To be fair, they played on it a lot when El Camino came out. They said how they hated eachother in a lot of interviews and Q even themed a photoshoot on it. Clearly all in jest though!
I’m so happy to have the Black Keys out in the spotlight again. Such an amazing band. Hopefully the desire to avoid mainstream touring is gonna motivate them to bring back that Big Come Up/Thickfreakness sound for future releases. I could use another album that sounds like it was recorded through a microwave.
@@Randomstlhero I only heard a few songs so far; it sounds like they stuck to the same formula from “Let’s Rock”, which made it come across as a lazy effort in my opinion. I hope at some point enough fan demand can lead them to return to their classic garage/blues-rock hybrid sound. Wild Child and It Ain’t Over don’t have the same grimy feel of cuts like Hard Row and Midnight In Her Eyes.
This is so interesting to re-watch. I saw this episode when it aired on TV and I didn't know who they were talking about, as I had just turned it on in the middle of the episode. And now, I am a HUGE Black Keys fan and re-watching this. How funny!
I love The Black Keys. I was so frustrated I had no internet for years so I was limited to what I could find out about my favorite artists. Glad to see them again.
I find it funny that there was an immediate assumption of issues between Dan and Patrick just because of a 5 year gap in albums. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have 3-5 year gaps between almost every album(BSSM '91, OHM '95, Californication '99). Tool is only finally releasing an album after 13 years, but that was partially due to record company legal issues.
I’m glad we got a new album and all, but I want another album that sounds like Thickfreakness/Rubber Factory and Magic Potion. Just raw, unadulterated blues and rock.
percussion jamz if they do come back I feel like it will be very different because of Richard Swift passing but I think they’ll honor his memory somehow

The Heart Of A Blackbird well, indie in the sense that they started as an independent band, and that’s what ”indie” stands for. I think ”Blues Duo” would make much more sense tho, but i get it that they’re calling them ”indie”.
They were so good, just the 2 of them. I love the magic they had as just 2 guys in a basement. I have the first 6 albums on vinyl....Past 2 albums bla, not so much. No thanks.
I read the title and was like, "Okay cool", till it got to the part where they went on "break" of 5 YEARS. You know they hated each others guts but when the money started running low, they hated the lack of funds even more 😭😭
I know its not necessarily their fault, but all their music sounds like its from a beer/car commercial and it makes it really difficult to listen to more than 1-2 songs in a row
It's actually really sad to see that they're only really making music again to stay relevant and make some more money. They pretty much spell it out for us in this interview...they aren't enjoying it really, but realize it's their best ticket to make more money. Not to mention they're music is the very definition of dull
@@EdwardMaksimczak you're one of those. Are you Dan or Jack? Nah so you can just sit back and listen to each of their music. You bum fanboys are cancerous.

Sam Peeler watch the Joe Rogan podcast interview with them and you can see they have a great relationship with each other.

I get the impression news reporters low key hate each other 🤣
You know
Gotta love how these guys became successful on their own terms.

Let’s rock is actually a solid album. Had to give it a couple listens. But it’s good. I’m glad they took their time
Considering they do 2-3 takes per song, it probably took them a week. Lol
