This been established ever since Morlun’s first introduction in the early 2000s. Spider-Man and all other spider totems are avatars of the spider god, the spider sense connects them to the web of life and destiny and by extension the multiverse itself. Ezekiel told Peter it wasn’t the radiation that gave him his powers, but the spider was simply trying to pass something along before it died. This could also be the explanation for why Peter doesn’t have extra abilities like other spiders. From Spider-Man: The Other, Peter was reborn gaining new abilities from stingers, organic web and night vision. Though never stated it has been heavily implied that all spider totems have the same abilities, it just depends upon how much they explore their spider side.
