yeah, hard to do this experiment properly because the fountain drink method, you are pouring it into a cup at the restaurant, then bringing it back to the studio as it loses carbonation, then transferring it to a glass so it loses more carbonation-it's going to be pretty flat by the time they test it. The best way to make it equal would be to pour the bottled drinks into a fast food cup while at the restaurant getting one of the fountain drinks, then transfer it to a glass when you get back to studio, so it's had time to go flat as well.
yeah this is exactly my thoughts as well. This experiment might need a do over.

I've heard the wider McDonald's straws make a bit of a difference too. You get a lot of taste with each sip.
They should also do this experiment in a lab while wearing lab coats so as to control the environmental factors.

Not having them cold invalidates the test. Fountain drinks need to be drank with ice immediately.

Only put a few ice cubes in the fountain drink, any more than that it makes it flat and nasty. It’s already cold and doesn’t need much ice.

Disagree about ice, agree about needing them to be cold though. Ice is for water and spirits in my opposition. At most, 2-3 cubes in a already cold drink. But not necessary by any means. I know alot of people that feel this way.
They need to drink them without traveling.
I don’t think McDonalds or Burger King had a fair shake here. The fountain drinks at restaurants can be very hit or miss but more often than not when it is good they have more bite than the glass drinks in my experience. And the fountain drinks will likely be way more flat after traveling from the restaurant back to whatever your location is as opposed to a newly opened glass bottle that is poured.
You can see the color difference though, the mixture on fountain is never going to taste better than glass bottle. If you look close the color is see through, its got more water to it and doesn't say homogenously mixed.
McDonald's also has the ice melting effect in its calculations. You're meant to have a certain amount of ice in the cup, they base their formula on it.

As someone who has worked in food service for 20 years, the #1 reason that certain fountain drinks taste better is because of the turnover rate. When more people drink it, the soda doesnt stay and coagulate in the lines as much (Absolutely NEVER count on the lines being cleaned .. ever. I've worked at places where they werent cleaned for a decade....). Also as was stated in the video, the soda is usually much fresher. This is why you should pretty much never drink the more obscure soda's that no one else gets.
Yeah and this is why soda usually tastes funky in random mom and pop shops that have really old machines.

McDonald's comes down to how they filter water multiple times, what temperature of water, what materials are used for storage/transportation, special ratios, the cup is engineered and straw is engineered for the perfect Coca Cola experience.

As a former McDonald’s employee, I can 100% confirm that their Coca-Cola is delivered in stainless steel canisters and is stored on site the same way

At Burger King it's a syrup bag in a box and you attach it to the CO2 system. For some reason the Nestea Raspberry syrup was a PAIN IN THE ASS to connect.

The university of California did a study concerning the effects of caffeine. They had 100 students drink a cup of coffee prior to going to bed and 100 students drank a cup of milk prior to going to bed. A majority of students that drank coffee had difficulty sleeping and a majority of students that drank the milk had no issues. The twist! Coca-Cola from Mexico is made with sugar instead of corn syrup. That's why it's so much better than American Coca-Cola.
All of them filter the water for fountains or it builds up mineral deposits and clogs the lines. That's standard fountain drink install.

maybe y'all don't realize this, but the reason caffeine affects Link differently (like, it doesn't -- he can drink it in the evening and be fine to sleep) is because it affects people with ADHD differently. it can make us sleepy or just hyperfocused: but not more hyper. this is because stimulants don't affect us the same and why some ADHD medications are stimulants.

As someone who worked at McDonald's in Canada, they do not come in stainless steel. It's a plastic bag just like every other fountain drink.
our branch gets it delivered in steel vats..it also connected from those vats

I go to McDonald’s for the Mello Yello. It’s hard to find it on the west coast but where I live McDonald’s and Arby’s has Mello Yello in their fountain but only inside and not in the drive-thru.

Stainless steel tanks? When I worked there we got them like they were box wines, just a plastic bag in a box and attached them to a machine that mixes it with soda water. It’s the same way everyone with a fountain machine gets them. 😂😂😂

Syrups come in a plastic bag in a box.
The majority of restaurants receive their syrups in bladders inside of cardboard boxes.
Used to work at Arby’s, where the soda machine has hoses that connect to plastic bags of the syrup inside of cardboard boxes. The hoses would have a special attachment site to the plastic bag, I’m sure that’s what Burger King is using.

Burger King usually has the Freestyle machine.
I heard that McDonald’s straws were engineered to deliver the Coca-Cola in such a way that it tastes better. Something along the lines of bigger diameter equals more carbonation and surface coverage.
I just mentioned that in another reply! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has heard that the wider straws make a difference.
