    I'm amazed I couldn't find any video-audio demo to hear what any of this boxes really do. Having checked all available video around I've learned all about their specs on the paper. Now … how about "at least" a comparison between ITB vs Vancouver?

      frustrating, right? find the "3 Cat Night Studio Rack Gear Demo" here on YT for someone who actually manages to do a comparison.

    GREAT! I just made a big upgrade to my home studio. 2 Shelford channels, Burl ADC, Chandler REDD mic, and a bunch of other cool stuff...all from Sweetwater. It's cool to know Mitch is using the Shelfords and Burl as well. I should be getting my stuff soon.
    QUESTION, So for the cleanest / uncolored sound the Burl can do I should use -6 out on the Shelford (so the signal input to the Burl is lower / softer) and the Burl input set as high as possible -12dB. Then the Shelford will be the one coloring more I believe.
    To drive the Burl harder then I should use the regular out on the Shelford pushing the Burl's input hard, so the Burl set at -22dB to compensate for the most colored tape sound?

    I am intrigued as to how you include this gear in a UAD Apollo ecosystem. I use a UA X8P and it sounds fabulous, but I am attracted to the rounder sound of the Burl, but I am baffled as to how this gear would be routed with an existing Apollo system.

    Are there any videos out there that can show me how to switch from Apollos whole system to something like this? I don’t know where to start but I heard the difference at a studio using Burl and same outboard and mics as me. I dont know what to start with if I want 8 to 16 channels of recording using MacBook Pros and pro M1

      a warm and coloured ADC/DAC is redundant and a complete waste of money. converters need to be transparent and clean and not colour the sound AT ALL!

      @@konival9753 You have an option to go "clean" ... I like it because it saves a lot of money if you want "color", but not only "sterile lifeless color" from the software.

    If you have the BAD4m then would you still need the B2 Bomber?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 года назад

      Hey there, Elon! No, you will not need the B2 Bomber if you have the BAD4m, since they’re both analog to digital converters. But you would need to purchase the B80 Mothership Chassis in order to run the BAD4m. It’s not a stand-alone unit. The chassis will provide power and a computer connection (via Digi-Link).
      I hope this helps!

    Yeah... everybody say the same shit, but at the end of the day tape is the real deal and all your fancy converters just trying to make digital crap sound little bit better. Lynx, Burl, Antelope, Prism - almost the same shit. Most of the money went to commercial part.
