- It's been a while since I've started up this old beast and I thought it would be nice to post a review video of it. This welder is 40 years old and still works great. Perfect for farm / shop applications or where you need to take it with you. The rope start can be a little tricky, but once you get the hang of it, this thing is pretty straight forward to get going. They sure don't make them like this any more!

Thanks for watching!
I just bought the same machine yesterday for $200. No cables or pulley to start it. I brought my own cables, a 1/2' drill to start it. Fired right up and ran great. It welded smooth as can be. I already have four welders at home but didn't have an engine driven welder. Not that I really need it, but it's something I wanted. I'll likely spend next winter doing a quick resto on it and getting it running as best as it can. Thanks for the video
AWESOME! Nice score for $200! I'd buy that for sure. They are a good machine, I was using mine a few weekends ago on my kids clubhouse. Welded great. Thanks for watching!
It's a great machine! I have a 1979 model year with electric start I paid 80 bucks for it. Previous owner got it to fix it (welding/generator wiring issue) but could not figure it out. Changed the rectifier and it's been a great machine for 8 years now.
Awesome man! Yeah, it's a stout machine for sure! They don't make them like this any more!
just picked up an electric start 81 weldanpower with the 10hp kohler currently waiting for a coil to come in for it cant wait to try it out thanks for the demo
Awsome man! And thanks for watching! They are great machines! Right now I've been using my father's Ranger, that's a really sweetheart for sure!
I got me one for $160, had been sitting in storage for years, after a few hrs of cleaning the carb and new fluids she runs beautiful and welds 7014 like butter.
That is great to hear and one hell of a good price!
@@BarnStangz That sure is!
Very nice. Just got one at estate sale last week. Got new carb online to install this week. Won't know if it welds until I get the Kohler running. Still looking for an air cleaner assembly.
Awesome! Yeah, I bet it still works, these things were beasts! Have you looked for the assembly on eBay? You might get lucky. You'll have to write back and let me know if you got it welding.
@@BarnStangz whats with the deal on these things, why are they always sold without the carb and air cleaner aassembly?
@@schlomoshekelstein908 Did you buy it at an auction?
@@BarnStangz This older lady was selling all the stuff out of her storage locker. I spotted the welder and asked how much she wanted for it and she said $20. "hell yeah i'll take it", she says come back in 2 hours I have to re-arrange my locker it's at the bottom (her locker was legit full I could only see half of the welder).
I go back, she has it sitting outside the locker. I pay the $20, notice it's missin the carb ,air cleaner and fuel tank and ask her if she has them, i'd even be willing to pay a little more for those parts and she looked at me like i was a crazy asshole and said "it's all at the bottom of my storage locker!!!" I offered her another $100 for those parts
"give me a couple days and i'll find them" and that was that, never heard back from her again :/
@@schlomoshekelstein908 Damn that sucks. People are weird. Why would someone take that shit off!? Maybe they were working on it. Either way, you should be able to retro fit some stuff. I have two of these machines, one is at my fathers. Good reliable machines that will last a LONG time! I should drag the old girl out... It's been a while since I've started it, lol!
My friend bought 1 new in 1977,still runs like a champ! Cost 750$
Awesome to hear! I'm actually going to drag mine out of the barn and do some welding with it. It's nice having something that you know if going to work! LOL! Thanks for watching!
Would anyone know about the 130 ? Smaller but I have a chance to buy one.
The guy wants 450 runs like a dream - I wouldn’t want to pay more then 300 for it. Advise ?
Thanks for watching. I'd say if it runs well and was taken care of, just buy it. These things come in handy and if maintained will last many lifetimes. You never know when you'll need a gas powered welder.
They are worth the money just for the generator. That Kohler is built like an anvil.
Yes indeed, built to last a few lifetimes for sure, with proper maintenance.
Hi sir I have question this machine can burn stick 7018 thanks
Thank you for watching, yes, 7018 will work just fine. 6011 welding rods are capable of producing welds that feature a 60,000 psi minimal tensile strength. The 7018 welding rods produce stronger welds that feature minimal tensile strengths of 70,000 psi.
I have one like urs an I'm trying to find out how to change the coil on it?
I've never had the cover off of this thing, but I would imagine that it's under there. Might be hard to find the actual coil, but I bet it's worth checking on eBay. Thanks for watching and good luck!
the coil is under the flywheel im currently in the process of changing mine
i can get 1 for 100 bucks what is it worth thanks
TOTALLY WORTH IT! Does it run and weld okay? Can you test it out?
Como puedo conseguir piezas para ella como tanque de combustible y gorro de carburador gracias

@@sar4564 yea the carb is easy to source, there only like $30, too. but where do I find an alternative gas tank? and air filter assembly? I'm thinking just buy the carb, jerry rig a plastic gas tank for now (all the vintage listings want $200+ for one) and use a chromed out air filter housing from the autoparts store. my only issue is the air filter won't be as "water resistant" as the old version but I guess I wouldn't want to weld or leave my shit in the rain... but it is truckbed mounted so what am i gonna do
@@sar4564 munchas partes estan disponible en Ebay es question de esperar. Yo tengo una igual.
good machine,i have one same with 11hp Kohler motor pullstsrt starts easy, now i need a selector switch eanyone has one? let me know
Thank you for watching! Yes, it's a great machine for sure. I actually ran that old sucker a few weeks back, put fresh gas in it and two rope pulls and it was running! Good luck finding your selector switch, maybe eBay or Facebook Market place, I've seen these old machines pop on there every once and a while at fairly decent prices!
