I want to say the Pirates had just lost 107 or 108 games the year before they somehow convinced Hurdle to manage the team. The turnaround when he took over was immediate. It must wear on him to have all his good players traded or allowed to leave as FA's every year. I was surprised he signed an extension with the Pirates last year honestly.
