They turned out beautiful, thanks for sharing! I have been saving my tea bags, from all kinds of tea but mine don't have nice lines and patches on it, like yours! Must be a different type of tea!
Thank you so much Dianne, I really really love ❤️ these teabag art. And as far as I’m concerned I really really enjoyed watching you create these stunning and gorgeous things. I really really think 🤔 that they are too good for cards or bookmarks 🔖. They are works of art each and everyone. They are really really incredibly beautiful and really should be sold as pieces to put on the wall where they can be appreciated properly.... Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I have literally hundreds of used teabags waiting to be made into art. I love what you have done with yours, and I agree with you - the abstract ones are my favourite. Using the gold leaf to accentuate the holes is an inspiration - it reminds me of Japanese Kintsugi, repairing broken pottery with gold. Fabulous! Thanks for sharing.
Just happened upon your channel! Wow! I love to alter tea bags. So definitely going to watch what you have on your channel along with everything else. Nothing short of amazing! Tfs. New subbie here! I love to make junk journals and always looking for new things to add!
I love it! It's a great idea to use teabags for making art. I have more than 30 of them in order to reuse in someway and now I know what to do. Thanks so much for sharing. Greetings from Holland and sometimes from Mexico.
I have been saving my tea bags. A good many of them are from green tea to which I add Ginger, Tumeric, and honey. The turmeric gives them the most luscious color !!! This was a MOST interesting video. Thank you very much ! I am excited to try painting those tea bags.
Thank you so much that’s very very incredible and stunning and gorgeous. I really really love 💕 the abstract art the best, it looks really really organic and gorgeous, and with the colours and gold flakes it really is WOW 😮 WOW 😮 WOW 😮 Amazing. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Just adorable. Lovely, Lovely colors and whimsy lines. Thank You so much, was very relaxing for me. I've got to try this with winter coming, I'll have some good time.
Sylvia Hildman Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a lovely comment. These are great fun to play with and leave you so much room for creativity. Dxx
Absolutely lovely. I've had a challenge and I picked tea bag art so this was very helpful. Great tip about the adhesive. I wouldn't have known what to use. Thank you.
Thank you very much for making this video. It was fascinating to watch you. I really like the brush you used for spattering ink. I am thinking of asking friends to save me their tea bags.
Hello again, just saw your happy weekend wish (thank you), and I realised that is a very busy time for you in America, so a very happy thanksgiving to you and yours...(I had to look up Black Friday and Cyber Monday to see what they entailed...but as I am most definitely NOT a shopper, I can only hope you are safely protected from the worst of them both ;) Di xx
lol that whole shopping thing. I'm not a huge shopper I did hazard a trip to the art store & saved a little over half of what I purchased, then home again for me away from all that !crazy! xo
Thank you Dee! It seemed a strange little project when I started, but they are quickly becoming one of my favourite techniques...I think that may be because of it allow me more spontaneity to create something unusual...that might be complete bosh...it might just be because I like tea...now I have another reason to keep drinking it! Di xx
Hi Di, I have watch first your new disassemble the teabags clip and now your cards. The geometric patterns looks perfect but the flowery ones are also cute. Your way to coloring up is very well for my eyes. I like it a lot. xx Manuela
Thank you Manuela, they are strangely satisfying to work with...I think I like them because I cannot really control the outcome, most of the time. With these I have to just relax and go with the flow, something I often find hard to do ;)
What a great technique. I am wondering if you could actually stamp on the bags instead of drawing. I am a tea drinker so I can see myself doing this - well at least a few of them maybe - not dozens though. Thank you for explaining the in depth process on your blog - I found it to be most interesting.
Ruth Burr Hello Ruth, yes, stamping did work ok, depending on the ink and colour used...you would need to play and see. I tried a silhouette grass stamp but it was a bit "pale" even with Stazon and Archival...text stamps need to be a good font size to be clear...maybe some bags are different though and it depends on the look you want..thanks to your reminder I added some information to my blog post...Di xx
Hello Kory, thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment...the pens I have been using to best effect on my tea bag play sessions have been the fine tip ends of my very ancient Stamping Up set that I really don't use very much at all on anything else. They seem to work very well on the fine tea bag fabric. Dx
Thank you for your comment Gaila, it is a while ago now since I made these but I always use Gold Size adhesive for any metal leaf application. I have found in the past that "other" adhesives simply don't hold well enough...but if you don't have it on hand then perhaps the spray adhesive would be fine on such tiny areas...a card is generally not required to have great longevity, after all ;) Dx
I cannot tell from your link where you live, but most places that sell the metal leaf will sell the special adhesive, or should do...it is called "Size". The brand I use here in Australia is an X-PressIT product and comes in an 125 ml size container...I don't use much of it. Most art supply stores here sell something along these lines...it may be called gilding size or gilding adhesive...it comes in both oil or water based compositions, I think the oil based one is mainly for using on oil pastels, oil paints etc. (Mine is water based). But if you don't want to apply large areas of metallic leaf to a project and you are not selling the item, just try whatever nice sticky glue or even tiny pieces of double sided tape that you have to hand. I'm sure it will stay put long enough for the purpose...If you are selling the items than I would definitely go with the size...hope this helps, Dx PS I found this little YT video by the chap that invented gilding size, if you want to follow it up...ruclips.net/video/KqdmA_Zqeyw/видео.html Have fun! D
Di that’s absolutely fantastic and stunning and awesome. I really love 💖 all of these. You’re so talented and clever, and what type of tea bags are they because mine that I’ve dried aren’t as large as those ? I’m new to you’re work, but I’m signed up now.
Thank you so much Mags...I am not sure where you live, but the tea bags I use most frequently here in Tasmania are made by Twinings and Yorkshire teas. I have another small video @ ruclips.net/video/Quu09BNB_eI/видео.html ...about the type of bags I use and how I empty them, because others have since asked these questions. I also used some Rooibos bags in a project, because I liked the pinky colour and wanted the small square shape, but I had to trim the sides of those with scissors to separate the two layers. Don't forget to share your projects if you get some done, I'd love to see what you make...hope this helps, DX
Hi Di, many thanks for this! I can't wait to start doing some. Just one question: what kind of pencils (or colored markers) do you use to color the teabag material? Great work! xx Alexa
Hello Dolores, I used the one cup sized bags for these, but you can use any that you normally use...I did a more recent video on how I prep my bags, that might show you better, @ ruclips.net/video/Quu09BNB_eI/видео.html...Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! Dx
Hello Laurie, thanks for your lovely comment...I just saved my usual black tea bags, (most of the ones used in the video were Twinings brand), but also some herbal and green tea as well. I like the size and fragility of these bags...others I tried were smaller or harder to open out, but generally speaking I just use what I have available...I have just started using these recycled bags in collage projects too, for texture and colour...Dx
Thanks Dianne. Thats what I wanted to know, because your tea bags seemed larger than normal. And I love how the tea stained just in the middle of the bag and not all over. That makes for lovely edges. Is the tea bags more of a triangle shape than a flat square?
Hi Laurie, I just added a new video, detailing the type of tea bag I use and how I prepare them for use...I hope it explains the type of bag I use...I have also used the flat tea pot bags, The ones I have used were square and required me to use a pair of scissors to cut away the tiny edges on all four sides...they did not unwrap as the larger bags do...good luck, Dix
Our Wandering Footprints Thanks for both your subscription and your lovely comment. No...use any that are made from the standard tea bag fabric...I have never tried with the little silky ones, I don't think they would absorb as well.
I like your artistic style, Dianne! Your tea bag art is wonderful and unique! Your cards certainly look lovely!

Have fun...your combinations of spices sound delicious and would give your an additional colour pizzazz, especially with the turmeric...Dixx
So I was wondering. Do you brew your tea and then add powder turmeric to the water. Sounds really interesting.

I've watched lots of tea bag art tutorials since yesterday and I keep coming back to yours. I think that says it all. :) Love the abstracts.
These turned out quite lovely. Great process video.
Thank you, Dixx
Wow !!! Beautiful and very memorising watching you... Loved the daisy one but must admitted the geometrical were brilliant.. thankyou for sharing....

Thank you very much for making this video. It was fascinating to watch you. I really like the brush you used for spattering ink. I am thinking of asking friends to save me their tea bags.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving me such a lovely comment, yes, the fan brush is useful for getting a nice fine splatter, I find. Dx
Thank you so much for showing this! How stunning!
Thank you Julie, They are fun and very easy to make and you end up with something a little different, which I like, Dx
Very beautiful and organic looking. I prefer the abstracts too 😊...maybe the designs look more free?
Yes, I think so...they just form themselves from the markings on the filter paper, a nice feeling! The others are just contrived...;)
Great idea! They are beautiful :-) Thanks Dianne.
Thank you Hanny! Di xx
these are beautiful, you make me want to save up some bags & give it a try

happy weekend
Thank you for visiting and leaving me a comment...they were an interesting exercise...and I do like the finished cards...Di xx

Just found your channel! Amazing videos. Glad to be a subscriber.
Thank you so much, Kathryn...I haven't made many recently...loss of motivation...but so lovely to hear from you...Dix
Thank you for sharing this. Do you apply some sealer once finished to protect the colours or leave it as it is?

Beautiful technique Di, maybe I'll have to start my day with teabags instead of tea leaves in a pot!
No stick to the pot, ask your friends to save you some...nothing beats good tea leaves! ;)
great idea thank you
looking gorgeous
Thank you! Dixx
Love these cards tfs Di
Thank you Maggie, a different look for me and fun to play with...Di xx
Hi. I just found your video and I love your style! What pen set are you using?
Hello Kory, thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment...the pens I have been using to best effect on my tea bag play sessions have been the fine tip ends of my very ancient Stamping Up set that I really don't use very much at all on anything else.
