I grew up with SC1 and SC2, my mate has all the playstations set up so we thought we'd hit SC2 up for a laugh. It is crazy how much better this game is than its modern counterparts, the music is better and the graphics while dated more than get the job done; the thing that matters is the control. No input lag and no artificial lag to simulate online, just pure analogue control, you vs someone else with no meters or crutches no worry about. This game did not age at all, a new coat of paint and it would sell like crazy.
Really wish SC6 went back to its roots. I can't even enjoy the game because I only play against 2 bar morons who spend more time in the character creation mode playing with the boob slider instead of actually practicing the game. It got very stale and annoying after a few months.

Xianghua is broken in SC2 due to her fast long range attacks. Talim is good if you can close the distance, but good luck doing that against a competent Xianghua player.
Basically in this game the shorter the sword the higher the tier. Nightmare is pretty good but you have to be really good with him and he's slow compared to Talim.
Well.... that Voldo play was littered with horrible blanks so... who knows. What I experienced back in the day is that while Xng, Taki, and Talim were board leaders, they usually loss when a skilled position player used Voldo, Nightmare, or Maxi. Yoshi and Mitsurugi were very powerful but the defense and counter game of the player mattered most.
My favorite fighting game of all time. I'm a loyal Tekken player, I love Mortal Kombat, but this game's console version, the content, the gameplay, ooooooh... One of my favorite fighting and just games of all time. 👌🔥

They're not able to import spawn's and heihachi's models yet (or any model at all really) so they just use voldo and mitsurugi's models for them. I'm kinda surprised that's all that has been accomplished, the game's old as hell now.
I thought Talim was one of the best characters tbh, I hardly lost whenever I used her. but I guess when you're doing competitive play, its a different story
Besides Link, I would always use Yunsung and Assassin. Yunsung is my main on the PS2 because I just can’t use Heihachi, one of his moves I just can’t do and it’s not the 10-hit combos.
I was definitely too young to fully appreciate this game when I was played it on GC. I just remember the crazy ass story mode and abusing Links’ tools lol
XianghauCalibur II is pretty good. Would be nice if there was some character diversity. Jokes aside, CB 2017 had quite a bit of character representation. Not sure why CB ran the arcade version, the one with less characters.
Probably because each of the console releases had a different guest character, and different controllers. On an arcade build, you can plug in an arcade stick or a controller just fine.

@@Pan_Z I don't really follow competitive scenes, but I would imagine that when setting something like this up, they either want all the guest characters, or none of them. I just find it unfortunate that Nintendo's ownership of Link prevented him from being in the remaster(?).

Surprised no one plays raphael in the tournament.. I always thought he had the most versatile kit in the game... For me it would ve been my first pick for every match!
Sad to say, but Raph is actually one of the weakers chars in this game, he has a lot of bad MUs and relies on a very straight gamestyle (Abusing down kick, 6B and the level 1 Guard Break)
I have no idea. Raphael is literally the scariest character in the game to fight. He’s got range, speed, and power to back it up. And some serious counter game too.
Hey. It's called a supergun, it's a bit of equipment that you essentially plug the arcade board into, you then connect the TV to the supergun and the controllers to the supergun. Think of a supergun like a modern games console, and the arcade board being the cartridge.
Word cause I've been planning on doing that im thinking about making a game channel for the fun of it. Soulcalibur arcade.versions I wanted to get mainly their way more balanced than the system version don't get me wrong I like sc2 hd but the arcade versions are very polished with the gameplay

@@davis1228 Sorry, Guard Impacts are what I meant! They are not difficult to pull off (you just need to recognize character movement) and they left the opponent pretty vulnerable. And yes, (I didn't know they were called this) the "whiffs" are very cool. I was always partial to Ivy's Summon Suffering and Kilik's Festival of the Damned.
@@jmbechtel high level sc2 play didn't have a lot of guard impacts because of a glitch in the game know as 2g. Basically if the player that is Guard impacted hits down and guard at the right frame, they play can block the attack. It just didn't work if the player would throw after guard impacting.
Unless there were some serious changes from arcade to console, these guys are wrong on a lot of things. And the matches would have been better if the players were more so focused on defeating their opponent instead of out cheating them.
A year late, but: you have no idea what you're talking about. These are some of the most knowledgeable players of Calibur there is/was. Not sure what you consider "cheating," but what ever the definition - no.
@@sukkafoo no, I know what I am talking about. Had two of the three versions and frequent the arcade before it came out. You know there are other players that are NOT on the coast. Most of the top players in the "FGC" are really not all good; just exploit a lot of the games' problems or logic. There are a lot of better players than what is commercially shown.

Get the HD texture pack for Dolphin, run at 4K and It's flawless, man. No other SC has as good of a sound design as this, too.
Soul calibur games I played religiously was SC2 and SC4(mostly because of online). Have barely touched SC6. Gotta get into it.

It was a matter of not having enough PS3s with the game. The previous time it was run on PS3 it was a nightmare.

The soul calibur 2 arcade system (Namco System 246) was basically a PlayStation 2 and it had ps2 controller ports and you can hook them up as well :)
