    “This is nothing compared to up north”
    “This is nothing compared to the snow storms from the 60’s”
    It’s not that simple. Southern states are not prepared for severe snowfall. It’s severe for us because our homes are not designed for it. Many have lost power and so on and so forth. Don’t downplay the storm because you’re from up north. You’ve had practice in dealing with it
    Southern states do not have that practice

      Exactly! Also there is a huge difference between driving on snow vs driving on ice.... With below freezing temps, salt will not melt ice so even if it gets put on roads, you have to wait for temps to go up for it to work. *Then drivers will have to be wary of wild animals on road licking the salt.... Be careful and Stay safe n warm, and keep an eye on neighbors if you can. ❄🌟

      @K. Victor It's due to the jet stream. They've been talking about this happening for weeks (they just didn't know the stream would dip like it did).

    • @jaymelee23
      @jaymelee23 3 года назад

      @K. Victor -- straight from NOAA - "A polar vortex is a low pressure area-a wide expanse of swirling cold air-that is parked in polar regions. During winter, the polar vortex at the North Pole expands, sending cold air southward. This happens fairly regularly and is often associated with outbreaks of cold temperatures in the United States.
      When the low-pressure system is strong and healthy, it keeps the jet stream traveling around Earth in a circular path. The jet stream is a band of reliably strong wind that plays a key role in keeping colder air north and warmer air south. But when the vortex weakens, part of the weakened low-pressure system can break off. This breaking-off process is what causes a polar vortex."

      Heavy metals in hair take time to migrate from the body to the hair as it grows, so this snow has nothing to do with heavy metal that is in someone's hair.
      Heavy metal anywhere isn't proof that it is deliberate, only proof that pollution exists.
      "Texahedren" isn't a word.
      Disasters that disrupt transportation has a logical result of food deliveries being interrupted, it isn't proof of targeted attack on a population.
      The guy testifying somehow thought that proof of his claims weren't a good thing to bring to his testimony. Which is weird.
      There already exists an explanation for this cold weather, which is a displaced polar vortex resulting from a mass of warm air above the arctic circle.
      "Clone snow" probably requires some kind of proof to substantiate the claim, which seems to be lacking...apart from "that looks weird."

    • @joanotoole5017

      Having lived in Wisconsin my whole life. Bad roads are not a legitimate excuse not to show up for work, plus many times you can't tell from your front window how bad the roads might be. Once you get out there, it can be more dangerous to try to turn around and go back home ( because parking lots and driveways may not be plowed out yet ) then to just keep going. This is what we have to deal with in Wisconsin every winter I realize that is not true for people in other states

      Nobody ever seems to mention that climate change is normal and that there is zero evidence that man has contributed to climate change in any way. For example prior to the French Revolution there was a period of global cooling. Eventually it got cold enough to freeze the wheat in northern France before it could be harvested. The price of bread skyrocketed and famine ensued which sparked the French Revolution. Afterward there was another period of global warming also not caused by man. We just finished a cycle of global cooling in the 1970s, it's going to get warmer again regardless of anything that man does....

    OK: tip from someone who has been driving in the Alps in winter: 1.) ice or freezing rain: without snow chains you have no change. Don't drive your car. Stay at home 2.) Normal snow: winter tires are a must. With summer tires you don't stand a chance. And go SLOW and NOT downhill! And take into account that your stopping distance can easily be two to three times longer. If this is combined with reduced sight distance due to snowfall or fog: SLOW down. On a highway 15mph can be to fast 3.) take into account that there can be suddenly spots with much reduced friction. Drive defensively. Expect something bad behind that curve or that little hill, you can't see yet.

      @Blank Account for someone telling people to learn history, you don’t even understand science. We are able to measure and predict seismic activity underground. We have seen a direct correlation between eight states that drill on Federal Land and an increase in seismic activity in those areas. We also know that earthquakes can cause new landmasses to develop as mountains forms, valleys are made and we also know that in the Gulf of Mexico there are at least three different fault lines including the Caribbean fault line that extends to the San Andreas fault line. It’s a science no one wants to experiment on because the consequences of doing it wrong could lead to one of the plates sinking into a subduction zone, potentially drowning millions. It’s not practical but probable and could happen in the course of a few million years.

      Is anyone here old enough to have observed the eleven and twenty-two year cycles as well? I'm 71, and I recall colder years and years with more snow. Lowest temperature I ever had to deal with was -27F by our house thermometer in January 1971. This was in southeast Wisconsin despite the lake effect. I recall years with much more snow as well. I also understand that the planet has been warming since the last ice age. I'm sure human activity has an effect, but much of what we are told comes from computer modrls that are only as good as the programmers snd the data. In my lifetime scoence has gone from predicting another ice age to a runaway greenhouse and back again.

      I mean if your city government cares about its roads there's not much of an issue. Here in St. Louis they at least have the busy roads and highways cleared. When I ride my bike in the snow, it only affects me when the road clearers used the bicycle gutter as a shoulder or on Kingshighway Boulevard where my 2 choices are super fast and dense traffic and an uncleared sidewalk. It's pretty annoying.
      That street must be called Kingshighway because it's about as bike and pedestrian friendly as a highway

    • @gbeana81

      So funny how perspective alters reality. It might be time to step outside of your bubble and stop blaming MSM for bringing your attention to things that you want to ignore because they don’t match your limited world view.
      This storm may not be a big deal to you, but it is a big deal for most of the country. Yes, storms like this do happen in the north but I wouldn’t say we “deal with much worse all the time”. I live in the Great Lakes region, in one of the snowiest cities in the country. This is still a once or twice a year type of snowfall. With a second storm right behind it, this is more like a once in 3-5 years type of occurrence. Power outages that last several days during extremely cold are extremely dangerous, even in the north. Most of the country is getting this storm too, but for most of the country, this type of weather is extremely rare. We are equipped to handle it in the north but most cities are not because it just doesn’t happen there. People have already died from this storm and more will likely die from this.

    • @toddohnmeiss6977
      @toddohnmeiss6977 3 года назад +2

      True, I am from Pennsylvania and understand how you are thinking, but you need to also realize that because you deal with this year after year, you are prepared for it. The southern states don't get this weather every 100 years and the don't have snow plows or salt or even ashes to put on the roads. Everything literally shuts down with just 1 inch of snow.

    • @MFV77
      @MFV77 3 года назад

      A big difference is that some people are just not used to this type of weather. They are not personally equipped with shovels and ice scrapers and such, nor are the cities and counties prepared with the greater amount of snow removal equipment that’s required. i’ve lived in snow and ice all my life. Not a fan, but I am used to it.
