Only to save their own a$$ they stole her inheritance too and are just as guilty and nasty as the rest. Unless they give her what they took I hope they rot in hell.
Everyone was in on it. But, she doled it out. She's the most suspect. What asshole people. They should all do jail time. Even, the ones that helped. That's bullshut they got off with nothing.
No they stole from her. They have not given back what they stole. They cooperated to save their own a$$. They are horrible people to steal from a child. Poor them to give up what they stole. BS they are as guilty as the rest just more manipulative
@@axepagode4321Yes, she's 18 now, but wasn't until a week before she found the money box empty. The mother denied her for an account for as long as she was legally able to. OP even says it in the first part, that she checked the box because she could finally open a bank account. I'm not convinced the story is real, there's a couple of other things that feels off, but that specific part really do check out.
Half a million is not going to go that far if all of both family's are involved - maybe if it were 50 million, lawyers' fees would eat up anything she gets.
Mistake #1 : Cash that everybody knows about. Mistake #2 : Having it in a place everybody knows about. NO! You stash the cash somewhere NOBODY knows about. I had a friend in high school that had the WORST locker in all the high school , on a 3rd -story building on the 3rd floor in a building that was set apart from the other buildings --- NOBODY climbed those stairs unless they HAD to (no elevators for years). Her locker was the safest place in town. She went to the thrift store and bought old college textbooks and made homemade "book safes" out of them, so if there ever was a locker search NOBODY looked at her "books in that locker. She put all her cash in those book safes, even after getting off work in the evening -- campus was open late for football practice or baseball practice and the janitors got used to her coming and going late evenings around 8PM. She had an account with the marching band to pay for her trip with the band to Europe, she paid her installment every Monday when the parent club grownup was there to keep up the bookkeeping for the Europe trip. When her deposit and fees were paid up, she used the rest of her money to buy her suitcases and clothes for the band trip to Europe. Take a TIP -- stash your cash in a place NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT. I know another person who stashed their cash in their metal pipe for the curtain rod. Nobody cared enough to bother with something like that. Wow get it RIGHT people. PROTECT YOUR CASH.
Always keep this in mind if somebody in your family steals from you they won't think twice of kicking you out of the house when you're old enough to be declared an adult! They will steal your car and sell it 😢
Never forgive her mother. She STOLE OP’s inheritance. Stole from her child and her dead husband. There’s not much more she could do to make it any worse.
This is heartbreaking. Your dad would be so proud of you for fighting for what's rightfully yours.
I'm speechless. I can't believe your whole family was in on it. That's some serious betrayal.
I'm so glad you found out about the inheritance. Your dad was looking out for you.
You're doing the right thing. Justice will be served.
Your mom's apology means nothing. Actions speak louder than words.
Damn, your mom's a piece of work. How could she do that to her own child? I'm so sorry, OP.
Joe's business idea: "Step 1: Marry a woman with a kid. Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit!"
God I thought of Chazz from Helluva boss when I read this 🤣
I'm glad your paternal grandparents are helping.
Only to save their own a$$ they stole her inheritance too and are just as guilty and nasty as the rest. Unless they give her what they took I hope they rot in hell.
well, it was either that or they get charged for using all her trust fund.
Everyone was in on it. But, she doled it out. She's the most suspect. What asshole people. They should all do jail time. Even, the ones that helped. That's bullshut they got off with nothing.
This is why I don't trust stepparents. They're always up to something.
Forget the stepfather. Her mother betrayed her as well.
This is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Lawyer up, OP! Get that money back.
You deserve every penny of that inheritance. Don't let them get away with this.
OMG, this is wild! OP, you're so strong for going through all this. Sending you virtual hugs!
Half a million... he's never going to see that money again and that's just horrible...
Force them to work work work and sell everything they own
You're going to come out of this stronger than ever, OP. I believe in you.
You're so strong for handling this.
Thank you for sharing your story. It's been an emotional rollercoaster.
I'm speechless. I can't believe your family did this to you.
Money can change people
I'm so glad you found your grandparents. They sound like amazing people.
Amazing they are not. They willingly participated in theft of OP's inheritance.
No they stole from her. They have not given back what they stole. They cooperated to save their own a$$. They are horrible people to steal from a child. Poor them to give up what they stole. BS they are as guilty as the rest just more manipulative
I'm so invested in this.
This story needs to be a Netflix series.
You mother can't stop an 18 year old from opening a bank account. Why did you think that she could?
Okay, you clearly didn’t pay attention to the timeline of everything 🤦♀️
She had turned 18 the week before she found the money missing from her box
Did you listen? You need a parent or guardian to sign for a bank account if under the age 18, shes been working 3 years prior and just turned 18
@@danielledines4508 I did listen. Did you? The FIRST thing she said was "I am 18F". As soon as she got push back, her story changed.

OP lost both parents on the same day. 😢😢😢
You're an inspiration, OP. You're turning a terrible situation into an opportunity for growth and justice.
This story is wild. I can't stop reading.
I'm glad you're getting some closure.
This story is insane. I'm so invested. Please keep us updated on what happens.
Sending you love and light.
I'm so sad for you. This is a lot to handle.
You're a badass for standing up to them.
I'm glad you're staying with your paternal grandparents. They sound like they genuinely care about you.
Your dad would be proud of you. You're fighting for what's right.
Justice will prevail!
Your strength is admirable.
Don't let this define you. You have a bright future ahead.
I hope you can find some peace. This is a heavy burden to carry.
This explains so much. Your mom needs help, not just jail time.
OP’s Paternal Grandparents are just as guilty as everyone else. What an awful family
Do you have any solution to help her?
I can't believe people can be so cruel.
OP, you're not alone. Many people have gone through similar situations.
I'm speechless.
This family needs their own reality show.
I hope they throw the book at them.
Gambling addiction is no joke. It's a terrible disease.
I need a drink after reading this.
This is like a movie plot!
I'm crying reading this.
Stay strong, OP. We're all here for you.
Keep your head up.
This is a cautionary tale. Be careful who you trust with your money.
Never give up.
You're a survivor.
Can't wait for the Lifetime movie adaptation.
You're not alone in this fight.
You're an inspiration.
Holy moly! Half a million dollars?! Your mom is going DOWN.
My heart breaks for you.
NTA. Not even close. Your family is messed up, and you deserve justice. I hope you get every penny back.
Half a million is not going to go that far if all of both family's are involved - maybe if it were 50 million, lawyers' fees would eat up anything she gets.
Sending you strength.
I can't wait for the next update!
Hugs to you. This is so unfair.
Please update us! We're all rooting for you.
This is a reminder to never keep all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your savings, people!
You're going to get through this.
For Gambler nothing could satisfy their hungry... Its a addiction..
500k wasn't enough she even too 12k savings OP been working for 3 years.
This is insane. Your mom needs serious help.
I'm sending you positive vibes.
You're stronger than you know.

If you forget where you hid it, the cash is lost forever.
This is beyond messed up. Your mom's email is sickening.
I hope you get every penny back.
I would rent out the vacation home.
You've got this.
I'm calling Maury Povich.
Don't let them steal your dreams.
You're doing the right thing by taking legal action. Don't let anyone guilt you into backing down.
The gambling addiction doesn’t explain the gifts to anyone. She stole to look good to others too.
This is why I keep my money under my mattress.
We believe in you.
You're an amazing person.
Your mom's email is a masterpiece of gaslighting.
You deserve so much better.
If my family stole my savings I'd simply turn their lives hell to the point they had to give all that money back.
I hope you get all the money back, plus some. Your mom and Joe deserve to be punished for what they did.
Don't fall for her manipulation. She's trying to isolate you.

This is like a movie plot, but way worse. Your mom needs serious help. Addiction is no joke.
I don’t blame op for what she did because her mom had no business wasting her daughter money 💰
If you were the OP, how would you handle the situations in this story?
Your mom's addiction doesn't excuse her actions, but it does provide some context. It's a complex situation.
Never forgive her mother. She STOLE OP’s inheritance. Stole from her child and her dead husband. There’s not much more she could do to make it any worse.
I understand your anger and frustration.
This is infuriating.
Your mom's a genius. She figured out how to get rich quick - steal from her kid. /s
Your mom needs therapy, not jail. But she also needs to face the consequences of her actions.
Your mom's email was a classic manipulation tactic. She's trying to isolate you. Don't fall for it.
