This PC is definitely still usable! Overclock that 3770k as far as it will go and the gpu is great for E-Sports titles as well! 16gb of RAM is still solid for 2025.
I had cuople of this pc's with i7 3960x and 64gb of ram. I remember 1 motherboard i have moved in new rgb case because customer whanted to and then i had 1 extra cosmos case, but i needed some psu adapter with sensor so i could use front panel. Anyway nice video, please make more.
It's being a while since I last saw a pc with that floppy drive.... 3770k still hold up quite a bit. still can play recent game. Still have 1 pc with this spec as backup.
I once had a non-booting pc with similar power button problem, but mine was caused by the power button internal components always being stuck down because someone pressed it too hard, so the pc was constantly resetting and never actually getting to POST. I had to disassemble the power button and fiddle with it to get the parts sliding again.
Ivy Bridge platform is still quite capable, even nowadays. I own a small Netcafe in my village and, for what people use the computers (mostly text editing, web browsing and light gaming), my I5-3550 machines (paired with 16Gb RAM, 240Gb SSD and GTX 1050Ti) still do the job perfectly and I don't intend to replace them soon.
It's always nice to see an old aluminum case. I managed to find an Antec P160, a much more conventional looking one, and I like it and use it. I don't need a big liquid cooling radiator which would require a modern case.
Did you replace thermal past for the VRMs and Chipsets? The Optical Drive and Floppy drive positions restrict airflow to the CPU. Place them above the HDD bay. After you touched the Heatsink Pipes did you clean it off with alcohol? Nice cleaning job.
Break parts cleaner spray works wonders too and it dries quite quickly. Just have to use it outdoors only in proper ventilation or you WILL get sick and nauseous. 🤢🤮 Ask me how I know. 🙄
Andrew, using inspiration from your videos, I changed the thermal paste on my lenovo laptop by myself. However, the GPU area of the laptop still runs hot. I used a lot of paste on the CPU, and didn't have enough left to put a dot extra after spreading the thermal paste on the GPU. Does this make a big difference ? I used thermal grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste. I play Sekiro at max settings for ~2 hours at a time.
Thanks Andrew great video. Is it safe to clean the inside of the power supply like that? Some big capacitors in there do they hold any residual charge?
Great refresh! Aside, man I did not like those bulbous early-mid 2000s cases at all. I kind of liked the Raidmax Scorpio cases - I had a bright yellow one myself, but ultimately it was just a chenming design rebadged. The black (or white) aesthetic with glass panel is the sweet spot for me; it reminds me of an early 1990s stereo case.
@@Pasi123Honestly, I never owned any gaming pc , just basic laptops with i5 processors, no dedicated gpu. So I am not very knowledgeable about these things. Hopefully I can build a good pc for myself after I get a job. Anyways, thanks for explaining ^_^.
No joke, throw a Linux distro on it and get more out of it. With exception to anti cheat games. This thing would run top on something like Fedora, or Cosmic.
People would be surprised how much they can get from "obsolete" gaming PC. Most of the claims about old hardware being obsolete comes from influencers who are getting paid for pushing people to have all the newest gen hardware at all time otherwise "they can't game" Mean while I have i5-6600k CPU and GTX 1060 6GB and it can still play Doom Eternal in 4k in mid to high settings -> for influencers this is obsolete system BTW. You don't always need newest and greatest especially if your budget is limited.
This pc is a top 2012 pc on steroids. The case screams late 2000s with firewire 400 and esata în the front. The cpu is i7 3770k, 16 gb ddr3 and rtx 2060. Rtx 2060 is the max I want on such pc.
I'm still running this motherboard with a 3770k overclocked to 4.2ghz, 32GB DDR3 and a 2070 Super and it still motors along, runs everything I want 1440p on ultra settings, I get the odd frame rate dip but for its age it's amazing.
Install a lighter version of windows 10 like windows10 lite or Ghost specter then disable specter and meltdown mitigation using an program called inspecter. Then use the chris Titus tech utility. These will drastically reduce the load on the CPU making it run faster and smoother especially for games since that 3770 is a major bottleneck to that 2060.

Meh, £35 for an additional 12 months of support, will take me through to October 26. I'm running a very similar setup and reluctant to upgrade for the sake of w11 anytime soon
Welcome back, king! 👑
Been waiting so long for new video !! Finally !!!
Old school is still good ! This PC Case could be a Nas, it has so many 5.25 bays !!!

Wait until Oct. Then you're stuck running Win10 with no security patches, Linux, or a bodged version of Win11.

The Coolermaster Cosmos, one of the most OTT cases back in the days of Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge!
they brought back a revised edtion few years back with painted interior lol such a chad case
Very nice video, I actually do the same thermal paste method just like you did, I just never thought someone else would do it too.
I can use one like that as my main pc bro it's a dream for me
CoolerMaster cosmos.. was the most beautiful case.. i owned cosmos II ultra tower before sold it several years ago..
The pc case is dope
Can you make a video about your setup?
I still rock a rtx 2060 12gb with a ryzen 5 3600 and 48gb of ddr4 ram. It's a great setup. Gpu Still plays anything I try to play.
Ok está chido el español automático, pero a mí me gusta este canal en inglés Hello my name is Andrew es mejor a mis oídos ❤
The 3770 punches above its weight for its age
Especially when overclocked.
this "old" pc is newer than my pc😢

I've been gaming quite a bit on a 3770 and 4590 recently, and they hold up amazingly well with a 1070.
Impressive as always

That case is legandary !!
Btw. Did you use distilled water for cleaning the heatsink? Because I know that using normal tap water causes corrosion to aluminum heatsinks.
You can also use isopropyl alcohol to clean them

It would be interesting to try to modify it aesthetically, colouring the case and other parts maybe a different colour as you do on laptops❤️
