Toyota Yaris GR - driven HARD!

  • We took this little fella for some country roads fun. The whole road segment was actually closed due to construction in the village and we had spotters on the way. Drive safe!
Edit: Thanks for all the lovely comments! Lot of questions about the specs of the car - the car is the Circuit Pack, Nokian winter tires and driving in Sport mode.
The footage is not sped up, I have no reason to do so... :) The car could actually go even faster but this is right around my limit where I felt comfortable driving it. It is truly a proper little monster!

@Fire Heart I think its more than that, at least for me.
Seeing the mountian roads the kids from japan would take their cars through in touge runs - and not like the comic book version or tokyo drift or whatever ther fuck, I mean the REAL THING - its just a whole other kind of sport. You couldn't get much done on these roads with a maclaren or ferrari anyway, since the lanes are soo incredibly narrow and the whole thing is tight winding turns and hairpins with barely any straights to accelerate on, its much more suited to smaller rally cars.
At the time japanese car manufacturers had agreed not to make any cars that went over 276hp, which didnt mean all that much on roads where you dont get a lot of room to accelerate anyway, and whatever power any sports cars did have was implemenet with great amounts of innvoation and utilised to the fullest extent - this is the market responsible for V-tech and the rotary engine.
So you had all these JDM sports cars and hot-hatches that were coincidentally almost purpose-built for these exact conditions (entirely unintentionally though, apparently the 240sx was actually marketed to young women as a fancy way to get around town and they had no idea young adults were absolutely SENDING them down mountains as hard as they could).
They were really only doing because it was fun, and incidentally I supposed thats what makes it fucking fun to watch.
I mean look at this mental shit: ruclips.net/video/PQ6RSgjKTGY/видео.html

I don't say this often, but it's Christmas: Considering the safety margin (public roads + leaves piled up on the edges), that's plenty fast driving, no complaints from me.
And the footwork, I've got an ear for engines under load, and I didn't hear a single mismatched rev, that smooth application of engine load when you let out the clutch = Good man ^^
    But that's not all.
The exits on those drifts, I distinctly remember Keiichi Tsuchiya being the first to put in the effort.
Imagine riding shotgun with someone going sideways, and their techniqye mid-drift is super smooth, no corrections, sick angle and all, but then at the exit, the car jolts... because they fishtail..
All that effort, then they pack it up and throw in the towel at the end 🤣
Because they still have opposite lock applied while the car's lateral grip and speed increases, a.k.a "runs out of drift" they're literally over-correcting as if they were transitioning and then decided not to go through with it, unpredictable and sketchy 🤣🤣
Even most pro drifters are blatantly guilty, they get through their judged sectors then simply let go of the throttle while still at anywhere from half to full opposite lock, they don't even try 🤮
No finesse.. No workmanship pride (and before anyone tries: Their drifts get judged, good results > they get paid = workmanship, bothering with the nice finishing touches = Workmanship pride, so, I'm sticking to my story).
But you, some random RUclipsr, 1:39 (for quick reference) you know exactly WHEN it's going to "run out of drift", so you're literally recovering opposite lock *while* all that is going on, essentially "meeting it" for a neat, cultured, *smooth*, surgical & anticipated exit. 🎩💯
