Hi Dave, I'm thinking about getting the 5000. I'm a sax player also and used to pushing down the keys on the sax. On the 5000 they have buttons, is it electronic so as soon as you touch the buttons it plays? Was it hard getting used to playing it that way? I haven't seen any video's about this so please give me as much info as you can and thank you.
Those keys have been bugging me as well - and that is an ingenious fix! I’m getting the masking tape out tomorrow….

It does take a while to get use to. The EWI5000 adjust to the speed you play. After while it becomes very natural. Hope that helps
