Wow just think, 20 years. I remember the old days when you got to level 10 and chose a subclass and then got to level 20 and did your profession questing - Fighter/Warrior/Guardian or Priest/Cleric/Templar. Do you remember if you died you lost a soul and you were permanently de buffed until you went and got it. I still have the original game in my garage. This is my favourite game of all time. I play now for nostalgia and it reminds me of a time in life when things were better.

Played eq2 when it came out for 5 years straight. Wife and i just booted it up TONIGHT and were lost. 😆 Want to show her the bog marsh eventually which reminds me of home.
@@Renfail There was a point where the pet controls just disappeared. Took me quite some time before i realised one could toggle it on/off using Alt-P. also can the controls be put into the hotkeys?
I've started many times (played once at launch but didnt get too far, and played to max level once about 15 years ago), but the bloat at the beginning is too overwhelming and I quit hours later. This is helpful, thanks!
As far as skill bloat goes, I've found it pretty easy to just ignore all but 2-3 hotbars, which is standard for pretty much every MMORPG out there. You can fill up other hotbars in an out-of-the-way place to ignore those things you don't use on a regular basis, and whittle it down to a good 10-15 that you use on a regular basis and bam, you've got a hotbar layout that is just the same as an other game :)
@@Renfail indeed. I don't really need it but it does help speed up some quests. Any suggestions for free to play leveling formy 98 berserker barbarian? I've finished all the quests for cobalt scar and tranquil seas. I tried agnostics and that is the most boring thing I've ever done on everquest, plus the mobs lost 1% hp every 30 seconds and werent damaging me at all lol not really sure where to get my last two levels.
