This song has brought me massive nostalgia, on family road trips when I was little my dad and I would sing this song together and dance in the car. I don’t have him around anymore so this was quite lovely
Literally...the only Country band I'm willing to take time out of my day to listen to. I come from the world of Metal, Rap, and Classic Rock. Lonestar is a standout amongst an entire genre.
this song has so many memories, i'm thirteen years old. i remeber when i was like 3 , 4, 5 years old listening to this song in my car, we still have that car, it doesn't take cd's it takes those tapes i used to always listen to hungry like a wolf too, ahhhhh. i miss those days:) my mom would put the tapes in whwenever we were in the car:')
I wanna walk in Memphis every day -3 I'm the grandchild that lost her beautiful grandpa. I lost 2 dogs. One that is still my grandpas. & the other one is mine. All mine. Jax, Tugi, Papa? If you read this , I want you to know , I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AN MIGHT! I will never ever survive without you. You make my life complete. You saw me through those hard broken times. You showed me, the right even when I was wrong. I love you so much! God .. Give them kisses for me please ? )80
Was on Beale St. last night, staying on union street right next to where the duck walk is. Man i tell you these few streets do something to a guy if your passion is music. Just like the song says...the sights and sounds of Beale lift you ten feet high.
Can't help but roll my eyes when people type out their life stories in the comments, so I'll keep this short. Is there a song that sends you back to a very specific place and emotion, not even a specific time? Just every time you felt that emotion in that place. I haven't listened to this song in years (somehow), but it got into my head and now I'm seven years old again, falling asleep as a crackly old radio always on the local country station plays in the corner of my childhood room.
I love this version of this song. I like a lot better than Marc Cohn's version. This version seems to be a lot more flowing and a lot less broken. Cohn's versions seems way to choppy, and I can't get into it as easily.
Mmh I gotta disagree on that. Marcs version isn't chopped this song might flow better but it lacks the same soul that his version has. Lonestars cover is amazing and all but it's generic all the same.
@@kameronhunt1962 @Kameron Hunt Actually, Marc's version couldn't be any choppier. You claim that this one may flow better, but you're saying that it is far more chopped up at the same time. They are the opposite of each other, so which one is it? Also, this one has far more "soul" than the original ever will have. And, it couldn't be any more non generic then Marc's version. You're getting the two versions mixed up, and not making any sense in the process. You might want to actually know what you are talking about before you actually start speaking. That you don't sound like a fool when you do.
Honestly I like both versions. Marc's is better, but That's because I prefer his classic country sound. Lonestar has more of that 90's country transition phase, when country was more Country/Rock, unlike the Country/Pop of today.
I don't think this version's bad, but it doesn't have the emotion and feels like the original. I only dislike how they say 'and' ( I'm blue as a boy can be) instead of 'but'. it's not the same!!
I was only making a point and if ur refering to "realise" ive spelt it that way my whole life all the way through school and was never told i spelt it wrong, just saying like and i am aware that you can spell it with a z!
I was also making a point :), it is amazing how many people think that arguments are one sided. As in, I know what I was doing but they don't have a reason because they are 'MEAN!'.

I've been singing this to my 3 year old ever since he was a baby. This song was our bonding along with Bob Marley and Offspring. lol
Nothing makes you feel good quite like country music!
Literally...the only Country band I'm willing to take time out of my day to listen to. I come from the world of Metal, Rap, and Classic Rock. Lonestar is a standout amongst an entire genre.
I love this song. R.I.P Elvis Presley 👼💗
Love the song! I haven't heard it in ages. And listening to it right now, it made me cry. If you ask me, there's a lot of passion in it.

I think both Marc Cohn and Lonestar are great!!
I liked this one better til he left off...child....a small thing but it mattered to me..

Wonder how many folks know who W C.handy is without googling him?

This song makes me want to go to memphis.

I enjoy Lonestar, but the original Marc Cohn version is still hands down my favorite.
Ahh the best
These videos might start going crazy for footballer Memphis Depay now....

I totally agree
both are good versions
yeah walking in memphis
Deep!
Were doing this in chorus ! ; D
I like this version better then Mark Cohn's no offense to him
+Cassie Bloemendaal I'm agree with you. This version is amazing
+ConsoleGames And More Sorry but you need the gravel voice of Marc Cohn for this song.
dont forget, who wrote the song :), easy to make a good cover out of a great song :)
Cassie Bloemendaal same
Chills

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I don't know maybe its cause I heard Marc Cohn's version first but i prefer Marc Cohn's.
I heard lonestars first but I prefer Marc cohns. So much more soul in it.
Anna Marianne Cher is good too, that's the first version I heard of the three of them. Can you believe it was from X-Files lol
I'm just not a fan of the country to be and feel if voice gives the song
0:57
I prefer this version so much over Marc Cohn's, and I'm not even a fan of country music. ^^
It's great isn't it?
usually im not one to choose wich band did a song better but I honestly like the marc cohn version better.
man my throat was so sore but i sang (badly at that) the best i could!
@TrAkMan83 his version is good too, but don't be hatin' on my "twangy" country music ;)
I don't think this version's bad, but it doesn't have the emotion and feels like the original. I only dislike how they say 'and' ( I'm blue as a boy can be) instead of 'but'. it's not the same!!
I found my way here by accident, but I gotta I'm not a fan of this slight country spin thing they did with this
What do you mean? Marc Cohns version is a country version to unless you mean that their's is a lot more out there?
Lonestar sing this very beautiful but I still love Marc Cohn version better.
THIS ISNT BYT THEM !!!!! ITS A COVER THEY DID
It's by them and it's a cover
240p we meet agian..
Nao to you plane
Elvis
that's what I said.
Richie McDonald
WTF i thought he said 'blue as a broken bee' XD
This version just doesn't have the soul feel to it. Don't get me wrong it's good, just the original is better.
+Brittany Andrews. And that his opinion I agree the original had a spirited about it
U do realise some of ur words r wrong?
I could say the same about your comment.
I was only making a point and if ur refering to "realise" ive spelt it that way my whole life all the way through school and was never told i spelt it wrong, just saying like and i am aware that you can spell it with a z!

Im not trying to argue in fact i hate arguing but thats life! I was only using text language!
awaken
Yet another cover version that wasn't needed because the original by Marc Cohn was perfect as it was. Why?
This was covers a long time ago
I agree with courtnie lonestar sings way better and Marc Cohn can't sing but will admit great classic
Mar Cohn can't sing? That's like saying Lee Greenwood can't sing. I love Lonestars cover but I don't have a preference between the two.
@InuLee213 not really.

I think marc cohn sings terribly, and this version gives this wonderful song justice. Haters shut up
LOL.. I thought this was the original.....
that's true
Meyieaea Sutherland ii
By saying Marc Cohn sings terribly, you have proven you are a hater yourself. So take your own advice, and shut up.
Wtf this version is better Marc Cole can't sing
This isn't the original by Marc Cohn. The original one is WAY better.
because I like lone star but they really screwed up big time when they made this song. But that is just my opinion.
lol well they undisliked it.
You're*
hahahah
17 dislikes now. Guess you need an extra clip.
This sucksss
They totally ruined this song. The Marc Cohn version sooo much better
best song ever
