I'm sorry but even with Banu's moodiness I think that just made her 10x more adorable (the knit jumper absolutely KILLED me lol)
She looked really cute, but they do serve a proper purpose for sphynx as they get cold easily due to the lack of fur.
I used to raise Sphynx, and had lots of little specially made onesies for them when it got cold. None of mine had Banu's temperament, even in season. Mine were so laid back. I still have 4 of them, all elderly now. They and Siamese are the best breeds. (Jan Griffiths).
She was actually purring near the end of the clip…unless they dubbed !
Same I think she is adorable
I know it sounds really dumb but I didnt realise they didn't have whiskers as well as fur. I have stroked a Sphynx they feel like a shammy leather. Lovely unusual cats.
I love how Banu complains, growls and hisses but doesn’t actually lash out as much as you’d expect from a cat making so much noise.
Yep, Sphynx cats are incredibly vocal. Banu happens to be suffering and the hissing is not a happy noise, but yowling and complaining actually isn't that unusual for the breed! I've seen one being bathed by their guardian and even though he wasn't trying to bite or scratch, he was clearly not amused by the process and was SCREAMING at the top of his little lungs, far louder than Banu! He also tended to yell at his humans for attention - sounded like a human baby at times.
Oooh, and I just thought of something else - I once rented a room in a woman's house for a year and she had three cats. One of them only passed a few years ago, so she must have been pretty young when I knew her and an elderly lady when she died. No specific breed.
She was incredibly affectionate and slept on my bed most of the time I lived there, but she HATED being picked up. She never ever tried to scratch that I saw, but whenever we had to pick her up to move her, she'd wail, "Mmmrowwwwwrrrrooow!" really loudly until we put her down again. Like she just really wanted to register her *extreme* displeasure, but was too much of a sweetheart to actually attack. It certainly worked - we made sure to pick her up as little as possible so we didn't stress her too much.
I love how quirky cats can be! One of the others was a playful nose-biter. If my landlady was feeling mischievous, sometimes she'd wake me up in the morning by dropping him on my bed to wake me up with a nose nip. XD
@@hazelangus That’s an incredible way to wake up!! Thank you for sharing all of this, really cheers me up! 😆
@@hazelangus LOOOOOL, sounds like you had a funny landlady!
@@YuBeace I have to get up at 2 am for work. One of my cats (elderly Sphynx) wakes me up without fail every morning between 1:30 and 1:45 am. It's not that he dosen't want me to be late for work---he wants his Temptations cat treats. He nips me on the chin. He does it on the weekends too, when I'm off. (Jan Griffiths).
I've seen the clip of the cat that was thrown in the ocean multiple times but I still cannot understand how someone could do that to a poor defenceless baby.. absolutely heartbreaking
I don't understand it either. No matter how sick or annoying the cat is, you don't throw your damn cat into the ocean.
@@princess_thanos like if it's really that urgent to get rid of your cat if you cannot care for it any longer then idk at least find a shelter or a new good home...there is no option where you should just be throwing your cat in the ocean..the cat would have been so bloody scared..people who do that stuff are horrible..
Such vicious cruelty. That person should be in jail for a long time.
@@XXthelivingdead even dropping it off at a shelter or vet hospital like SASH in a box or crate is better than throwing a living breathing being who feels pain and emotion into a confined crate and tossed into the ocean. I hope they nearly drown.

Banu: 👿
I swear there is special place in hell for people that hurt animals intentionally!
Well if a giant grizzly bear was trying to kill and eat me, I mean I would have to defend myself.
@@brandongonzales4744 You know what they mean.
Amen
Not a fan of sphinx cats but can definitely tell that she's loved. It great to see that Banu is considered another child in her family, and not just considered a pet.
Can I ask why you are not a fan of them? I know how cats with folded ears are misformed so we shouldn’t promote the birth of new folded ears cats but is there something similar with sphinx cats?
@@613Pamuk a lot of people just aren't fans of them bc they're hairless and look a bit weird/silly/what have you. that being said, in relation to potential breed issues, they don't really have any genetic issues but they DO require a ton of extra care that people don't expect. Because of the fact that they don't have any fur, they need daily moisturizing, ear cleaning, de-greasing, and exfoliating. they're huge amounts of work and some people say that because of the lack of natural protection to their skin via fur, that they're more prone to some issues. so basically it's not because of any reasons to do with their genetics. It's mostly that sphinx cats are an acquired taste due to their 'goblin' appearance and some people just don't like them that much bc they're hairless.
@@Nathan-sh1zg oh, yeah i totally agree! I was wondering whether there was a genetic issue going on but yes they do require almost weekly baths and frequent nail-gunk cleaning. The way the owner’s have to pull that gunk out makes me so uncomfortable😭 i personally do enjoy seeing them, especially when they’re freshly oiled up!!!! but i wouldn’t be able to put so much effort in these breeds especially because they don’t just come stepping on your front door, you have to actively seek them out.
My mom would always refer to the cats as family, like "I'm taking care of 6 people here!" (We have 2 cats)
Ours were just plain old domestic shorthairs but they were family members. 2 cats, 2 humans happily cohabiting. So entertaining! The sleeping platform on their tree was hip high and beside the main traffic path in the house so they were always right in the middle of everything. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Banu sounds like a entity from a horror movie. Spaying and neutering makes a great difference in the quality of life for your furry family member and everyone else around them.
She sounds like my extremely neurotic white cat they are very similar
Talk to my sassy feral tux cat, even after being spayed she is such a nut case that is a part of her personality but she can be sweet at times with a cute squeaky mew and a loud purr and pure boldness
I'm so glad that in Australia they understand declawing is inhumane and it's illegal. So far 49 of 50 US states still allow it and a few provinces in Canada. Please support the Paw Project to help get this disgusting practice stamped out for good!!
Our, now 14+-year-old cat had also been declawed, spayed and either set loose or she escaped. She arrived on our farm one fall, feral, malnourished, and in poor condition.
From the moment I first picked her up, she melted into my body and we've been inseparable ever since. I assumed she was a lost or runaway cat as she had obviously belonged to someone at some point. Someone paid money to have her spayed and de-clawed. We flooded the area with notices but no one ever claimed her.
I have had a lot of cats in my lifetime, but Nyx is by far the cuddliest cat I've ever met. Nightly she drapes over my shoulder and does her best impression of melting into my neck.
She's been with us for over 14 years now, though I have no idea how old she is. I don't know if the time on her own changed her from being a door-dasher or if she was set out against her will, but she has never tried to leave the house.
I didn’t even know declawing was a thing-
Poor kitties :(

That's some great trust and love in there
I am so glad Chris has adopted George. It isn't that hard to do the right thing by surrendering the cat to the shelter.
unfortunately since then george has passed away. the show is generally extremely behind on youtube. so its been a few years since he passed but he lived a great life with chris.

Banu's face covered every emotion my 13 yo granddaughter swings through on any given day.
I can’t believe someone would throw their cat into the ocean, that’s such a cruel thing to do. I feel so bad for the poor kitty. Even when my cat acts up and is moody I still love her regardless and would never hurt her.
foster mom: "you gonna be a good girl?"
Marilyn: "No"
🤣
As someone who lost a 3 year young, lovely cat to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy I held my breath when he said there was a heart murmur. I wish someone would've caught any sign that our cat wasn't okay before it was too late. What he said is accurate, one day they're fine, the next they're having a heart attack and there's nothing left to be done.. He came from a shelter and we only had him for some 18 months but he was the sweetest cat we ever had. It's been 3 years and I still can't stop blaming myself for not noticing he wasn't well while we could maybe have still saved him.
I'm sorry for your loss. :(
I'm crying over the cat that got thrown into the ocean. How can someone be so cruel to an innocent animal? One that was their pet, no less? The kitty looks like such a sweetheart 🥺❤ Anyone who harms an animal intentionally, and in such a cruel way no less, doesn't deserve to be part of our society.
Edit: the poor bean is traumatized. I hope that owner gets everything coming to them. Who thinks drowning their cat is "putting him out of his misery"?! Go to a vet and euthanize him if he's in tremendous pain and needs to be at peace! Why was DROWING the first thought? One of the most painful and terrifying ways to die?! There were so many options. The owner is making excuses for their cruelty. I hope the law comes down HARD on them.
Drowning is not described as painful, it happens fairly quickly too. I don’t condone it I was just correcting that it isn’t said to be painful but definitely had to be a terrifying experience for the poor animal.
Hormones change little when Banu just decides she hates you. 😂
Banu is a savage diva 😂 just love her attitude 🧡
Love how vocal Banu was, she goes from yelling to calm so fast XD
I love how Lisa just tells Banu 'please don't come back', because its such a mood
that was doogle
I will never understand why people buy a cat from a breeder when there’s so many beautiful kitties that need a home in the shelters.
I volunteer at an animal shelter and sometimes breeds of kittens will come in! A couple times we had a litter of Ragdoll siamese mix come in. For there own protection cause they were so beautiful, we had to lock the cage doors so nobody would just take them and run. They were adopted in a heartbeat!
As Annie noted, once in a while a purebred comes into the shelter. One of the animal rescue accounts I follow actually has a rescue Sphynx that was surrendered to the shelter. That said, there is one breeder I follow here on RUclips, @Kaja Cattery, because of the obviously loving, high-quality care given to the cats and the care to see that the queens are not bred too frequently.
I agree. My boy is a rescue baby. My sister has a rescue baby, whose actual babies my mom adopted!! We’ve always rescued, we even fostered dogs for a while when I was in high school. They’ve always been the best babies. There are rarely any medical issues, and their personalities are the best!!
If more people bought cats from responsible breeders there would be less cats in shelters. :)
@@BringDeathByPickles Exactly this! Along with the fact people buy from breeders to get an idea on their temperament and health/genetics, it's less risky and if no one bought from breeders they wouldn't breed and thus pets would extinct along with the liters going unsold would go into shelters anyways or abandoned..
Some animals are just weird. I owned 15 rabbits and only ONE was super hormonal and tried to hump anything that moved. I hated the idea of getting him fixed because rabbits are delicate, but to relieve his blue balls I did it. He was definitely a much happier rabbit afterwards.
I'm really glad the artificial claws don't cause Jimmy any pain! They look gorgeous on him, too! That's definitely a lot better than declawing a cat!
The nurse who got bitten on the nose reminded me of when I got my cat's claw stuck up my nose when I was little.

I had a cat that was an absolute sweetheart to everyone but an absolute torment to vets. Best stories were when she had to be sedated TWICE to be groomed and when it took me, the vet and a tech to hold her down to shave her leg to look at a bite. She was spitting venom the whole time and I know that if any of us had let up for a second, she would've clawed our arms off. Even in her final days, I'm both proud and sorry to say that she still gave the vets hell.
Not something to be proud of.
I'm so glad that grey cutie found a home with Dr Chris and had love and the best of care from him for the rest of his life.
Wow, Banu was so loud but never lashed out with claws or biting! Cute, sweet girl!
When she told Dougal "Please don't come back!" 🤣
The speed Scott put that mask on Banu's face just cracked me up 😂😂
How can people be so cruel, makes me so mad ,Chris is an angel in disguise
I had two sister kittens, and from the day we brought them home they hissed at strangers. The rest of their lives as teens and adults they terrorized guests, no one could get friendly with them, except us. They were registered as “guard cats” with a utility company because they challenged anyone that got close to the window to read the meter. Oh yah….they despised each other as well 😂😂! Made for interesting household relations.
Wow gard cats
My parents used to have a Burmese cat that stood up on her back feet to chase my sister out of the room; guess she smelled her dogs and didn't want anything to do with her. She was the only person that the cat never liked. 😂
Also called bad parenting.

Dr. Kate is so beautiful...and she has some GORGEOUS hair!!!
Banu is a lovely Sphynx, and I would have given anything to have one with blue eyes. I used to raise them, and all of mine had either gold, green, or hazel eyes. Of the 4 I have left (all elderly cats), 3 of them have hazel eyes, and one has gold. None of my females ever acted like Banu when they were in season. Mine were so laid back, and accepting of anything that came their way. They are also prone to a heart condition called HCM, and should be tested for it. None of mine had it, and were tested for it yearly. My old ones go to the vet every 6 months for checkups, and the test is given to them. Still so far so good. (Jan Griffiths).
If the Sphynx (or any other cat) has "meezer" markings (Siamese), they'll have blue eyes for life.
@@nerysghemor5781 Yep, but also white Sphynx can have blue eyes. Just as any other blue eyed white cats, most are deaf. (Jan Griffiths).

What a miserable cutie Banu is 😂
My parakeets peck at each other and make angry noises but the second I come into the equation they hug and get away from me....guess they hate me more than each other
I remember when my mom was considering declawing one of her cats because she kept getting her claws stuck on everything. When I told my mom what they actually do to the cat and how bad it is, my mom immediately searched for different options. She got the claw caps and hasn’t had issues since. I’m glad she didn’t get her cat declawed. It really is a form of torture for a cat.
I loved how the grumpy cat exited her travel box. She looked like an animated walking traveler that was kind of square.
When Banu jumped on your lap at the end and purred into the camera, that was a big change.
Banu’s mom is a literal angel
Dr. Kate, it's so lovely the way you understand and unconditionally love your pets, especially Jimmy. "Carrying on like a porkchop," really cracked me up! 😂
I can’t tell you how many times I replayed that “ MEH “ with Dr. Chris. Man, that cat is hilarious. Actually, they all are.
Never wait for the cat to go in heat to spay it. Spaying a cat in heat is more risky and causes more bleeding because uterus ha increased blood supply and size at that time. Due to that recovery is also more painful. So better to spay females before they go in to their first heat.
Yep. I always spay around the age of 4 months. In the US, kittens have to weigh at least 2 pounds before spaying/neutering. At 4 months, most weigh at least 6 pounds, so they have a bit more of a reserve to fall back on if needed, but still too young to go into season. (Jan Griffiths).
I didn’t know that. Had mine spayed at 6 because we were visiting another country and were leaving her with others
Well, it's best to spay them before they ever go in heat. The really important part is not to spay them *while* they are in heat because they've got much more blood in those parts as the poster said...
are you deadass telling a vet how to do their job? and she wasn’t in heat when she got spayed.
Yeah mine got in heat pretty late, so we waited before her first heat, when it was over she was oparated.

Watching the foster lady rub Huey the wrong way, also rubs me the wrong way.
I really don’t like cats but I love sphinx cats. They look like tiny adorable demons in the best way. Banu is the spiciest one I have seen. Usually they’re really laid back.
I dearly enjoy listening to northern English accents, and hearing Banu’s mum’s voice in despair at the news of the murmur was heartbreaking. Hearing joy come back was absolutely wonderful.
I have a rescue that was declawed. If you piss him off he will swat and cut you with the nubs. Don't underestimate those plastic claws.
Declawing is so horrible...
@@phoenixflamegames1 He's an absolute PTSD mess because of it. Poor guy licked almost all his fur off when we moved this summer. The vet won't even let us bring him in if he isn't sedated. I had the displeasure of meeting the turd who had him for the first 6 years. The guy almost broke his legs trying to get him in my cage yelling "this guy is going no matter what" I choked back tears and just carried him. He had no issues getting the hell outta there. Unfortunately whatever happened there, has never left him. It's been 7 years now. He's a ball of nerves, but MY ball of nerves. Forever.
@@jeannetterw oh no.. poor baby.. I've read that declawed cats eventually stop using the litter box because of how sensitive their paws get. I hope your cats nubbins will be alright!
@@herzen9857 And declawed cats don't walk properly, can't exercise their shoulder, back, and forearm muscles properly because they no longer can dig in with their claws and pull back. We have my mother in law's cat who is declawed. Our other cats are not. The reason we have him is because she passed away, and there was nowhere else for the cat to go. His muscles are atrophied and a lot weaker than our cats. I feel bad for him. He does not run or jump as our cats do, and our cats are all older than he is. I will be so happy when all states in the US ban this barbaric procedure. My state, Arizona, banned declawing in 2018. (Jan Griffiths).
They shouldn't have "nubs" if they've been declawed. Were the claws actually gone, or are the bones exposed? I hear that sometimes happens if they get infected. That sounds horrible. Declawimg should be illegal.

i really felt for him when Banuh stopped breathing, cause they assured her owner that her heart is fine and she would most probably be okay, and suddenly she stops breathing.. Just imagine, what would you say to her owner if she actually didnt start breathing again, when you said earlier shes gonna be fine? its just so sudden
Well, its still a TV show... Its actually quite common for pets to stop breathing briefly at the start of sedation. Its like their body needs a bit to adjust. Of course you need to monitor them very closely and you try to stimulate breathing again but it is not qn immediate emergency. As long as the gums and tongue look nice and pink and don't start going blue you're good. It also happens especially with brachycephalic breeds (cats as well as dogs). To me it feels like they are overwhelmed with the amount of oxygen they suddenly get once you intubate them, so their body doesn't get the signal to breathe. Never had an animal actually completely stoo breathing though. They always come back around
Not a fan of sphinx cats but was worried when banu stopped breathing. It was hilarious though in the beginning everytime the doctor asked her a question she answered with a hiss. Whew what a handful.
I found it interesting that Scott said heart murmurs are uncommon in cats. I've had two cats with that condition and didn't think it was all that unusual.
My guess is that it seems uncommon to him in comparison to dogs. So while it’s not super rare, dogs tend to have it a little more frequently than cats. It’s a matter of perspective I suppose!
Maybe we're just unlucky? My cat also has one
Omg I love her grumpy face she so adorable 🥰 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

And just like that he adopts a less cranky mini George with exactly the same personality as him. Cricket is the perfect cat for Chris just like George was
I had a pretty tuxedo that I named Grace because it took a lot of grace to live with my cranky kitty.
I learned my lesson by not getting my kitten spayed in time, before she escaped to find a mate, never to be seen again, she howled day and night, spotting red on our beige carpet… I’ll never wait again.
Banu is so stinking cute in that little sweater and in a purrito!

it's good to know that vets have problems with their pets too 🤣I feel so bad for my cat's vet she's one of those patients that they dread seeing on the schedule they come out with the eagle gloves right away 🤣
Don't feel bad. I've had 3 cats by now. Two are the devil incarnate at the vet and one is a pure angel who lets them do *everything* to her. And that one is ironically the one with permanent diseases who has to be brought to the vet much more often. 😅 Their behaviour there really doesn't reflect how the owner treats/has trained them.^^
My vet hates one of my cats. She is a handful, but I don't love the way they handle her. I need to find a vet who's better with cats. :/
Banu: THE BLOOD OF LIONS RUNS THROUGH MY VIENS, YOU WILL FEAR ME HUMAN!

giving the cat a "good death" by drowning it? that's so much bs.
How can someone be so cruel that they throw a cat in the ocean like that.. Love that Chris adopted him tho, he got a much better life ❤️ Sweet dreams George 🕊️
Oh no, Banu’s yelling is making my kitten worried 😭
My cat had a fist size umbilical hernia also has a loud heart murmur. She is doing well right now but constantly worried for her. When she got spayed and fixed the murmur they said they couldn't give her anesthesia. She had to atay the night, then gave her fentanyl for the pain and pain meds for a week after. Definitely was stressed. She is healed now, the best part is how she now can play with her sister and can out compete her.
I love banu little miss sassy pants 🥰💗
Dang! I cant relate at all. All of the cats I've shared my home with over the years were awesome at the vet. At home was a different story! 23lbs male Maine Coon vs 7-8lbs DMH female was hilarious at times. He would just wait for her to come around a corner or get comfortable somewhere...then Whammo!
How loving ladies with these creatures
Poor Huey. I fully believe that cat was mistreated before he was thrown in the water. I'm so happy Dr Chris adopted him.
So glad that Dr Kate had the patience to deal with Jimmy's issues. Everyone needs to be aware that their temper tantrums are caused by stress. A cat that hisses when being petted, very likely had owners before that would be petting him, then swatted him for reasons he couldn't understand. So now he's stressed when someone being nice to him brings back the memories of being swatted. So many people don't realize that and they return great animals to the shelter when really they just need to create new memories for the animal to retrain it's way of thinking.
"I feel honored" 🤣😂
Banu is EXATLY like my mothers cat Lula. LOVES to sit in mine and my moms lap...but...DONT U DARE TOUCH! LMAO 🤣

An indoor cat in heat is an experience. Nephew called--his cranky cat had turned into a caged force of nature. She was in heat. I always spay or neuter pretty early so I don't go through that.. Solves a number of problems. I also start clipping the tips of their claws every two weeks. Start when they're young--before they're big enough to hurt you too badly. Saves your clothes, flesh and furniture.
My Spooky was the first cat I had to use Soft Paws on until she finally outgrew her need to scratch me anytime I picked her up. She HATED them and would try to pull them off as soon as we got home. And this had to be repeated every six weeks at $40 a pop. She got pink on one set of paws, and black on the other set. The pink looked super cute on her.
What are those? They seem like a thing my cat would need.
@@omegadragons321 Just Google soft paws. They are claw caps. They do have to be replaced as the cat sheds the sheath of its claws. I had my vets groomer do it until she outgrew her “claw all humans” phase.

Had a cat that got spayed. Oh man! The vets had to trag her through the cage which only used as a last resort at the vet i went to. We went to pick her up after she was fixed. The vet and the 2 techs had band-aids and some bandages on their arms. Nothing to bad but we had told them before hand that this cat did tend to go wild with strangers. From what they told us the battle wounds came from both before and after the surgery and the worst did require a stitch just because of where the opening was at for safety reasons. My mom and i apologized but the vet and techs told up don't worry about it as it was used as a learning experience as well for one of the new techs on how some pets are just not the little angels with strangers.
When Jimmy is scratching and playing with things he shouldn't, you distract him with toys or putting him on the scratching post/pad. When your cat gives you the body language of "f off" with big eyes and ears slightly back, you respect that and back off from your pet.. You were getting up in his space and didn't read his body language or you'd never have been bopped like that.
so glad Chris ended up adopting george, he couldnt have a better human
Thank god for the beautiful people who take care of these precious cats and make them well .
