@@imalpha4471 Because some players peak early. Steph had a slower start due to ankle injuries and a transitional management period with the warriors. Steph really hit his stride in 2013. @@westbronco9066 sorry pal, you gotta use context. Curry is given credit and gets praised on the level of Top10 all-time nba players. Curry does not perform anywhere near to a Top10 all-time nba player especially when the moments are the biggest. Curry is a rec-center highlight reel. That's why he's never won MVP in 5 trips to the NBA Finals. And he implodes in the biggest playoff games.
He can never claim to be data oriented because of that. He reduces the sample size down to just a few games and judges players' mental fortitude based on that. A game where maybe their knees or ankles were hurt, maybe they were getting bodied and refs weren't calling fouls. But no, they are mentally weak, they crumbled under the pressure. They "didn't want it enough."
Every Steph segment this season Max willfully ignores the way defenses send 3-4 guys to defend Steph every possession while Trae, who is clutch for sure, is getting guarded by mostly just one guy because his teammates are making shots.
Fr Max literally compares their stats without context. If Steph receives the same treatment as Trae Young receives, he's gonna be better. Steph literally won the scoring title this year with a team that barely has any spacing and help. He never will be. He's 3 inches shorter than Steph and not a great shooter, let alone the GOAT shooter. Steph's only weakness is a lack of size and he towers over Trae. The better Trae gets, the harder they will defend him. Right now they leave him open on the perimeter because he's not a big shooting threat. Let Trae reach his ceiling and we'll find out. Also, Steph's 2016 Finals performance, his partnership with KD, and his lack of a Finals MVP (which he should've won in 2015) are literally the ONLY arguments Max has about his playoff career.
He shouldn't have won that finals mvp, iguodola deserved it way more. He doesn't just talk about that one performance he speaks on his whole playoff performance against the best teams.
Curry got carried in 2015 and started choking, Iggy was guarding LeBron. And stopping him from getting 50 every night curry was putting 25 points per game while putting 31 in the regular season that's a whole 6 point drop off, he was choking
Max brings up the 2015 finals a lot. He has the same things to say every time. “Steph didn’t deserve that chip but won since Kyrie and Love were hurt.” Yet no one mentions the 2019 finals. Steph would have won with KD and Klay healthy, but Max Kellerman ain’t ready for that conversation.
