The Debate on Reverse Discrimination

- Dr. Phil delves into the very sensitive topic of discrimination. The news has reported claims of discrimination against white people in university admissions, graduation ceremonies, and college welcome weeks. Similar claims have been made in the workplace. Political commentator and activist Candace Owens contends that reverse discrimination does exist, while Dr. Luke Wood and Dr. John Pascarella disagree. PragerU podcast host Amala Ekpunobi and activist Danielle D’Souza say they believe America is obsessed with race. Comedian Tyler Fischer claims he was discriminated against in the entertainment industry because of race, and school teacher Alexis discusses teacher layoffs in Minneapolis. (21025)

As a black woman, I completely agree with Candace. We shouldn’t be pitied because of our skin color, we should be looked at as equals, and that includes equal opportunities for all races. If a white person is denied acceptance on the basis of their skin color, then that is discrimination. Diversity shouldn’t be forced, it should be accepted.
You’re a sellout
The worse thing we can do is pity someone wrongly. If someone is poor they are poor. No matter what color they are. The color of their skin didn’t nor shouldn’t have made their poor. It’s about poor choices. We all know some people are born into money. Which also doesn’t make them more intelligent just because their parents were. Working hard to get what you want is more fulfilling in more ways that money.
It’s not about pitying someone. This stemmed from situations like this… in 1972 when there was a black man with a doctorate and 10 years experience, a white boss would still not hire him solely because he was black, he would hire a white man with no degree because he trusted him more, based on race. Affirmative action was counter to negative action. Affirmative action would give the black man with a doctorate a tiny bit of a (deserved) chance to be considered for the position. That was necessary in a time when many companies would throw out black applications and avoid hiring any blacks simply because they didn’t agree with the civil rights bill, and real racism existed. It exists today still, but in a lesser form. We certainly should alter these policies to ensure that it keeps with the times, but affirmative action at a point in our history was necessary. That is a fact.
@@katiem4539 we have come a long way from 1972. We need to keep the message strong that equal is equal. The only way we do that is if we start acting and treating everyone like it is. Love only come in only one color. Equally love everyone. That’s doesn’t mean I have to be their gender or color or religion to love them.
When Communists make arguments for "equality", what they actually mean, is Sameness. Equality under the law, is enough, I don't need to be like anyone else.

It's funny whenever Dr Phil has a guest like Candace on. The people debating the other side act like they've never been confronted with a real argument before it's very eye opening
Does Professor George Jefferson think OJ needed a leg up to murder his white wife?
Because they have not. They created an Echo chamber to rival the nazis, the CCP, NK, Iran, etc. In some ways they have achieved a far greater echo chamber because they did it in a nation with "Free Speech".
That is not an act. Their way of thinking has never truly been challenged which is why they think it. I was once a liberal too
Well Said.
They are actors.
As a black woman who got into my very good university because of my skills (in European universities they don’t ask what race you are) and went on to perform very well, I HATE that people assume I got in because of affirmative action! What this policy has done is actually compel me to overachieve just to prove that I belonged there, and this went on even in the job environment.
Thomas Sowell actually talks to this, does such a thorough job of his analysis of affirmative action, a master of debating these issues.
There really isn't a particular obligation to prove your academic competence to those around you by overachieving. It should be done based on your self driven determination, not to keep proving points to irrelevant individuals...that's my opinion.

@@IMBLACKDAMMIT heard of secret Santa gift exchange? You don’t have participate
Christmas presents are given by people who you have created a close bond with. It is the people who you appreciate, not the gift even if it's something you wanted. This can be easily demonstrated by giving out a bunch of free stuff to people you don't know. It will not be appreciated the same way as if a beloved family member had given it to them. People, by nature, misuse things that they did not earn. One of the most glaring examples of this is the number of people who have won the lottery and it ruined their lives.
That's the literal history of yt Americans. Still stealing or being awarded things in 2023 that they did not earn. How do we rectify a broken system if we don't dismantle it first? It's either dismantle it or add to it to try to rectify the continued issues...that is what Affirmative Action is trying to do. @@rigelb9025 like you’re mom
When Woods was at Sac State as a student...he was just as liberal, just as woke. He hasn't changed
She is 100% spot on. When you lower the standards for a specific set of people to allow them access to a college or university, you set them up for failure. The only way to ensure they don't fail is to then lower the standards for the entire university that they're attending, in order to facilitate their graduation. Which means that degree isn't nearly as meaningful as it once was, because the quality of the students attaining it drops significantly.
Here's an extreme example, 5 high schools in Baltimore aren't producing a single student who's competent at math. Now if they were allowed into Harvard because they were black, and then began failing, it wouldn't be because they were black. It would be because they didn't have the necessary educational background in order to succeed. So then if you lower the standards to the point that they could succeed, thereby lowering the standards for everyone else, Harvard would cease to be the revered educational institution it's become known for. Instead a Harvard degree would be worth less than a University of Phoenix online degree.
Bro this is too much facts and logic for my feelings. 😂😂😂 Joke aside, you are right and this is very sad. Lowering the standards for black people is pure racist. It is saying to them that they are inferior and stupid.

Food for thought: Why is there so much focus on affirmative action but not legacy admissions? It is estimated that anywhere from 25 to 35% of admitted students at Ivy League schools come from a family with a legacy status. And you know who those students typically are? Wealthy White students. You shouldn't be admitted to a school based on family alumni status or because you have wealth. Candace is absolutely right here. We know that standards for entry into universities are raised and lowered based on race and ethnicity. This is why affirmative action is on the verge of being eliminated because Asians are being discriminated by these schools by making them reach a higher standard for testing and demoting them for “undesirable personality traits.” When you lower the bar for admissions and then level the bar for all students after acceptance it is not surprising to see students who were accepted with subpar academics immediately falling behind. Also at the freshman level no professor is identifying students as “thugs” or “degenerates” at an individual level because those freshman classes usually take place in an auditorium with 300 students in it. My professors always said the same thing. “Come to the class, do the reading and you’ll pass the test.” What do the majority of the students do? They don’t show up, they don’t do the homework and then they complain when they fail the final.
Affirmitive action was created to prevent discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, and veteran status...as someone who worked in admissions for 9 years i will tell you they ALL come into play...but notice how the coversation for AA is normally centered around race only, and then ask yourself why that is?

Many many artists did not excel academically, in fact many flunked. Our whole educational system is based on Western Civilization values, i.e, logic. And many artists worked in low level jobs to support their art career, musicians, etc. In Austria all the arts are funded by the government. I guess they learned the hard way, as Hitler was Austrian and was denied art school. I feel very strongly against insisting every child excel academically. I was a very bad student academically and have had a rich artistic life, I am self-supporting, and over 70 -- self-educated. I also feel when they are against affirmative action, maybe they forget that women were denied teaching. Women, the only way they could get an academic career was to become a nun. And let's not forget veterans, many got their educations on the Government programs. So I don't think we can put people in one basket.
I like the university Education Professor LUKE WOODS. He is more Calm and Collected unlike the others..
The way to do it is obfuscate and remove protected characteristics from the admission review.
I love Candace! I'm so glad she's on this episode. I can't wait to watch it
And she's the reason I'm unsubscribing Dr Phil. You would do well to look into her background.
It's now obvious that Dr. Phil is desparate for guests. He's stooped to bring Candace Owens on his show.
@Dian Dian cry about it. Dr Phil's guests don't reflect his views. These sit down talks are made to show different viewpoints and once again you guys on the left can't stand to see it.
@@belladonna309 The hypocrisy of her and the people who support her is mind-blowing. NGL, she made great points but it's all surface. He makes great points and she refuses to acknowledge them and same goes for her fans. He's talking about the grassroots and she's insisting on a personal experience. You can't argue with someone like her tbf. She claimed she gave him "facts" and then he responded "no, I gave you facts" and she got mad lol. It's all facts based on your pov. The issue is she constantly refuses to acknowledge his pov. She genuinely believes if someone disagrees with her, they're misguided and must be dumb.
@Bella Donna she was a teenager and had no control over that. It was the teachers that did all that
They always like to spin what they’re saying onto conservatives or republicans every time and I’m just so over it already. They aren’t even aware of doing it anymore it took Candace to literally tell him that he’s the one making those assumptions 😂🤯🤯🤯🤯
I'm not American, not living in the US and I'm not a conservative either. But I'm completely agree with Candace on this matter. How in the world that man's take out on Candace's words was as if her seeing the black students in question as inferiors? English isn't my first language, yet all I can see is either he spoke that way just for the sake of hem being in the opposite of whatever she's saying, or he's just being himself - a person who can't comprehend reasons.
“Professor of Education” lol that’s all I needed to see.
whoever that man was commenting with the blue shirt is a gem.
Thank you.
Love you Candace!!!
It’s not reverse discrimination it’s discrimination period. Hire based on skill not skin color or gender.
There is something I like to call the Spectrum of Hate. A spectrum shaped like circle! It's core is egoism, the belief that you are better than everyone else, or that you're more entitled and so on.
Every form of hatred can be traced right back to egoism.
This spectrum helps to explain more perceivably how and why people unite within their hatred. It's because their egoes are similar and because they hate the same things. That's when you get things like sexism and racism. As long as egoism remains to fuel the core of that spectrum, you'll always hate someone or something, for absolutely no good reason.
The best solution to rid the world of all it's problems, is to simply stop hating. And to stop hating, we need to learn to love more than just ourselves and our immediate surrounding friends and family. If every human on this planet can learn to love and respect everyone else, then wars would end. And we'd have that Utopia we've always wanted.
But hey! I'm just some random person that nobody knows or cares about. So what do I know?
“You’re making the assumption that black students are academically inferior”
She literally did not say that but ok
Also there’s a section of this episode where a white comedian said he was told that by venues they couldn’t book a show because he was white and when the comedian asked the college professor if that was ok for him to be told that, the professor gave a roundabout answer to a straightforward question
Amen Candace! 💪🏾
People generally don’t like being patronized. They wanna be taken seriously on their own merits.
That professor is a WOKE JOKE. If higher higher Ed has people like him, then people should avoid college altogether.
Candace always on point!
She's absolutely gorgeous 😍 love from Liverpool ♥️🇬🇧
Only if you're to dumb to know any better
No such thing as "reverse discrimination". It's discrimination.
Candace is the best! I’m so glad she was there to face the disturbing woke professor.
My Latina daughter is a straight A student while my husbands white daughter has been failing.. Same household, same school, same education, same wealthy town etc.. Soooo yeah it’s actually up to the kid 😅
It sounds like you have resentment toward your step daughter especially if she lives in your household and you can’t even be a mother figure to her
@@bigsmoke7381 “Resentment” eh wrong word, I’m pissed that she’s failing, she doesn’t listen to my husband & I.. My point is sometimes it’s just the kid, some kids have stronger personalities then others…I have 5 sisters & we were raised in the same household, with two parents, Christian school & everything but we are all different some of us were rebellious & some were not..
@@tovah8841 well if you don’t consider yourself as a mother figure why would she listen to you
@@bigsmoke7381 I’m her step mother, 🤦🏻♀️ she doesn’t listen to me or her own father.. Shes rebellious..& she’s disrespectful towards her own mother & curses her out.. Explain that..
@@tovah8841 Them that’s probably the reason she is failing. She clearly has something going on that’s making her lash out at her mother and be rebellious. Maybe you should try figure out what the issue is. No kids just curses their parents just because.
Candace destroyed the other guy lol 🔥
Discrimination is Discrimination.
Candace is so clear on the issue. It’s too bad others who ignore the evidence refuse to see what really needs to be done.
Thank God for candace ❤
Uh, most people are at university for "financial gain". That is what it is designed to do by enriching the self with knowledge.
Yassss Candace! 💖
That's a very impressive lady. 👍👍
there is no "reverse discrimination". It's just discrimination.
Revert racism is like saying anti pasta has pasta in it
Reverse(??) Discrimination? LOL its just called racial discrimination.
