Kashmiri Saffron contains Croccus compound (i.e. Crocin) which make its taste bitter. You can take 1 or 2 strand in between your teeth and taste for bitterness and hence serves a active agent to maintain body temperature. Adulterated saffron may be sweet in taste.
2. Kashmiri Saffron once mixed with hot milk or water shall not leave its original (reddish color) color but should give golden color. Adulterated saffron threads will turn white and give more colour.
3. Kashmiri Saffron should have low moisture and should not be dried and crisp.

There is no procedure to know it's purity
Production of saffron in kashmir is very low but demand is high.
So saffron traders import from outside countries to mitigate demand
Buy it from genuine person. Only that way you can get original saffron.
