For anyone whose penguin seem to be leaning to one side or look flat, you should check your stitches regularly next time to see if they're even or not. If your stitches slowly become looser while doing increase rounds, the top of your penguin would be flat. If you tend to loosen on a side, your penguin will lean to the other side. The opposite is true for tightening (tighten one side, your penguin will lean to that side). Do not fix this by doing the opposite extreme on the next round. Example: you notice that on the last round, at the back of the penguin head, you have tighten the yarn too much so the penguin head seem to curve inside so you decide to loosen your yarn a bit this round on this round in hope of cancelling the curve. However, by doing so, you'll create a ripple. If you find that some stiches you've made are not even, just frog them and redo. Yeah, it's quite frustrating to frog such a big distance but this is the point of practice. It's pretty normal to frog while making a project. Plus, if you ever try designing something, you'd definitely have to frog very regularly. Also, by the nature of crochet, your stitches will tend to diagonally lend to the side of your crochet hand. To fix this, you can either practice (as this project is small enough for leaning not to be noticeable) or switch to “yarn under” in desperation.
By leaning do you mean how the stitches seem to go diagonally? When I try to make the penguin the white part keeps slightly shifting to the left and it's driving me crazy - I've undone and redone it like a million times checking that my stitches are even and that I'm not skipping stitches and everything but it's not improving at all. It wasn't a problem when I was just using one color because it's not too noticeable, but when I'm trying to color change it's super uneven and I don't know how to fix it. Do you have any suggestions?
@@ilanayousuf1376 here’s the thing: crochet stitches will always go diagonally. As long as the stitches are even, at this size, the lean isn’t really noticeable. However, if you can’t stand it, I’d suggest switching to the “yarn under” style, which should significantly decrease this problem.
Use the X stitch (yarn under) as well as stitching in front loops only the entire time. Might have to switch to a smaller crochet hook to avoid getting holes in between stitches

In the video linked you're not learning how to make anything but learning the basics, which can be used to create doll heads, penguins, bees, etc. It was really helpful to me and gave me the confidence to try a pattern - and made this penguin tutorial completely doable and easy! Really cute pattern, but for next time you should consider using colors that do not look that similar, at least for me it was hard to understand whenever you switched colors

I love this tutorial! I've made two cute yet derpy penguins. But I have a slight problem. When I'm done with the white or the belly of the penguin, it all looks like it shifted to the left. So the white is all slanted. Is there something I'm doing wrong or something I can do to fix it?
Use stitch markers to mark your last stitch from each yarn color. Since all the project is done with slip stitches is easy to loose track of it. Hope this helps, don’t you give up ! 🙂
Even though I'm doing the color change exactly as shown (pull the new color through to complete the final stitch of the other color) my work is slanted. Does anyone know how to fix this?

@@marinak7133 i'm only seeing this now but thank you!!
The Pinguin is so adorabel😍🐧
Thankiewww ;)
just a little tip: you don't need to cut off the yarn, you can just change them without cutting and u'll use the same ammount of yarn or even less
How do you do that?
Nice tutorial! I making one for someone’s Christmas present! I hope they will like it, but I’m sure they will! And I’m also gonna make a cute little adoption box for it! I also made a dog, for another person, and I bet they will love it too! ❤️
I managed to make one because I'm not a beginner and cute video but too fast for a beginner and it took me a while to realise you were using yarn as a stitch marker i thought you were changing colour I was so confused hahaha ... Got there in the end
Does your penguin turn out exactly the same? Just curious because mine was off...
@@SidneyTung1177 yes it did.
Really cute pattern, but for next time you should consider using colors that do not look that similar, at least for me it was hard to understand whenever you switched colors
I have done 2 penguins!! But the white part is moved for one side a little bit, and Idk what happens because I followed all the video with all the details
:( i dont know where i make the mistake
it could be the very first row of the white part, I messed mine up, the two white sc should be directly on top of the 4 sc white underneath it, mine came out uneven
Very nice the pattern thank you very much I will try it.
I'm having one heck of a time trying to start this... I cant get it right
You can check out other videos on how to make a magic circle, it can also be the type of yarn you’re using (softer yarn works better for me). Otherwise it’s really just practice! Goodluck
Eek! This is so cute!! I want a crochet kit for chrismas, so I can make this!
So adorable.
you are hearting everyone
:D i plan to turn this into a baby cockatiel because THIS IS SO DARN CUTE
Thank you so much ;)

Eu consegui fazer!!! Muito obrigada pelo tutorial
I am from Brazil 🇧🇷
🌸✨🌺 Thanks!
Me ajudaaaa, n entendi oq aconteceu q do 11 pulou pro 16.
شكرا لقد استفدت كثيرا بطريق رائع❤🐥
I love this tutorial! I've made two cute yet derpy penguins. But I have a slight problem. When I'm done with the white or the belly of the penguin, it all looks like it shifted to the left. So the white is all slanted. Is there something I'm doing wrong or something I can do to fix it?
Use stitch markers to mark your last stitch from each yarn color. Since all the project is done with slip stitches is easy to loose track of it.
Hope this helps, don’t you give up !
🙂
You may inbox me a photo of your penguin on instagram ya. let me see if I could help you :)
I had the same issue! What do I do?
naturally crochet has a slant because you work in a spiral towards the left :)
@@dreamcraftsbymilia2299 I had the exact same issue! Do you what causes it?
i made this and it was so easy and adorableeee im gonna make it for all my friends
Even though I'm doing the color change exactly as shown (pull the new color through to complete the final stitch of the other color) my work is slanted. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Each round are at the correct stitches? you may show me the photo ya, pls contact me thru instagram or email ;)
@hailie anne were you able to fix this? im still having this issue :(
Just finished round six (this note is for me to keep track)
I just made it to the part to add the cotton… i dont have cotton so i have to wait till i get some. It is adorable so far except i messed up on the white part a little bit but this is my first crocheting project so i think i did very well for my first time😊
I want to cry they are just 2 cute!!!
They're so cute!! I totally need to make one for my sister and give it a lil Santa Hat for Christmas ^^
I'm making this for my cousins and I just made the 1st one it is very cute
My white was going all in one direction after some rounds. I don't know what I'm doing wrong
For example color A and color B:
I usually change from color A to color B on the last stitch on color A. Hope this helps you!
Me had been trying to learn crotchet for only 3 days and watches her crotchet in 2 holes at a time be like: *_how is this even a easy project I give up_*
start with blankets straight lines are simple
Starry - don’t give up! It took me waaay too long to learn to crochet. After many hooks flung at walls and yarn thrown away in frustration, I can finally do some fun stuff. And, yes, start with a blanket first. Much easier. Good luck!
@@jenniferwilcox7021 is that for beak pattern? I'm struggling doing the 4 sc 😭
@@icepenpitchatornkul6902 I swear, the beak was the HARDEST part of the entire penguin 😭 I literally just ditched their method and ended up doing it my own way because I just couldn't do the 4 sc with their way... I ended up doing a 6 sc in 3 chains instead!
@@severineg8702 lol i just started crocheting and i'm already working on stuff like this, i don't have the patience for a blanket
Can you please have the instructions written in the description bar? That would be amazing!
Farah Khan there is one on top that someone wrote ya. 😊
Wow that's amazing
Others:I need one
Me:I NEED 10 MILLION OF THOSE
I learned so much from you! thank you!
You are so welcome!
Es taan bonito el pratrón!! muchas gracias por compartirlo, ya voy por el segundo y para regalo es de lo más adorable
Could someone tell me what is she using for the blush? And would the blush powder work on bigger type of yarn?
wow very beautiful ❤❤
Hermosos ¡! 😍 muchas gracias por traducirlo al español latino ...un fuerte abrazo desde México con mucho cariño 🌹😘🇲🇽
Ella no fue lo que traducio el video ;)
You should use a darker color for the tutorial, it was hard to see and follow. Still came out adorable thanks
This is adorable
Thank you!
Hi I made this I'll tag you on my insta story. It's so easy to follow that u so much for this amazing tutorial.🤗
very cute! I'd love to make a couple. One question, is there a reason that you don't just carry the white yarn around instead of cutting and tying at each round? Thanks,
I tried carrying the white yarn around and it might get too tight at the side, so I change to the way I am using currently ;)
So cute😍, thanks for sharing the pattern.
I'm in step three, I hope I can make it 😅
I just made it, super fast and adorabble
Está hermoso. Muchas gracias. Ahora soy tu nueva suscriptora 😊
