My son was beaten by a student in a Nevada school. He was only charged with a misdemeanor. Only had to do community service. My son had a concussion and had to have stitches in his mouth. The school took no responsibility. This happens too often in Las Vegas schools.

I have a theory that the issue with these young kids and mob mentality seeming so severe now has a lot to do with being so involved in the internet where you can jump in and say whatever you want and act like a monster behind your keyboard and it’s just carrying over into the way these kids are behaving daily. This is so heartbreaking.

I was with her and told her not to say anything ,Because we were in a different area Than where we live and you just never know. I was nervous walking to the car. She has told kids on the playground to stop picking on some little kids.. And I have told her please be careful, You don't know how people are going to react. It's a scary/sad world where we have to be a fear for our children who are trying to do the right thing. This is One I'm going to share with my daughter and remind her. I understand what you’re trying to say, but in what world would teenagers report a fight to the police before it happened? Have you been to high school? There are fights constantly. The only ones to blame are the teens who beat this kid to death. No one had any responsibility to call in a fight between teenagers, especially when no one expected him to die. The police would be inundated with phone calls on a daily basis if every whisper of a fight was reported.
Edited to add: my main point is that it’s just unrealistic, unfortunately.
Now, the kids who stood around and watched while they beat this poor boy, that’s when someone should have called the police.

Hate crime is a very rarely charged crime because the crime would have had to occur solely because of the victim's race, disability, religion, etc. This occurred because they were mad he stepped in to help in a fight that was allegedly planned and set by the fighters to fight. The was just fight. It was not a hate crime. Also, hate crimes are not charged often even when roles are reversed. Lay people call things hate crimes out of emotion and outrage, but the law is very specific about what constitutes a hate crime.

Couldn’t agree more. Just heartbreaking. We’re teaching young people to look through the scope of either oppressor or oppressed. The escalation of violence in the West is terrifying. These evil people feel emboldened by the narrative of the MSM. If the races were reversed, this would be national news, it would be labeled a hate crime, Biden would speak on it and there would likely be rioting in the streets, or ‘mostly peaceful protests’ as CNN calls it. If we’re being intelligently honest with ourselves, we all know this is horrible but true. It helps none of us, only the powers that be and want to control us. I truly pray I do not offend anyone by stating very sad and troubling facts, it’s not my intention to sound divisive. Just the opposite. Evil is evil. Good is good. This is not a matter of race, rather what the hell is wrong with us as a society to care more (or less) when there’s a narrative to protect. Especially with young people, this is just heartbreaking!
Sending EVERYONE love and prayers in these dark times. Rest in peace, sweet young man ❤

@@tcplee 15? I read they were about 10 approximately? The version of the video I watched was blurred, so can't say for certain, for now, that they were all one race. But, if this was the case & your scenario was true, then I do not doubt that it would be decried by some as a "hate crime" as well. However, that kind of cry coming from a minority that lives under & believes the system is rigged against them, is inevitable. It's like this indispensable tool(or weapon) that is/has become necessary to fight a very present hydra of unfair advantage, real &/or perceived. So, as a white person, shouldn't you be rest assured that the same system would work in your favour? What would your cry be about if that system is taking requisite actions already? Isn't that the purpose of its employ by those aforementioned? Most of them (13-17yearsold) are already being charged as adults. Those stupid black boys involved just put their own lives in the hands of that same system & will be dealt with especially. ......
      I digress.
But, anyways, from the story being told presently, it doesn't qualify as a "hate crime". When we learn more, & fully, about events surrounding the incident & the incident itself, then it should be clear what type of crime this was. Will, probably, boil down to who delivered the deadly stomps to the dead boy's head.

I raised 2 children who would never do this, I can not imagine the type of life they had to have or go through to behave like this. Unfortunately, when teens show behaviour issues, nothing is done. This probably could have been prevented if the ones doing the beating had been paid attention to before hand. I feel so much sadness for this child and his family and he did not deserve this. One time I was walking late at night in Las Vegas with my backpack and my skateboard, next thing I know I was somewhat surrounded by a lot of black kids, maybe 14 to 17 years old. I had a feeling something was up, before I could react I remember getting punched in the face. I actually know how to fight and I've been through a hard life myself. But these kids surrounded me, and they were kids. I put my hands up to fight them and while I was paying attention to the one that punched me another one was trying to get me from behind but he couldn't punch me, they then took all my stuff my backpack and my skateboard while I was preoccupied with a couple other ones, thank God to bystanders came and they ran off and I started chasing them and they dropped all my stuff except for my skateboard. I don't think these young kids understand what they're doing is a robbery, that could get them locked up for a very long time but if you're going to do that to a random bystander you deserve to be locked up for a long time.

I used to fight when 13-15 at school. I played hockey and loved fighting which was very normal in the 80s NHL to have two or more fights per game. I would punch as hard as I could to the head like in hockey fights not knowing how dangerous it really was. I stopped fighting completely after I had a fight with my best friend and he got a bad concussion and went to the hospital with his mother. I felt so bad and it sickens me to think about it. At least I learned from it and he recovered but died at 28 years old to a heroin overdose. So sad. Tragic this case. Young people don’t truly understand that you can easily kill somebody with violence and kids rev each other up and the individual may lose his effort to reflect so it is a tragedy for the killers as well who play video games where you can restart the game unlike in real life.

When I was in highschool I was sitting at the table next to my regular group. (They were ALOT of drama. Always started lies about me just so they could try to fight me, they catfished me, spread rumors ect. By this point it was coming to the end of the friendships because I realized how toxic it was because it was everyday something new was happening) Well during this one lunch in particular my ears picked up on one of them saying something to the likes of "Im gonna jump her." "You take the first swing and we'll all join in." "Yeah it'll be great." And I knew instantly they were talking about one of the girls in the groups birthday party that was that weekend that I was supposed to be invited to. I saw one of them looking so guilty and as we went to leave the cafeteria I actually grabbed him and asked if it was me they were talking about and he just quietly nodded and while making sure they weren't watching told me not to go because the other 8 were all planning on jumping me as soon as I got there alone.
Needless to say I didn't go but I've never been more convinced in my life that I would've probably died if I had because I knew them too well. I still haven't been able to have friends since and it's been 10 years. I just can't put any effort into trusting anyone anymore.
One of the girls was notorious for fighting other kids and not getting in trouble for it because the principal liked her. Literally head her bounce a girls head off a desk from the hall one day. She came up behind her, grabbed her hair, and just started slamming her face into the desk. The girl attacked got expelled but she didn't and so I got stuck dealing with it daily 🤦🏼‍♀️

I just watched a video recently of a murder very similar to this in the Middle East. And as I watched, I once again was thankful that such atrocities don't happen in our country like they do elsewhere. The very next day I saw the video footage of Jonathan and these KIDS carrying out the same heinous crime and am so impacted by this. These were KIDS vs the ADULTS I watched in the Middle East video!! And over headphones and a vape pen! This kid came to his friend's aid and it brutally and barbarically cost him his life by a group of 13-17 year olds. American kids don't value human life. It takes some serious lack of empathy, humanity and a soul to be able to beat someone to death, and the bystanders laugh and record the video. Only 1 kid tried to help. No one joined him in helping Jonathan. Instead he too got attacked. These are KIDS behaving this way. I am so mortified and so sad for Jonathan and his family. To say I'm sorry for their loss and pray Jonathan is at peace is meaningless. That boy should still be alive. Those kids were barbaric in their attack like wild animals. It's hard to say "I hope they get the help they need" when I really just want to see them all on death row with a short stay. Their ages be damned. A vicious dog would be put down for attacking and killing right?? These kids were animals when they killed Jonathan and acted in a pack mentality. Shocking and disgusting and very disturbing.
