- Get a better night of sleep!!! Keep your pillow in place... Don't buy a new pillow. Make your own camping pillow strap!
Have you ever slept on an air mattress and had the pillow slide off the pad in the middle of the night?

Sliding pillow is my number one complaint on the ground. Great tip!
A super easy item to build for you I'm sure.
Perfect solution to my very annoying problem! Thank you!
Dude you are so smart! I can't wait to try this out.
I hope it works great for you...
That is amazing!! That's going to help in having a better night sleep Thank you
You're so welcome! Enjoy!
Genius! I was just struggling w a homemade solution for this summer and you have brought me something much more streamlined than I was getting to. I have large straps of good elastic from a whole other project. So now I need to find a great “tube” and I’ll be golden. Thank you a million times!!!
I love to hear that! Happy hunting...
and a pillow case. such a great idea!!
Thanks!
THANKS Very creative fix using existing stuff I already own==pillow is so important for a comfortable nights rest
Sometimes it's nice to make what you got just work... without having to get something else... !
I was planning on buying the Trekology Aluft 2.0 with the strap pre-installed, but this video still enlightened me to the idea of using a buff to make a softer sleeping surface! That's a great idea!
It can definitely make a difference!
Genius! Will try next time I'm out. Best regs from the UK
awesome! thanks...
A strap is a must! We use the newer version on the trekology pillow and love the strap. Great way to do it homemade!
I agree that the st4rap is a must. The newer option to have it built in is nice! Unfortunately, you may already have a quality pillow... if so, then you can make your own! Thanks Taylor!
Great tip, thanks! I have the Trekology pillow, but the strap is too short for my 25" wide pad and snaps off. I took an old pillow case and added elastic to secure that to the pad, then put the pillow in it, but a Buff would be a lot lighter weight.
Thanks for sharing! I've also built a pillow case with some softer filling to make my inflatable more comfortable. It is definitely a luxury setup...
This is solving all my Issues: I didnt like the Surface of my Pillow, and i am so annoyed by the surfing of it XD Thank u so much, u really made me a more enjoyable hiker! :P
Sweet! And I like that you can customize it and select the material that is most comfortable for you!
Hey Andy! Great tip! I had been using one of my extra shirts over the end of my pad to keep the pillow in place but with my shirt size dropping and my new pad being wider that does work anymore. I did order the Velcro from sea to summit for my last pad but it just wasn’t strong enough. This however should work great! 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well.
-Grateful
The elastic has a lot of variants. Shock chord or pad straps or elastic bands with velcro... I'm sure there are other options beyond those. I left a few links in the description. I hope it works well for you.
@@AndyParrishOutdoors I ordered some shock cord to do some refinements in my pack so I’m going to try that first! Thanks my friend, you are the best 🙏
I was thinking of a tshirt on the end of the pad too
Great tip! Thanks
Awesome way to secure the pillow. I gotta get a buff. Yes I hate when I have to keep reaching for my pillow all night long 😂
Some places have very inexpensive variations (competitors) of the Buff too. The one from the video was one a got for free on vacation from an outfitter...
Great tip. I already use a buff as a pillow case on my pillow.
You are halfway there, my friend!
@@AndyParrishOutdoors :-) actually, I would also need to use my tent more than once or twice a year. I take my hammock whenever I can and I use a tether from the inflation valve to the ridgeline to keep the pillow where it should be.
Man this is thevideo I was looking for.
Awesome, thanks for checking it out.

That's better than my t+shirt technique.
Genius that’s gonna be way better than the ‘bug net’ method
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
@@AndyParrishOutdoors just ordered a buff!
Good idea
Thanks!
Very nice hack.
Thanks John.
Neat hack ... Thanks for sharing ...
Glad it helped... Thanks for watching! 👍
OUTSTANDING!
Thanks Bill. Sleep easy my friend. 😂
Very helpful! Thank you!
Glad it helps!
Genius!! Thank you!!
You're welcome! 😂
Good tip! The way I turn side to side all night, it'd probably pop off and I'd get whacked in the face with the strap. lol
🤣🤣🤣 I literally laughed out loud...
I dont use inflatable pillows I find them very uncomfortable I just use an old fashioned cloth throw pillow works great!
A lot of people detest the inflatable pillows...
Cool!
If by cool, you mean completely life changing... Then I agree! 🤣
Dope
👍
Oh man thanks for this I've been trying to figure it out where did you get the elastic strap from
Mine was from a previous backpacking quilt. I left a link in the description. You can also make your own at your local fabric shop with a clip ordered online...
Ok thanks
Genius
😵 THAAAAAANK YOUUUUUU!!!!! :::runs to find buff....::
🤣🤣🤣, I hope you have a nice soft buff!
Use a t shirt over end of sleeping pad……this is better cuz it always stretches my shirt out
As long as you don't mind it stretching your shirt out...😀
JOEY'S DAD MR PARRISH!!!!!
What's up Po!
You don't know my pillow. It has a life of its own. A few spots of thinned out silicone sealer will also provide more friction between the slippery surfaces. It can be removed and refreshed if it get a little funky. Very light, very effective....use it along with the strap. This also works on the bottom of the sleeping pad to reduce slipping on a non-level surface....up to a point.
