To reiterate a post I read off tfw2005, they are selling to the retailer, much in the same way they would sell hammers. The shelves are barren, and there’s like one or two less desirable figures on the shelf, they won’t restock until they’re gone and they need more ‘hammers’. It sucks, but that’s how their distribution model is at the moment.

Primal is the same amount of plastic as earthrise starscream and the 2 voyager versions of ER prime. 130 grams of plastic. Like or dislike whatever you want but factually there's not much to argue against primals voyager status. There's no arguing that he's short but there's many elements of these toys that can't be shown with your eyes alone and plastic use is one of the few we as consumers can see. Also understand that many of these issues are more about Hasbro as a whole which leaves transformers in submission to their other toylines

I'm getting annoyed at the same characters getting released over and over again as well. But the problem is is that people keep buying them over and over again. If people stopped buying Prime or Starscream or any of the other half dozen characters they release in every wave then Hasbro will stop doing the same characters over and over again and hopefully try to make a bit more variety. I'm not one to get down on a fandom, especially one I'm a part of, but one of the biggest annoyances I have with the Transformers fandom (and this is a problem with other fandoms I'm a part of as well) is that there are a huge (or at least a hugely vocal) group that keeps on bitching and moaning about the constant inclusion of certain characters again and again but still turn around to buy those same rereleases time and again. I wish they would just stop. And I'm not saying that that's what your doing with this video. Sorry if that sounded like I was with you. And plus, with all the times they keep on releasing a character time and time again the specialness of having that character gets lost. I remember the days when having an Optimus prime figure or a Starscream figure or whatever. Now it's just a dime a dozen sometimes with some characters.

Its nice getting a review from a fan, who is not a fan boy. Some channels get far too defensive when it comes to calling Hasbro out, so hearing something other than praise is a much needed change. Pretty much everything you hit on, yup totally agree. Something that wasn't mentioned is the tolerances for this guy because they can be freakishly tight that puts way too much leverage/force onto think plastic held together by pin joints. I only played with mine for a day before retiring him to the shelf of disappointment out of fear of breakage.
Also another fail that comes with beast wars is the fact it feels like there are two design teams. One is trying to bring the old characters back to life with todays standards and transformations... then there is another team that is trying hard to replicate the original toys. Black Arachnia is amazing, cheetor is very much a new version of his nightmarish road kill kitty toy. Then we have Dinobot that rides the line. Robot is damn near perfect where raptor mode actually manages to look worse than its janky sad dinosaur 95 toy.

  • @Natee178
    @Natee178 3 года назад +1

The distribution complaint makes total sense. 100% Agee. However, it’s quite near sided to just look at the size of something and classify it as that. I’m not sure where you see thin plastic on this thing, as it’s a very solid toy and has nice quality plastic compared to some of their earlier lines. Engineering also needs to be accounted for, had this been released as a deluxe it could’ve possibly sacrificed the beast mode or articulation. I guess if you are someone who just buys these for the toy aspect of them, then yeah I see maybe not feeling these new figures as much. But I see so much more quality when it comes to no ball joints, better paint, better transformations, a closer look to how most people remember the characters, and just overall presentation. I think hasbros biggest obstacle now is QC and distribution. Prices are raising for every toy line, not just tf, so that’s something people just have to deal with on their own. They are atleast putting in the same effort in these past 3 lines that they are with their Star Wars and marvel figures, which is something that hasn’t always happened.

I bought siege Megatron, Optimus, and Springer because I will NOT invest in Hasbro masterpiece figures; I'm generally happy with what some of these figures have done and the availability, not so much for the pricing as modern voyagers are half the size of what they used to be and certainly not as sturdy. Primal is my favorite figure thus far and I may just be looking through nostalgia but I can get past the small imperfections. I'm going to start by saying I completely agree with you on the distribution issues and it's not just in overseas markets I'm in the United States on the East Coast literally one state away from Hasbro's headquarters and we still don't get certain toys in my area, they just never show up in stores for some reason. I've talked to some Walmart and target employees in my area specifically I'm part of a discussion group for fans that has a regional manager that works for Target as part of the group and he told me that people he knows in Walmarts buying an acquisition department have stopped even ordering leader class size figures due to shelf space and very few voyagers if any, any of the larger figures that I've purchased recently have all come from Target, Best buy, or online. That being said I would suggest that you move to online purchasing as your primary means of purchase. I get that it can sometimes be a little bit more expensive due to shipping and other fees but it basically eliminates the "not in stock" issues that you run into at retail stores. Now getting that out of the way I MUST say if you haven't bought a figure since siege ended and earthrise began you have missed out on some of the best figures they've made in the last 20 years! In particular the Earth rise Optimus prime, the earthrise Titan class scorponok, (which is in my opinion the best Titan class figure they've made so far) the Ultra Magnus(earthrise version) is probably the best Ultra Magnus we've gotten since the G1 other than the masterpiece and then you get into the kingdom and the studio series 86 line and some of them are near perfect the cyclonus and the hot rod and jazz figures. One of the things I'm still heated about is the way Hasbro does certain figures of characters that they know are going to be wanted on a mass level but yet they make them Amazon or other such exclusives and they sell out in a matter of hours and the only way to get them is through overpriced scalpers on eBay, I'm still holding out hope to be able to get my hands on the coneheads to complete my seakers set and I've been trying to get my hands on either a siege or earthrise ratchet since before they were released. But if you take anything away from this it's that you should probably try to get your hands on some of these before it's too late. Ps I have an extra Netflix bumblebee I'd be willing to trade for an earthrise ratchet if anyone is interested inbox me.

    Had Kingdom; Cheetor, Rattrap,
    Dinobot, BlackArachnia &
    Megatron! They ALSO Had
    RED Figures; Primal & Cheetor!
    (RED DOES NOT Transform).
    They Didn't Get BW-ReReleases
    Until Early THIS YEAR... By

    Kingdom Megatron Was $45?
    NOW Deluxes Are $35...WTF?

I actually don't buy any kingdom, wfc and earthrise cuz mainly I collect are studio series figures only. Probably after I'm satisfied with the studio series I have maybe I'll jump into the other lines. But tbh I don't think so SS is ending that quick. Plus I don't collect the G1 in studio series as well.

I don't mind Hasbro increasing the price if it's valid. But shrinking voyagers are No No. That packaging BS environment friendly is dubious like Apple not shipping with charger just because. More money for them. I miss the old days when companies made toys because they have the passion for it.

$40 for a deluxe? Was that in a store, or online?
As for the distribution, that's been an issue as far back as the Power of the Primes trilogy. I think a big part of the problem is that brick & mortar stores don't want to risk being saddled with putting a lot of fairly pricy merch on clearance because Habro's use of waves means they specifically intend for a given figure to only be on shelves for about half a year, compared to multiple years for the originals.

I don't disagree with your points & I know what you mean. There is so much potential with other lines that they could touch base on, toys from years ago that they could re-release & improve.. But they keep rehashing the SAME SLAGGIN' SCRAP over & over instead of moving forwards.
However! Growing up, I never had the luxury of having two parents & I've always lived in rather poor settlements, so it was either I get a new toy like all the other kids are playing with when it's newly released into the market, or I got new school shit & possibly lunchables here & there every so often. So when we did have the cash to fork out for a new toy for me, it was somewhat rare.. As a result of all this, I sadly missed out on a lot of beast wars toys, & G1 figures at the time were a novelty & super expensive because at the time reissues weren't a thing. So with the present toys coming out, I'm actually quite happy I've been able to finally collect my favorite characters from G1 & Beast Wars I missed out on years ago. I mean, obviously I want them to move on & make improved toys from other lines (still pissed about the Armada Prime they cancelled ;A; ) but I won't complain about what they're giving us either. The prices are definitely blind robbery for some figures, especially the Primal you're showing off in the video, but the prices for some of the others are arguably fair I think.
But I digress, cool video man, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us ^w^

  • @LapisBlock

It's not a deluxe, price point and classing has never equaled size. Lockdown is a good example, he's a tall figure but he's still clearly a deluxe and that was in the "golden age". The figures now pose better than any of the old ones and better than studio series. I own a few SS and they're okay, they put their focus into sculpted detail and transformation more than articulation it's fine, I don't like the compromise but I see why.

Even before corona I couldn't find SS or Siege figures _anywhere_ where I live minus a few small shops that only had a few transformers and were more "for geek" shops. Argos only sells Cyberverse figures now, or at least, that was all it sold last time I checked, and I haven't seen them anywhere in big shops like ASDA. Do these companies think america is the only place that matters? Cause that couldn't be further from the truth if you tried.

Honestly I can't relate. This is one of, if not the best voyagers in the WFC trilogy.
The price to me is perfect. He's got like 5 or 6 colors painted and plastic where as the average deluxe usually only has 2 or 3. Plus he's the best articulated WFC toy since Siege Starscream.
Can say I 110% agree on the distribution. It's terrible. Like for the US, we wait way longer then we used to for newer figures to where it feels like a constant wait then you pop on FB and people in the UK are getting g it 3 months earlier. It's all just cringe.

Lol they are making the packaging to be "environmentally-friendly". Sorry, man, it just costs less money.
It also bugs me that they shrunk the figures and raised the price. It's their pattern to 1) raise the quality 2) raise the price to "compensate" for higher quality 3) drop the plastic quality or give less accessories (but not the price) & coast 4) repeat the process before the sales drop too much.

Hasbro needs to fuck off G1 for just a nanosecond. They were going great even when straying away from it.
And they should continue the trend of making something old into something new with the Unicron Trilogy. Is it my favorite? Hell no, but it'd be great to get updated figures of those designs.

I dont believe i have enough information to form an opinion other than Hasbro is not great at distribution (or smart choices), Verified by my local game store's owner, The Transformers TCG actually took off therr but one of the problems was they gave Wal*Mart Priority, and not many people go to wal*mart to buy transformers cards. I am however very curious about how much it costs to engineer these, with transformers designs getting better and better, is there any correlation to what they pay their designers?
