    Thank you guys for this excellent video, and for sharing all the planning info and tips. I completely agree, research, planning and training are key to a great experience. Research can a challenge, especially when you're in a different country and unfamiliar with tramping and mountaineering in NZ, which makes videos like these all the more valuable. I've also found that the folks in the various NZ mountaineering and tramping clubs are really friendly and knowledgeable.

      Hey, thank you so much for your kind words-we really appreciate it. Our main goal is to inspire others to get out there and experience the beauty of New Zealand’s mountains. Yes, logistics are key, totally agree. And it never hurts to ask for advice; that's what we always do, as there are many experienced people willing to share their knowledge. Where are you based - Australia?

    I want to say thank you for this video, after a few years of diving into outdoor sports like rock climbing, I want to start making the push for mountaineering. I think this video is all the evidence I needed to make the first steps towards it! thanks heaps guys!

      Thank you so much, our friend! As we’ve grown our mountaineering skills in New Zealand, we’ve realised that there isn’t much information out there, and not many people are willing to share their experiences with those who want to learn and grow. The general attitude seems to be: "Oh no, you can’t give advice unless you’re a guide." But the truth is, nowadays, all you really need is consistency and the willingness to learn step by step, using RUclips, articles, and others' experiences. We’re happy to hear you’re inspired to dive deeper into mountaineering-that’s exactly what we aim for. Best of luck on your adventures!

      @@alpine_squad thanks guys! Would you guys have any advice or knowledge around the weather in November vs December? I am very much booking my mountaineering course now for it!

    • @alpine_squad

      Which area are you going to have your course at? If you’re planning on trying lower peaks like around the Arthur’s pass region then November is likely to be better by offering you more snow ie easier access. If the course is based in the Mt Cook village area then Dec generally should still be fine. From our experience, last few years from mid December it starts getting really hot leading to snow bridges melting, making glacier travel more difficult etc.

      @@alpine_squad Im booked in for middle Nov this year!! likely at the Tasman Saddle Hut. now I am looking at all my personal Alpine clothing! Sadly over here in Australia we don't get the cold often enough to have some on standby haha. What shell are you wearing at the 6:13 mark?

    I've never been a mountaineer and have never had any desire to climb high peaks. Great video, guys - detailed enough to show the challenge but not borring at all!

      Thank you! That’s so interesting for us to learn that our alpine journey can be of interest to a non-climber too… Though we believe, immersing into wild nature is a universal language of peace and love, so we all speak it!😇

    Appreciate the detailed video and the great footage. What an amazing journey! I'm planning to climb it later this year and can't wait. All the best for future climbs! 🤘

      Thank you, Terence! Over the time we realised that there’s limited info for ordinary folks that’d like to grow and learn how to progress and tackle some of the beautiful summits around. We wish there are more outdoor enthusiasts around that are keen to share their experience and also learn from each other! All the best with your plans tackling Aspiring! 💪🏔️

    hey what ice axes are you using?

    • @alpine_squad
      @alpine_squad  Месяц назад

      Hey, good question! We use Petzl SUM’TEC ice axes. They're extremely versatile and adapt easily to different mountaineering terrain, from classic to technical. Occasionally, Angelica adds MASSELOTTES for extra stability when things get too technical and during ice climbing.
