Just ran into mj the other day by little caesers. Dude is tight he sat there and chopped it up with me and the homies about skateboarding. Dude is really nice
this guy is my all time favorite skater the way he sees skateboarding truly motivates me, every time i watch his videoparts inspire me not just to skate but to be better, MJ you are the best skater period, trick selection, style, swag everythingg, i love skateboardingggg
This video part changed they way i skated, my philosophy and attitude to it. Changed my world. Forever grateful to transworld and MJ for this. AND MJ is pure grace on a board.
My exact thoughts. Before this style didn't exist or matter in my mind. Just big tricks, punk rock is what i thought skating is all about. This part showed me skateboarding is actually an art.
Jaime britton definitely chap this part is what skateboarding needed the timing of its release was perfect. It inspired me and my friends so much. Also made me purchase a load of transworld videos.
One of the best skateboarders of all time....chewing on Taco Bell while downplaying how rad that part was. It's still a pretty good part almost 20 year later. And that song is still one of the greatest. Probably my favorite Built To Spill tune.
100th comment! Marc used to skate with my good buddy Steven Webb who introduced him to me one day. Steven told Marc that I loved the Lakai mj3's which were my favorite shoes and I was skating them that day too he said "I heard you like my shoe" I nearly popped from excitement. A few months went by and the next time my friend met up with him they picked me up and Marc gave me a trash bag filled with with Lakai MJ3's sample size 9 unreleased colors he was 1,000,000 x cooler than I'd imagine such a down to earth real ass dude he said to just "pay it foward" Legend
It's so rad to see him reminiscing on these spots because nearly every single one of these was the shit that I grew up skating. Lots of Palo Alto, San Mateo, and San Jose
I love everything about this. Such an amazing part. MJ skates with so much style, he’s effortless, one of the best of all time. All of the trans world videos at that time were incredible, starting with feedback.
Bring and hang a poster of your own place at a spot, so super creative! Nobody does that, this playful attitude and style sets marc apart from most pros. True genius
I love this! Awesome job guys! Funny how MJ was acting like a front nose on a rail was hard when he was the first person to ever do a nollie front board slide on a 10 stair rail at San Dieguitoin in 1996 in tws as a sequence, dude has always done some sick as rail tricks. Bravo Marc Johnson!!!
He said he barely had any handrail tricks in his bag at that time, but I remember, I think his first Transworld spotlight or something he did the first tre flip lipslide on a rail I ever saw, on that Ronnie Bertino rail in SD that they also skated on king of the road last year. He also did something else groundbreaking on that covered hallway rail that Penny/Berra/Rowley skated back in the day, but I can't remember what trick it was. I'm sure it's just him being modest though. For anybody who hasn't seen it, check out his Maple - Seven Steps to Heaven part, it's incredible
@@richsoryu he's been on the experience at least three times and was hilarious. Ever hear of the back 40? Before the nine there was Kenny A, MJ, and Chris Roberts doing a podcast. WTF are you talking about bc you don't know shit
Marc Johnson was most def in my top 5 for awhile during the mid/late 90's. So insane. If this interview wasn't in Blk & Wht, that booger in Marc's nose probably wouldn't be the only thing I noticed when I saw him talk in this... Why did no one say anything sooner? Dude's got a hanger, finally it disappears after way too long....... Geeeeez
Marc is just oldschool, in the 90s when everything people were doing was new trick names got really confusing, there wasn't common nomenclature. People just used to say cab to refer to a 360, nollie or fakie, nowadays you'll sometimes hear nollie cab but it normally refers to nollie frontside 360s, Marc was talking about over-rotating his nollie back 180 nosegrinds and doing a nollie back 360 to tailslide when he was saying nollie cab tailslide. Modern times cab exclusively refers to fakie backside 360. Half cab is fakie backside 180.
You know what he's saying though... It's like coming around that half circle corner then set up and spin 360 fake down a set of stairs. I don't care how he tries to explain it. That shit is gnarly.
I am Clif Koufman! I vaguely remember skating with Marc when I was in high school. It's awesome to see what a great skater he became.
❤❤
so how long were you an attorney ?

One of my favorite pros and personalities.

Marc Johnson’s part in this movie is my all time favorite, you just couldn’t help it cause it’s that great!
I love everything about this. Such an amazing part. MJ skates with so much style, he’s effortless, one of the best of all time. All of the trans world videos at that time were incredible, starting with feedback.

Yeah! He has an artist mind like that. Similar to Jason Dill and Mark Gonzales.

I watched this video so many times. MJ has consistently been in videos for 25 years and has never slacked. Can't say that about many pros.
I know I'm a little late but he had so much Style back then still man style matters
I bought the vhs way back when..and seeing the part now in this hq quality makes me so god damn happy. Thanks transworld

@robert What are you talking about? His Nine Club interview was after Lakai screwed him over.
@@richsoryu he's been on the experience at least three times and was hilarious. Ever hear of the back 40? Before the nine there was Kenny A, MJ, and Chris Roberts doing a podcast. WTF are you talking about bc you don't know shit
@@mosmith3026 I was replying to robert.

Jamie’s rushing....but let Marc talk ./.legens for real one of my favorite parts
Someone explain to me what a Nolie cab is? Isn't it a nollie frontside 180? Doesn't a cab imply that it's fake & not nollie?
