That’s not how it works. 2) she never stole ANYTHING. the accusations of stolen vocals refer to how she had songwriters’s vocals and background vocals on the choruses of her songs. Even Whitney Houston had background singers. 3) the songs she “stole” were scrapped songs never intended to be released. Usher’s “Ride” ended up on Jennifer Lopez’s album because Usher hated it and didn’t want it released. Again, she didn’t really choose the songs.

She did not. Stop the bullshit. This is one of the few things you can’t accuse her of, and I have reasons:
1) she didn’t have almost any control over the music she made. She was handed instrumentals and songs written to record and never went “oh let me add ’s vocals on top. That’s not how it works.
2) she never stole ANYTHING. the accusations of stolen vocals refer to how she had songwriters’s vocals and background vocals on the choruses of her songs. Even Whitney Houston had background singers.
3) the songs she “stole” were scrapped songs never intended to be released. Usher’s “Ride” ended up on Jennifer Lopez’s album because Usher hated it and didn’t want it released. Again, she didn’t really choose the songs.

In the studio Mariah is very well respected as a songwriter, vocalist, and producer. Outside of the studio I don't know what people say about her, but every collaborator she has worked with in the studio speaks very highly of her.
When the feud started, Mariah had already left Sony for Virgin Records. However, when she switched record labels she was in the middle of working on Glitter. Therefore, the movie Glitter was a Sony production and the soundtrack was going to be a Virgin record. Meaning Tommy had access to all the music for the film. Tommy actually stole two concepts from the Glitter album. He first stole the idea of sampling Yellow Magic Orchestra's 'Firecracker to use on the original version of 'Im Real'. This song had never been sampled prior to Mariah asking permission to sample it. Tommy had JLO record and release the original version of 'Im Real' before Mariah released the original version of 'Loverboy'. Mariah had to rerecord 'Loveryboy' sampling 'Candy' by Cameo. The original version of 'Loverboy' is on her 'Rarities' album.
Tommy also lifted the concept of 'If We' from Glitter. Mariah recorded 'If We' with Ja Rule and Nate Dogg. When Tommy heard 'If We' prior to it's release, Tommy called Irv Gotti and asked him to make a duet with JLO and Ja Rule. 'If We' was recorded prior to "Always on Time' and 'Mesmerize', and it really was the formula for the rapper/RNB singer give and take songs. This was confirmed Irv Gotti who said, Tommy knows we just did this sh*t with Mariah and he's trying to f*ck with Mariah. Irv still went through with creating the record which turned out to be the 'I'm Real' remix, and that's why the 'I'm Real' remix is so different from the original version. The producer of 'If We', Damizza, also confirmed this. He said Irv called him and told him that Tommy Mottola paid him $250,000 to create the same record for JLO.
Mariah is known for creating her songs from the ground up, and all of this occurred when she was diagnosed with bipolar 2. Tommy was upset when Mariah divorced him, but he couldn't be as blatant as sabotaging her when she was signed to Sony. At the time, the suits referred to Mariah as the 'The Franchise'. When she switched labels, Tommy was openly out for blood.
Mariah even wrote 'Side Effects' and 'I Wish You Well' about Tommy after this whole situation happened on E=MC2.

When she didn’t get an Oscar nomination for Hustlers, I almost felt sorry for her because she was fantastic in that role, but then she proceeded to play the victim and say that she didn’t get it because she’s a Latina. But other Latinas have been nominated.
And it’s rich coming from her because she has benefited off the vocals of Latina and African-American singers. Ashanti and Christina Millian could have had bigger careers if they had kept the songs the record studios gave to JLo, but they came second to her and didn’t even get credited in a featuring role.
