Is it possible that this was intentional in order for Israel to justify a war?
Horrific as this has been the Israel Palestine conflict has been a horrific one going on since WWII, somethign which the US is, in no small part, to blame for. and horrific as it has been for the Jewish community, Palestinians have been oppressed by Israel ever since, something which the international community has failed to hold Israel accountable for, and which has resulted in back-and-forth retaliation.
Could this attack have been something that was known by the Israel government, as a way to justify full military operation against Palestine in an attempt to eradicate Palestine?

      Let's be clear
      1. I don't support Hamas attacking innocent civilians to achieve its political goals.
      2. I don't support the colonizing of Palestine's territory through military conflict. With each military engagement Israel seizes more and more of Palestine's land. Look at the maps of 1917-2020. It's clear to me Israel is treating the Palestinians like America treated the native Americans. There's a reason why they don't have a two state solutions because Israel wants it all... Israel is trying to push the Palestinians into Jordan and Lebanon with every new conflict. The writing is on the wall. Israel's biggest mistake was letting Netanyahu come back to power

Ya, but unfortunately any discussion around the realities of Israel-Palestine means people trying to talk honestly about anything approaching an idea for a solution will be shouted down as the worst anti-semites/most anti-Palestinian/most anti-Muslim individuals in history. It's the most toxic possible foreign policy discussion, ever, at least in the West, because the ground-level blind rage and bloodlust of both sides has now seeped into so many people well beyond Israel's borders. IMO at this point the world has a fair enough idea what a solution for a potentially workable peace should look like; it's on the international community to fix it. No pundit here or anywhere will be able to stop the extreme violence nor extricate the religious beliefs that incessantly inflame this decades-long conflict every few years.

I worry about that too. I can't remember what year it was, but for some reason I vaguely remember Trump saying he was going to just give Israel the West Bank and be done with it but people were like "ARE YOU *** CRAZY?" and reminded him he doesn't have the authority for that anyway since it's not our territory. But given all of his and his family's other activity in the region (some we don't even know about yet) I can't help but wonder what kind of behind the scenes negotiating happened. And after the first impeachment where it was shown he had no problem going around proper channels and sending unauthorized people to negotiate without ambassadors knowing (not that we've had an ambassador in this situation for some time) who knows what all has happened behind the scenes 😰

While it gave the sitting president the ability to postpone implementation, effectively the US recognized that Jerusalem is the capital. Who destroyed Lebanon and has been under jihad siege since.
Seems they'd preffer to fight it out. The non religious world is tired of dealing with this.
      Very sad for both sides.
IUkraine may at least have chance of peace.

@@brianmacadam4793 Yeah, the reports of toddlers being decapitated has already been debunked, including by the Israeli soldier who initially made the claim. How many Israelis have died though? Let's go with a high estimate of 2,000. Does that mean Israel gets to kill 2 MILLION innocent trapped Palestinians on the Gaza strip in retaliation? Come on man, this is a false equivalency and you know it. Israel is about to take the Holocaust trauma out on a ton of innocent people who literally have nowhere to go.

Nothing stupider than taking support away from one active area to send all to one place, just leave Ukraine wide open... way too convenient for Russia.

I have been hearing about conflict in Israel and the Gaza strip as long as I can remember. At least back to the 70s, possibly the 60's. This is a conflict that has gone on forever. I don't think it will ever be solved.

Regardless of what you think of the tragic events, the obvious fact is that --- Netanyahu is standing there and watching his butlers (U.S. Officials) express gratitude for being his servant..!!!..Before this event, Netanyahu was using bulldozers to destroy Palestinian homes one at a time. But now, he can destroy the entire Palestinian territory, and annex the entire area.

A great program, we must continue to push for 2 state solution. We can support Israel and everyday Palestinian, that just want to raise their families and both sides want peace. We must continue to support Ukraine, they are an independent country acted . Without NATO Russia will overrun a democracy.

Must admit that was very well balanced. Supporting Israel rights to fight back and call them out not to commit war crimes. Gave a good context of the troubles and not black and white, but grey as well. Biden should be calling for restraint on cutting of essential services to Gaza. Only last week, we condemned Russia for hitting Ukrainian infrastructure. We should also call out Israel if they doing this or planning to do this.
