Thanks for the video. Coming from Freenom, i had to remove the homeassistant tunnel in the cloudflare Zero Trust section (Access/Tunnels). Before going into that section i had again add a payment method in Cloudflare( cost 0.00$). Everything works fine now with Namecheap. Thanks again.
I guess this is the problem I run into also, "Failed to add route: code: 10000, reason: Authentication error" or maybe easier to make new cloudfare account just in case as in my case the .tk account is still up and running
@@HawkanBruteForce I had a .ml Freenom account. I thought i remove the site in cloudflaire, but that was not enough. I must also remove the old homeassistant tunnel before i could do a new HA cloudflare installation. When installing cloudflare for the first time you don't have this issue.
@@ThePOWERjos Thanks. I'll have to keep this in mind. I created a new account for the .xys domain but still got an error, I guess it might be due to the new one still being active. I'll keep it as this as long as it works :)
Thank you. This guide really helped out a lot. Two small problems that I ran into. The Cloudflared add-on URL from the description did not work, however the one in the video did. I also needed to enable Advanced mode in my profile for it to show up in the add-on store.
Thank you for this. It worked perfectly, and effortlessly. After registering a domain on my usual registrar (for convenience), which costed me 1.16€ for a year, I waited a couple of hours for the NS to propagate. After that, it was a breeze.
Thanks for the video, it helped me set everything up. I had a bit of trouble with Cloudflare because it said I was banned from the system, but it turned out they were doing maintenance and that's why it said that. Everything was fine after about 10 minutes. This is a big help because I have a 4G router and due to double NAT issues, no other* remote access is possible. (*cheap, simple)
Been using cloudflare tunnels for years also. I don't use the cloudflare add-on in home assistant though as i have several self hosted apps (HA, password vault, audiobookshelf, and many more) that i need access to via the internet. I have a home lab that runs all my self hosted apps in docker containers (except HA which i run in a VM using proxmox). So i run the cloudflare tunnel connection in a linux container that runs my web server. This allows me to access all my apps.
yes, i keep the cloudflare tunnel outside HAOS either..and thanks cloudflare network / warpclient even the HA grafana embedded links are working by remote:)
Do you mind sharing how did you configure the cloudflare to do so? I recently moved from HASS on a RPI4 to a Optiplex pc with proxmox on it, now HASS is one virtual machine, and i would like to expose the other ones too. I'm currently using the cloudflared addon, but would like to move away from it if possible. thanks
how do you handle security, as in what precautions do you take? I'm currently using a vpn as I'm hesitant to expose anything on my server to the open internet but I am tempted because of the features I'm missing out on.
Great upload matey thank you for sharing your knowledge ..I have done everything but when I transfer my 2 ns to create new name server it looks like a different page to yours they must have updated site but it asks for me to add ip too ..I am a little lost here..
I cant help but feel like ive missed a step but i swear i followed this tutorial precisely. But i am not able to resolve my domain, i have received that email from cloudflare advising me of the dns change, do i not need to create a dns record in cloudflare for the damain?
I like that you show every step of the process, but I would still like to know how all the pieces work together. - Cloudflare (tunnel) - Domain DNS settings - Cloudflare integration in HA
Great video as always !!! But ... How do you handle logging in via your cloudflare/domain to HA when you have Trusted Computers and Trusted Users set up (for loging in automatically in wall tablet). I always get : Login to your Home Assistant instance Logging in with Trusted Networks. Login aborted: Your computer is not allowed. Because the IP address (incoming) is not in the list of Trusted networks.
I am honestly shocked that Rabbit with their R1 did not make it Home Assistant enabled from day one. Bad mistake along with so much of their other choices for that thing.
Hi Kirill, thank you for this awesome guide, i hv got my home assistant connected to cloudflare, but do i need to further configure the tunnel?. And also your video does not show zero trust setting in cloudflare website..it seems the tunnel need to be updated and i ignored it

Just renew it in time. They don't register new names but if you renew your freenom domain in time it keeps working. Freenom was taken to court by Meta, due to lack of administrative/accountability issues regarding their domains and it being used for phising sites
