It definitely was a mess. The storyline should......flow! this felt like they had several different people writing the scenes and then just threw them together at the end! Without "fixing" them up to flow one into the next. Kelly deserved more....sigh🤷🏿♀️

That man said that with a straight face like HE wasn't the one being charged for MURDER! Sir! I'm going home, but you are about to go to P R I S O N! How you making demands???! You should be at the lawyer's office waiting outside for the doors to open every day before Mea even arrives to make sure she keeps you out of the pokey!
I think the reason these scripts are so disjointed and nonsensical is because they come from his fractured psyche and he decides to translate the visions from his mental illness into film. From his own mouth, he mentioned how his trauma coping mechanism since childhood has been disassociation. He describes in detail how his mind goes to an entirely different space with its own world and characters. These scripts should be in a journal for therapy sessions not the silver screen.

I realized this when I watched his documentary on prime and it FULLY clicked for me because of what I have learned of mental illness working in the medical field. I enjoy the plays but something about the serious films he writes make me uneasy. I don't want to see it but at the same time the production quality and caliber of actors is what pulls us all in!

I think Tyler always includes violence against black women in his movies because he grew up watching his mom being physically abused by his father. Tyler was also a victim of domestic violence at the hands of his father (per his documentary on Prime Video). If he would simply hire some talented writers and collaborate with them, his movies would be solid. TP refuses to collaborate with other creatives hence all the plot holes and “wtf how?” moments in Mea Culpa, A Fall From Grace, Acrimony, etc.
You are right on that and while I understand that his upbringing must have been very traumatic, now that you’re aware and have the resources, changing course would not hurt 🥹 and most importantly, hiring other creatives would be very helpful
When everyone said it was "nasty", I assumed it's because people didn't like the sex. If he would simply hire some talented writers and collaborate with them, his movies would be solid. TP refuses to collaborate with other creatives hence all the plot holes and “wtf how?” moments in Mea Culpa, A Fall From Grace, Acrimony, etc.
You are right on that and while I understand that his upbringing must have been very traumatic, now that you’re aware and have the resources, changing course would not hurt 🥹 and most importantly, hiring other creatives would be very helpful
When everyone said it was "nasty", I assumed it's because people didn't like the sex. That might be other people's reasons for not liking the movie, but for me it's about watching a beautiful & accomplished Black woman being abused, disrespected & humiliated for two hours. Madea's hilarious, but this mess?
