Remember that the 0,40€ "pantti" on those bottles is in the price when you buy them. You don't get anything when you return them because you have paid the price already. Although if you collect a bottle from the side of the road then it is free money. That is why you don't see any plastic bottles or aluminum cans on the side of the road in Finland. And if you see one you should pick it up and return it. :)
When you bought beetroots , did you press "2"?!!! You must not! You just have to put them on the scale and take the note. If you press "2", i think you pay twice the required amount. You have to press the 2, 3, 4(and so on) if the product is sold by the piece (pastaija, riisipiirakka, lihapiirakka, pulla…).
@@ilhuihernandez Actually the number for the beetroots was 118, in the first menu, you should had picked the button 90-119, which 118 lands under, and then picked 118 under that menu. You chose number 18, which was Papaya, 12.00€/kg. Beetroots were 2.69€/kg. These new machines can be confusing especially if you don't understand the language well! I like the old types more which just have own button to each product.
@@Zarniwooper If you guys did not write about this I probably would have never known, so I very much appreciate this, and I hopefully more people can benefit from this little mistake.
These karelian pies go quite well as replacement for bread too. Atleast I tend to eat them with ham and cheese every now and then and tastes totally fine. Maybe not a culinary masterpiece, but anyway. :p
It's so sad that EU is trying to change the deposit system in Finland for empty bottles. In my opinion it works great on Finland and should not be changed. Also, I noticed you drink Hartwall vichy, that's my favorite drink too! You are a woman of culture! 😂
Salmons are usually rainbow trout or norwegian atlantic salmon, which should always be avoided. Its grown in large open net basins that are a threat to wild atlantic salmon, spreading desieses and poor genetic material if they escape and mate with wild ones.
@@ilhuihernandez I usually prefer Rainbow Trout that is grown in Varkaus in closed-circulation basins. But also muikku and silakka, sometimes whitefish aka siika.

Fortunately there are also small markets like Alepa, which are intended to be fast and easy to visit in the local neighborhood. Alepa is part of the same S-Group as PRISMA.
Its standard layout for stores since the 1970ties..to attract people to buy more than just that "milk" or" packet of coffee "as well as sweets on low shelves so children see them and start shouting about it etc etc Stores isnt a wellfare thing for your benefit, they are there for make money.

There is al ready comments about the scale and numbers. Now you over paid of those beetroots more than 4 times the real price. You need to be more carefull with that. There´s no trouble if you pay too much for the pruduct, but if you buy something more expencive like those papayas and put code of beetroot in to the pack and the register pays attention (like he/she should) for the price tag. Then they could think that you have tried to scam the register and you would be in trouble. That would be considered same as stealing and in worst case you might get ticket from police for that. Of course the register might understand that as a foreigner you´ve just been confused and put the wrong tag for mistake, but i tought better to tell that you wont get any trouble for that.
I was wondering why your beetroots were so expensive but you took ticket for papayas :D
haha i had to check comments if i had to mention that.. also didnt she say radish
I hope the foreigner fellows learn from my mistake!
I literally laughed out loud seeing that.

i see those all the time...last time i walked 200 meters to store i found 4 cans and got 60 cents...
If you ask me, K-Citymarket is usually better quality, Prisma is cheaper. At least around here.
Thank you for letting me know I thought it could be the opposite in Lahti
They mostly sell same products though. Citymarkets have more "specialities".
Nice Grocery Store and good idea for empty plastic bottle with money in return instead of throwing it in the waste bin. 👍new here❤
3:25 Check out those tin cans, pickled cucumber slices with chili and garlic are really good.
I will check them out!
You can plant those herbs and have a herb garden at your home, "yrtti- ja vihannesmulta" ( = herb and vegetable soil ) is good for that purpose.
I think that Lidl is more familiar to those who come from abroad. Otherwise there are no confusing scales at all.😊
We like salmon😎
A lot! healthy fats
Welcome. Hope you like it here.

There was one smoked sander (kuha) for variety among them salmons.
Tried Sodastream or similar for sparkling water? Works well with local tap water.
