I'm happy to hear about you making it to shoot birds, that is going to be a treat to look at, as always thanks for your teaching.

Thanks for the information, I just found your channel after you were a guest on a podcast that I listen to and am loving it so far. Question, what metering mode were you using for these shots? Would using spot metering have helped the auto-ISO out when you were shooting with the tarp behind home plate?

It really doesn't matter @tgxwoodchuck9541. I have my cameras defaulted to Center Weighted averaging all the time - but keep in mind I am shooting mirrorless - so regardless of what the camera gives me for exposure I am always monitoring the image in the EVF and using exposure compensation to adjust on the fly. Check out this series of four articles about exposure with mirrorless cameras for more detail. www.joeedelman.com/what-the-exposure-triangle-and-brooklyn-bridge-have-in-common

Great tip on the labeling Joe. I ordered some tape and a Dymo.
The colored tape reminds me of my philosophy for travel. Some of my Pelican cases end up checked in and picked up in baggage claim. I use one of the odd colored cases like orange or yellow. If I see someone walking off with something of that color I watch them like a hawk. I guess you could also be like the Russians and paint a Z on the side of all cases & bags.
Feeling a little dumb about one suggestion - I have an extensive list of all my equipment but not including the serial numbers. A project for next week.
    Keep it up!

Rather than tape, I use a drop or two of teal nail polish - on my tripods, light stands, etc. Usually place it in a hidden area so it won't get chipped off.
