When the La Chat verse kicks in about all the bad stuff she's going to do, the beat is loud and upfront because she was the one in the car all along.
The opposite is true for a lot of people. He'll be doing a live video and so many people ask him to rap Guns and Ships. And they might not even know he's an actual MC. But I'm glad I knew clipping before Hamilton. It just shows why he was chosen for that part and I think it makes hearing him as Lafayette/Jefferson all the more enjoyable.

In fact I pretty much tune out any number rating. Making ratings on a number scale is so difficult because it's all relative.

Really, just about any track is a runner for the most gruesome/disturbing, since both Daveed and the production is at the top of their game. Personal 10/10 for me.

Shoutout to The Rita, Pedestrian Deposit and Sarah Bernat of 16 Bitch Pile-Up for very literally bringing the noise on their co-productions. Their contributions all reflect the unique character of their individual styles but are all integrated wonderfully. "Club Down" and "Attunement" are chilling, and the coda to "La Mala Ordina" is just, like, hot damn.

I really don't think Blood of the Fang is trying to "escape the violence". It's a long, involved homage to the Black Panthers and similar movements, and a critique of movements like early BLM.
Derek Otis I would say it's also about seizing the implicit power that the fear and hatred the system casts upon marginalised groups to actually fight structural violence instead of being afraid to embrace being a "monster." Not becoming the kind of vampire which is created by and upholds institutional racism, but to use that power in the blood to hunt them down.
