I heard The Shins' version of this song first, but I also love the Postal Service's version as well. I adore both The Shins and The Postal Service, there is no choosing between them. They are both brilliant and gorgeous in their own way. :D
@@danielgreene89 I know what you mean! Being brought back to an old archive of your life when you were so much younger, it always hits like a truck. Cheers man, glad you’re doing well!
You know, Ben Gibbard wrote We Will Become Silhouettes. He has been in many bands, but wrote this as part of The Postal Service. Ergo, The Shins covered The Postal Service..Just thought you might wanna know.
Great cover of a great song, with great editing and ideas :) EDIT: Just got to the of the video... and never seen such a perfect example of artistic twitching in my life! Absolute genius! Big pat on the back!
What to choose between? The Shins or the Postal service. I like the music of the postal service. And I like the acoustic sound of the shins. So it really depends what i'm the the mood for. Nicely done by the two of them.
Yeah, I said ALMOST always. Exceptions don't disprove trends. Familiarity breeds liking is a psychological concept that proves it. Whichever version you're accustomed to hearing (usually the one you heard first) you are more prone to enjoy.
Whoa, amazing video =] This cover is really different from the original, and I like them both, but as different songs. And I totally think you did justice to this song, so thank you for that.
I like both versions simply because they are unique in their own way. This version does get covered the most on RUclips, probably because it uses acoustic guitars.
clicked on this song thinking 'ey up aint this by postal service' and the 1st comment i saw was someone in major dispute about the very subject. then at that moment my brain melted pissed out my nose and i listened to the song and decided wiki would provide more coherent info than youtube commenters :)
you know this song comes with the Postal Service Album if you buy it vinyl... I feel like they aren't competing so much as they're working together to make AMAZING music
We where talking about the two versions of this song. Shins-Cover vs. Postal Service-Original.. It is a little confusing but we get high in back seats of cars because that is the way we get by...
i like both versions, but i think the original has a more fitting tone to it. i love the shins, love the postal service. i JUST found this cover. heard the original over 3 years ago
That's because this is on the Postal Service album. This is a cover of the Postal service song and Postal service thought it was good enough o go on the Such Great Heights album.
@magua4 ha yeah the day i heard that was a sad one. And sorry i wasn't specific, i didn't mean "mankind considers the shins...."; it was an article on Pitchfork a while back listing great live shows that were touring at the time. Of course, the guy could have been a raving Shins fan himself, so we're back where we started.
@VirginWithAProblem Music isn't about "scene points" man. It's what i gives you the most pleasure. Music is a form of communication that is more than whats "cool".
the art of getting by

Have you got classes?
a nice movie - the art of getting by
I heard The Shins' version of this song first, but I also love the Postal Service's version as well. I adore both The Shins and The Postal Service, there is no choosing between them. They are both brilliant and gorgeous in their own way. :D

Not much else to say.
Plenty is never enough is a great cover too. The shins dominate covers like no other.

Enjoyment all along the way. And a nice clip to top it.
Love from 2024
Great cover of a great song, with great editing and ideas :)
EDIT: Just got to the of the video... and never seen such a perfect example of artistic twitching in my life! Absolute genius! Big pat on the back!
Artistic twitching... ima remember that.
This songs makes me break out in a dancing, epileptiquesque (not a word, I realize), fit.
Ace video too. Keep on truckin' !
What to choose between? The Shins or the Postal service.
I like the music of the postal service.
And I like the acoustic sound of the shins.
So it really depends what i'm the the mood for. Nicely done by the two of them.
I just watched the movie. I love it. So relatable.
Does anyone else agree that this type of music is better than the actual music? What a beautiful era 2000-2010... Just touch my soul.

Wow a cover that doesn't sound like it's trying to be a replica. Thank you, James.
I'm in love.

Which ever version you've heard first will almost always be your favorite.

@waitandbleed18 The Shins are considered one of the best live shows to see before you die.
the shins version seems a little bit too... country-ish. It has good harmonies but I do like the electronic aspect of the Postal Service.

Oh.. I absolutely like it and in my opinion both versions are very different (:
I liked it, and I see it as an equal to the postal service's version.
Yeah, good job on the video.
I like both but the Postal Service sounds a bit better
But I love the Shins.
this is a cool cover, not horrible like some people say, but really liked it... :)
It's not attempting to mimic the original. It's their twist on it. I like both but I prefer the Shins version. I just prefer their genre more.
i love this song...
but the video,
come on dude, ur killing me.
you know this song comes with the Postal Service Album if you buy it vinyl... I feel like they aren't competing so much as they're working together to make AMAZING music
That is good to hear dude, I am going to go put on my dad's old fitted shirt and see if I can find 10:20 a.m.

that movie has great music
That's because this is on the Postal Service album. This is a cover of the Postal service song and Postal service thought it was good enough o go on the Such Great Heights album.

@magua4 ha yeah the day i heard that was a sad one. video's good, song is good, both versions that is, though this version definitely suits the video better.
@TheJakeasaurr yeah, because it does have strings.
I prefer the Postal Service version but this one is nice too!
@VirginWithAProblem Music isn't about "scene points" man. It's what i gives you the most pleasure. Music is a form of communication that is more than whats "cool".
Good thing this was released with the album then huh?
Any one realize the reference to this album that is the band the Postal Service. Look at the Shins' album cover.
i like both versions.
That's fair enough. I recently found a new kind of dance in a magazine, I tried it out, it was look nothing you've ever seen.
