, show us neo and his journey to become the one, and show us that there is a human rebellion against the machines. The purpose of the sequels was to build up on the story of the conflict between the rebellion and the machines, and basically unite them together to eliminate smith of whom has become an enemy to both factions. So the sequels are more focused on what is happening in the real world than what is happening in the matrix itself, as there is more story to uncover in that department now that neo has unlocked his powers. Haven’t seen resurrections as I thought I should see the reviews before deciding to watch it, and thank god I did.
