Seen Yngwie in 2018 and he was spot on for 2 1/2 hrs non stop. Best vibrato on planet earth. Was only about 400 people at the show, but he still performed like there was 40,000. What a stand up musician. Constantly thanked everyone for being there, and he showed his appreciation by playing his ass off and done 3 encores. Tee total top notch band as well. Incredible... left me blown away and speechless for days!!

It's not the first time I see a comment like this one. I'm kinda surprised to read this. I thought (and still think) he's very much well known by the people who know the best guitarists. I mean I got to know his music when I was in high school around 20 years ago and the people who were into the guitar and solos seemed to know him.
Everybody is amazed with his left hand on the fret board, that is what memorizes people when watching him play, but the trick to play like that is in the right hand, watch how little it moves when he plays, it called economical picking, that's how he can play so fast, takes many many many hours to get that technique down to the extent he has!

The big knock on him by haters who buy a guitar and get pissed because they can't play Anywhere even in the same ballpark is that "Yngwie has no feeling/emotion in his music" As you can see by his facial expressions he definitely has feeling in his playing. Just because they're not long Soulful notes like Gilmour from Pink Floyd doesn't mean there is no feeling.

Black Star is my personal fav. He has a collection of greatest hits and a bonus live version of Jimi Hendrix's Spanish Castle Magic and it's amazing to say the least.
His guitar frets are also scalloped, I had the privilege to play on some of his guitars and how the hell he plays them is way beyond me, I believe Ritchie Blackmore also has scalloped frets.

This was actually one of the better versions of this song that is "non-album", and that's because he doesn't screw around as much in this version, plus you get a studio sound quality too. Please for the love of god, do an actual song from Yngwie not an instrumental. Those are 20% of his catalog but it's all "reactors" do. He has tons of fantastic metal songs, even some radio hits and amazing covers. Studio tracks not videos... "I am a Viking", "Rising Force", "I'll See the Light", "Bedroom Eyes" if you want some bluesy stuff.

This dude is ridiculously. I was introduced to Mr.Malmsteen by a old girlfriend who loved my classical style of playing. She said my cousin would love you and you would love his playing. She took me to his house with my guitar. I didn’t know what to expect since I didn’t know many brothers that liked to play metal like me. Imagine my shock when she introduced me to him. This dude lived in south central La and he was flipping gangster with a serious collection of guitar. Got relaxed with some hi quality bud and he asked if I had ever heard of Malmsteen. I said yea when he was with Alcatraz but never heard solo stuff. We proceeded to play from 12am to like damned near 5 in the morning. This brotha was fucking ripping ass player. He told me of the underground black metal heads. Good time for sure.
He was with a band called Alcatraz before this and I think he was 17 years old when he joined that band so I didn't take them very long to get that good check out some of the Alcatraz stuff with him it's really good too

He was only 20 at that time, and was playing for a fairly popular metal band at the time called 'Alcatrazz". Not much later the same year, he released his first solo album "Rising Force" that includes this song. That album changed peoples lives, especially guitar players. I remember in the late 90's WAY before RUclips, I bought a bootleg VHS copy of that 1984 Alcatrazz Live in Japan show from eBay. It was shitty quality and I think I paid like $30-$40 for it lol. I got my moneys worth though, I wore that damn VHS tape out. 😎

He started playing the day Hendrix died. After seeing the news on TV. Said seeing Hendrix play guitar like that and he was so cool. It inspired Yngwie to start playing.

If you want to see shredding pretty much just as good as this, search for "Yngwie live solo Japan 1984". He was only 20 at that time, and was playing for a fairly popular metal band at the time called 'Alcatrazz". Not much later the same year, he released his first solo album "Rising Force" that includes this song. That album changed peoples lives, especially guitar players.
I remember in the late 90's WAY before RUclips, I bought a bootleg VHS copy of that 1984 Alcatrazz Live in Japan show from eBay. It was shitty quality and I think I paid like $30-$40 for it lol. I got my moneys worth though, I wore that damn VHS tape out. 😎

I was always told it was pronounced with a v sound instead of a w. Yngwie (ing-vay) Malmsteen. You still pronounced it better than I did the first time.
