    The fact that Albion and Gasly got thrown out of Redbull for much less shows how much money Perez is bringing into the team

    • @Giorgal
      @Giorgal 2 месяца назад +184

      I think part of it had to do with the fact Perez was initially pulling better results than Gasly and Albon including multiple podiums in 2021 season (Albion only got 2 podiums after 1.5 seasons and Gasly none), an excellent team play in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that ultimately led to Max Verstappen winning his first Driver's Championship, a very good 2022 season where he had multiple podiums, victories and in several races he outright beat Max and the first races of 2023 where his performance was so good we all thought he could have been a serious championship contender to Max. It's only after his 2023 Azerbaijan GP victory that Perez started bringing underwhelming results but even then he had several podiums to pair with Verstappen's dominant performance.

      Because compared to Albon and Gasly he got race wins and some podiums while Gasly and Albon were the WHOLE season on P7 or less.

      Honestly, I think it has more to do with Redbull's internal power struggle and the fact that Perez is very loyal to Horner for swooping in and offering him a seat after Racing Point gave him the boot. Horner is really keen on loyalty at the moment, which is also why Daniel is still in consideration.

      @@udtojanpestillos2094 The 2019-2020 car was much less competitive than the 2021 car. 2019 Max was P3, Gasly/Alex P7/P8. 2020 Max P3, Alex P7. 2021 Max win, Perez P4.
      And while not a win, Albon had 2 podiums (P3) in 2020, Max 11 Podiums (2 P1, 6 P2, 3 P3). Comparison to Perez 2021, 5 Podiums (1 P1 and 4 P3s). Max 2021 18 Podiums (10 P1, 8 P2)

      Perez got far closer to Max than they ever did, it wasn’t close.
      The reality is the RB is struggling like the Aston now others have move forward.
      Aston copied the RB design but clearly the concept is limited.
      Max is just a freak who will utterly destroy anybody who goes up against him(that’s a reality others will never want to admit)

      As an Australian who remembers when Daniel was an excellent driver of a fast car, I've been wishing for one final stint to prove that he still has it. The one fatal flaw in his career has been that he jumped ship every time the team was about to recover from its slump in form. A one-race experiment might be an interesting teaser to see what happens next.

What's the worst that can happen?, The new guy comes in, is still miles off Max, can hardly get it out of Q3 and scores points at the same rate as a Haas?....as is now.
    The neatest solution is Ricciardo. (who has kinda lucked out into contention), Him stepping into RBR opens the door at RB for Lawson, and if DR shows no step beyond Perez for the rest of the season and Lawson goes into RB and shows up better than Yuki (or DR did), then they've got the next man up ready to go, and to also be brutally honest with Ricciardo, if he ended up in the RBR and it didn't work out, that would likely be him in F1 anyway, He has nothing left to lose, He either does a better job then Perez at what is now a low bar, or retires at the top seat having got the shot he came back into F1 for.

    The funniest thing about the entire Checo seat dilemma is that the solution is fairly obvious but Red Bull refuse to do it. It's Tsunoda.
    He's had Ricciardo's number for pretty much their tenure as teammates. Lawson came in and did well vs him, but Tsunoda had some appalling luck with red flags, a DNS and a Perez-enforced DNF. The only race Lawson finished ahead on track was at Suzuka, where AT ruined their chances of points by leaving Tsunoda out too long and in doing so Lawson jumped him but with no chance of points.
    It's win/win for them. Perez already stinks. If Tsunoda didn't do well, they'd have an actual justifiable reason to let him go AM-Honda in 2026 and an opening for Lawson or Ricciardo. However, it Tsunoda does well, they would then at least have an option to keep on a driver entering his prime and also hold a good driver away from AM-Honda in the process. So they'd either get a competent number 2 or they'd get an easier, more justifiable pathway to put Lawson or Ricciardo in a binned Tsunoda's seat.
    But they seem insistent on putting Ricciardo in despite the fact he's never going to get any better than he currently is, and he's far more likely to go backwards given his age, given he's not an Alonso or Hamilton level driver who can afford to go backwards a little as they're still miles clear of most of the grid. Ricciardo isn't.

    • @vinno97
      @vinno97 2 месяца назад +1

      I feel like Ricciardo is preferred because he's a stable and experienced driver and Lawson because he's got potential. Tbh honest anyone that has watched the 2023 season shouldn’t be surprised that Perez is performance have been absolute garbage this season. Last season when redbull had the quickest car by far; Perez on multiple occasions will fail to reach q3 in that rocket ship of a car (9 times to be exact). His average qualifying position last season was 9.09 and his average grid position was 9.27 in a car that was far superior than anyone else’s. His performances was so bad last season that Lewis in that shit box of car had a legit shot at taking 2nd place in the drivers championship standings WITHOUT WINNING A RACE! And now this season where the redbull is still relatively at the top he is still underperforming massively🤡. But somehow Redbull still gives him a contract extension 😂. What an absolute joke.

Tsunoda may face the same challenges many drivers (including Sainz) face with Red Bull's specific car dynamics-extremely pointy front end, unstable back end, and significant oversteer. It's often said only Verstappen and Ricciardo can handle it consistently. Ricciardo, aided by his good relationship with Max, might be the only one suited to be his teammate. Ricciardo's performances have also been hampered by being VCARB's guinea pig for new setups and upgrades (which benefit Tsunoda's performance), and by issues like Stroll running up the back of him.

    I'm 100% sure that Red Bull had signed a contract with Checo this early so they could update the performance clause in a way that allows them to frop Checo without having to break contract or wait until 2025. There's no way that they don't have a fun addition to the performance clause in place where they demote checo either to rb or as a reserve driver so they can retain his sponsorship money and cut his salary. Red Bull goes fucking crazy when it comes to their contracts and there's no way they didn't shove their lawyers in a pressure cooker on this one. If the performance clause kicks in and we fully see this unfold, we're about to witness a masterclass in contract writing and driver management.

    I believe the deal was a last ditch effort to bolster Perez’s confidence so that he could continue as the second driver, hence why they still left two very specific performance clauses in his contract. He’s already failing one, without any hope of recovery in that metric, if he falls past sixth in the drivers championship(which seems inevitable, with Mercedes and McLaren’s both showing rapid improvement), it’s safe to say that RB could void his contract entirely and drop him midseason, which would solve multiple problems for the team

    Riccardo and Perez need to be ejected from F1 as a whole. These aren't a couple of young drivers who haven't proven themselves yet. Redbull should toss out Sergio. Insert Ricciardo so if they do fire him they can say they have him every chance available. He gets along great with max and I think he will do better then Sergio. Put Lawson in the RB and let him learn slowly like Yuki did. Do not just throw him into the big seat like they did with Albon and Gasley.

      So Yuki isn't really someone like Stroll or Sargent who are definitely replaceable but couldn't be kicked out because of their cash or backers.

      This isn't true at all. Hence why bar this season Tsunoda has had extremely late contract confirmations despite Honda being locked in for several years.
      You'd know this if you listened to Helmut Marko, who oversees the young driver programme. Him being a Honda affiliate got him noticed, it probably put him in the pipeline to the seat in 2021. But it's 2024, let's not pretend he is finishing 18th every week and VCARB are just abiding Honda's wishes to keep him there.

See how Danny holds up to Max by the end of the season and if he shits the bed, replace him with Lawson in 2025. That way, you can asses whether Danny still has it and also not rush Lawson into the main team as he'll have a good 10 races at least to acclimatise and further prove himself.

    You can't understand why Tsunoda isn't being given a chance? It's simple: He likes to run his mouth. It's the same reason they punted Gasly so quickly. Immaturity isn't tolerated at Red Bull unless you are a superstar talent. Max gets to be as snarky and arrogant as he wants, because he's a top-tier talent. Tsunoda annoyed Marko with his attitude, and as such he will never see the inside of an RB cockpit.

  • @Frank_Torre

    Red Bull shouldn't have given Checo that deal. He clearly isn't up to continuously supporting Red Bull remain at the top leaving Max to carry the team himself. Hell Max won the constructor's last year on his own. The fact he couldn't deliver when the car was vastly better than the rest of the grid should've been a sign that he isn't the kinda 2nd driver they need.
