i stayed at the ritz in hong kong once. the staff emailed me before I arrived asking for family pictures. They printed them and put them up with balloons and a hand signed note from the staff. as if the view and room weren’t special enough. that made it one of the best hotel stays i’ve ever had. the ritz really goes above and beyond

Use to live and work in cayman. I had several bookings as a singer guitarist for private parties. Played right in front of the ocean one evening facing hotel. Hundreds of people. The hotel was lit like an amphitheater it was a special memory for me. Thanks for the trip down memory lane😊🙏
Haha me too....played many a gig on the beach for weddings and parties and in the ballroom.....miss those days!

We’re you also working a day time job somewhere or full time musician? I worked as photo guy stingray city, as a dive guide also when I first went to the islands. What music did you play, I was just acoustic set, voice and guitar!

@@louiseprice4378 I never played in Blue although it was discussed at one point. I did also play in the cocktail lounge bar a couple of times. I guess they were exploring possibilities out with me. Blue was such an amazing restaurant I have to say.

Four seasons really kicks it's butt
i lived in GC for a couple of years. I'd lean over the railing and ask the fishermen what they had. in 20 mins from water to plate. I'd heard Morgan's Harbour had great food...the ceviche after one bite, i order another lol!!! Got scuba open water ticket... did the tests online! Was a great time...afterparty- wise. Expensive with CDN$/KYD$ exchange. If you network well, people are great. In two weeks, id met a CDN construction/ drywaller ( 400+ cut ceilings!!!) and his wife from Nicaragua. She insisted i stay with them. We both played guitar so free beer, waking to Julia (miss you jules) singing gospel while she cooked. Im spoiled now. How can I go to an all inclusive resort now? lol

He is a better option for you then “rewarded card” if you really want a better discount.
Work for Marriott on a “on call position” you’ll have the same hotel discount as a full time staff member. You’ll just need to work once every three months to keep your benefits.

Lol I just looked on the tag on my Towel and saw "made expressly for The Ritz Carlton". Lmao
the problem with these hotel cards is that their multipliers are pretty bad when considering value per point. So aside from sign up bonuses, it is tough to get 240k or so required for a 4 night stay from cobranded card spend. I think the Amex Gold with its 4x multipliers might be the best way to save up for an aspirational SPG or Hilton stay. Also, come February many of these are going up to 85k/night.

I’m going the summer to the western I’ve been to the ritz ( in the caymans) in 2017) if you never been there just know your gonna have lots of fun especially at the beach!

Your daughter must be REALLY well-behaved...after staying in nice (ish) hotels with my grandson when he was 2-4 years old, I cringed thinking how he would have utterly laid waste to that room in about 10 minutes. I'm looking forward to staying in some *really* nice hotels with him in Thailand and Japan next month, now that he's 5 y.o. and so much more grown up.
They first thing you do when you get to the room is unplug the phone!! I’m sure you know that one.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, very family friendly. Would never stay here as a couple. Kids playing soccer currently outside, not even 7 am. Paper thin walls and crying baby at 5 am. Can literally hear every word spoken next door.
Yeah the walls are too thin. I heard sex noises one night, luckily my kids were already asleep so i didnt have to explain it

Beautiful children. You seem to have a lovely family congrats. Great narrative. No gym and/or spa? No infinity pool or a pool for adults only? The bathroom needs a sunken bathtub. Just Asprey brand toiletries is not going to cut it.
There is definately a gym and spa, but being there with the family, I didn’t have time for that.

No, only silver. My wife actually linked her Amex account and got gold status half way through our stay, but you would need it at check in for an upgrade
The Credit Shifu did you it would’ve made a difference? Going next month but this is the first time I have gold status with Marriott

Random question but why did you take a cab instead of like Uber/Lyft?
I don't know if they have Uber/Lyft there, it's a tiny island with only 60k people, but also more importantly, no cellphone network on my US phone there.
We do not have Uber or Lyft. Only Taxis and are currently working on an Uber type service called Flex.
@@randomthatsme1 nice to know, it is better to develop a local service, keep the money within the community. You don't want Uber taking all your tourist dollars away....

i aint sure about this hotel life. i stayed in a 3* hotel in turkey with my mates by the beach all inclusive for £250 for the whole week?? why is this thing so expensive??

No one is answering this, so I will. I was there last December & Grand Cayman is way, way overpriced & has filthy garbage problems. On the land there is Mount Trashmore & the whole island stinks of sulpher. The waters are filled with garbage - beer bottles plastic forks. I've been to 22 islands , Europe etc & this was a place, a nightmare of deception & greed run by bankers [who I'm sure don't live there ]. Also the 5.5 mile beach is eroding as well as coral diseased & sadly dying. I wouldn't go back for free.
I wish someone had warned me not to go but they leave old photos up. Sorry if this bummed you out ....
