Still love and watch all your Streetlight covers. Absolutely in love with them and have been for more than 5 years. You should make more covers of their songs if you have the will and time to do it :) stay safe, much love from Slovenia
+macdougall101 Ahh that's dead nice! Thanks! I am hoping to put more up soon but a bit bogged down with uni right now! So chuffed you like 'em so much!! :)
I love this song. The last verse is one of my favorite verses ever written, and you crushed it. I damn near cry when I hear you singing it. Very well done.
great goodness, Marvelous!!!!! you've done it again, ha. as wonderful as this is, any progress w/ The Hands that Thieve? not sure how i know it, but i'm CERTAIN you'd make that song something entirely of it's own :) Cheers, my dear! -El Crispy
+christopher perger Cheers! There has been some progress with the Hands that Thieve, but I still don't really feel like I've broken it's back. I can play it ok, but never make a video until I'm totally comfortable with the song and know what feeling I want to create with it... if that makes sense! But do not fear, I have not forgotten it!! :)
good stuff :) maybe consider a 3/4 count to slim the speed to your style? just a thought, and so glad to see you're doing that Voodoo You Do, Cheers, my dear! Crispy
Love your version, great as always! Keep it up! :) btw what kind of guitar is that in the background? Never seen one like that it kind of looks like a sitar.
such wonderful Cover you are creating! You make me See the lyrics in another light once more! Btw.: are you from Scotland? (just try to use my knowledge about accents ^^ )
alice after enjoying learning and playing two tom waits songs thanks to you, i have now learned this one too -- but it seemed long ~ ~ ~ ~ kinda darted off in too many directions ~ ~ ~ ~ also i didnt like the MISTER DYLAN lyric sorry ~ ~ ~ so i cut it in half (solomon-like) and i have posted it ~ ~ ~ ~ i said "na na" not "la la" - and while i sound plausible you sound much better than me
This is a year late but take it from a toh kay fan : what Alice does is beautiful, but not what Toh Kay does. She makes it her own, as Kalnoky makes it his own again in every version he creates of the song. (There's a Streetlight Manifesto version, a Toh Kay version, there may even be an attempt at it in the B.O.T.A.R setting). It's "na na" in the original as well.
Last was about a year and a half ago. Thom Kay is my Cobain, essentially. You do him more than justice. Keep playing music. Is it cool if I pass this video on to people that can make things happen as far as that goes? (Venue owners, etc..?)
Hey man, thank you so much for your kind words! I don't pretend to be a hardcore fan like you, but I'm so into his lyrics and his way with melody I just had to have a go myself! Feel free to do as you like with my stuff. I live in the middle of a field in England so I don't do many gigs but by all means spread the music :)
I hope you know that this song has been on my daily playlist for 7 years.

A world fullof people like you and it would surely be a better place... beautifull song, voice...
Every few weeks or so i get the urge to hear one of your Toh Kay covers... always end up watching them all!
+macdougall101 Ahh that's dead nice! Thanks! I am hoping to put more up soon but a bit bogged down with uni right now! So chuffed you like 'em so much!! :)
Ah good stuff, i'll look forward to that! Yeah they are great, good to chill with on this rainy afternoon! Lovin the Common People cover too! :)

You tackled Steetlight's epic closing song and really knocked it out of the park. Simply fabulous
Love your cover of this! Thank you :)
So beautiful, I love your voice.
Nailed it...couldn't help picking up my own guitar and strumming along!
I nearly lost it when toh kay brought you on stage at union chapel London kinda hope he poached you from your beautiful covers of his songs !!!
I know, right? What a ledge! 😂
@@alicebanksy did he actually grab you from your videos ?? Because that right there my friend boggles my mind!!! 😂😂😂
wot?
Yes! We've been friends for a few years because he's jealous of my ability to make his songs sound good 😅
@@alicebanksy he's a brilliant songwriter and composer but has NOTHING on your voice! Angelic is an understatement.
Somebody clearly thought the dislike button was the like button... very beautiful rendition of this song!
This is absolutely beautiful! Please do Down, Down, Downn to Mephisto's Café next!!!! You have one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.
Thank you so much! I just did a couple more but your suggestion is next on the list! Actually I'm gonna go learn it right now :)

10/10!!! Very hard band to cover and you went above and beyond!
I love this song. The last verse is one of my favorite verses ever written, and you crushed it. I damn near cry when I hear you singing it. Very well done.

Thanks! :). It's actually an octave mandolin! Really beautiful sound, I might try and do a video with it at some point!
wow lovely. what's nice for me is that i do not know these songs - so this is my introduction to them. do you know all the words by heart?
Great, now when I listen to Streetlight's version of this I'll sing la la la instead of Na na na :p
Awesome job!!
+jerkerhead Aww thanks! I don't know why but I feel silly and unnatural singing 'Nanana'.... Maybe it's because 'Nana' is what I call my grandma!
+Alice Banks wow, I don't know how to RUclips -.-
are you northern? couldn't work it out
i'm thinking about doing a cover with a middlesbrough accent but i might massacre it
DOOO IT!! Real northern accents ftw! :)
That was dope.
This might be better than the original... Best song of all time tbh
Thank you.
such wonderful Cover you are creating! You make me See the lyrics in another light once more!

my son said he heard of the group when he was in HS and thats like 10 yr ago.
!@#$#! I love your voice.........very comforting.............
At work when we need more bananas I write "nanana" on the list. La la la sounds better to me too :P
nice facial punctuation at 4:18 or so, and at 5:57 too
also 2:25
who can't enjoy it
Is that a bouzouki?
Caleb Voisine-Addis Yes it is! I have it strung and tuned as an octave mandolin a la Andy Irvine!
I love you.
2 months later. I feel the same.
7 years later it doesn’t go away

alice you do such nice fingerpicking, is that the way toh kay does it?
