Yeah, it has it's goofy parts but I always liked The Man with the Golden Gun. I always thought of Scaramanga as the "anti-Bond". Both are suave with good taste, excellent marksmen and dangerously good at their professions.
Christopher Lee was a good actor but not the best supporting actor to ever appear in a James Bond film. That distinction probably goes to Robert Shaw in ''FRWL'' with honorable mention to Topol in ''FYEO'', Gert Frobe in ''Goldfinger'', Donald Pleasance in ''YOLT'', and Yaphet Kotto in ''LALD''.
Great score by John Barry as usual, very haunting! Also, those shots with surveillance cameras in mirror reflections, they are reprising the movie's beginning.
How did Niknak not see on his CCTV that Bond was changing into the Bond suit and the gun be loaded.. Then again he is 007 who can do magic shit and that........ RIP Sir Christopher Lee
@ Stanislas Houston. But the film, "TMWTGG" fails to show Bond climbing back up the scaffolding to get to the floor/platform on which the Bond manequin is standing. It briefly shows Bond continuing DOWN the scaffolding not climbing back up the scaffolding to get to that floor/platform!
@@michaelbarlow6610 I think the first shot of the mannequin after Bond drops his gun is the problem. The time between his dropping the gun and that shot don’t give enough time to suggest Bond had had made the switch.
@@davfree9732 . I agree that it is a huge flaw in "TMWTGG" that Bond is able to quickly take off the Bond mannequin's jacket, put it on himself, remove the Walther PPK from the mannequin's right hand, place the mannequin out-of- sight, and then assume the correct stance to emulate the the position the mannequin was in moments earlier without either Scaramanga or Nik-Nak seeing him doing that! And Scaramanga was only briefly behind the artificial rock-like structure before the mannequin (which was ,of course, actually Bond standing in place of the mannequin) was once again in his view!
@ julian houston. I have looked at that scene at the end of the Bond film ''TMWTGG'' over and over and I don't see anywhere in that scene the image of the James Bond mannequin reflected in the rotating mirrors in Scaramanga's funhouse. Where specifically in that scene did you see that occur?
Fucking brilliant score in this movie. Its as present and dominant as the actors. I've always liked this Bond film. There's a few "classic" Bond's and this is one of them. This was back when they made "films" and not Die Hard wanna be's
It's like they couldn't figure out how to end this scene in a way that made sense, so they decided to have Bond assume the place of the mannequin and shoot Scaramanga to get it over with.
I LOVE this scene. I also love it that in GoldenEye: Rogue Agent they replicate this funhouse and even supplied the Golden Gun. I mean EVERYTHING is that stage just like this movie, including the lifelike Bond mannequin. Although in that game, the dummy holds a .357 pistol.
I allways though this was one the best and coolest showdowns Moore`s bond had with a main villain. When I see it now, I think to myself that it would be cool if it had been even more intense. Moore shots with Scaramanga lurking around, as we saw Bond did. A fistfight would have also been nice to see, not so necessary though.
Nope. Casino Royale is the only SHIT film of the 007 franchise. The rest is great, allthough i don't enjoy Craig as much as any other actor. Brosnan was a legend.
In a way, that was a fair duel. Scaramanga used everything at his disposal, including Nick Nack to win. Bond did the same. They're both assasins, if that was out in the field looking for a target, they'd do anything to get their target. Scaramanga understood this and so did Bond.
Whats MOST impressive about Roger as Bond up to this point is that all 3 Bond movies in the early 70s were written for Sean Connery. The Spy Who Loved Me was the 1st purely Roger Moore Bond movie and we can definitely see a difference starting with that one.
The best thing about Scaramanga after James Bond shot him was seeing Scaramanga's front laiding down and going down on the ground as he dies and got to see his back as he die.

Who says Bond didn't have an extra magazine or even an extra PPK on him? PP/PPK magazines are not heavy or hard to hide and one can easily have a least three on them in a tuxedo or business suit. The weapon itself is also not large or heavy so having a backup gun is feasible, especially two of the same type, simplifies logistics in ammo and magazines. In Bond's line of work, having a backup weapon and/or extra ammunition is a prudent thing to do. Would it be cheating in a duel? Maybe. But then again, Bond and Scaramanga are trained assassins, no rules or honor in that line of work.
chrismc410 He could've actually retrieved it. That room had a floor. it looks like kind of climbs down plus who knows how much time really passed between when he dropped the PPK and the time he took the dummy's place? Climbing under the floor was kind of a silly idea though. Not sure what he had in mind.
generalcoon47 I always thought he climbed under there to hide from Nick Nack's cameras. I loved seeing the bit where Nick Nack frustratingly pounds the camera buttons as he can't find Bond anywhere
It is ridiculous that Bond inserted his Walther PPK in his waistband when he started climbing down the scaffolding in Scaramanga's Fun House taking the chance that the gun would fall out of his waistband as he climbed down the scaffolding. He should have put it in his right pants' pocket so he wouldn't lose it. It is a major flaw in the film, "TMWTGG" that when Scaramanga leans against the natural or artificial formation and then glances over at the Bond mannequin and then a few moments later when Scaramanga reemerges out the opposite side of the formation, Bond has already replaced the mannequin with himself. There's no way Bond could have quietly and quickly replaced the mannequin with himself in the very brief few seconds when Scaramanga was moving behind the formation during which the Bond mannequin would be briefly out of Scaramanga's line of sight!
Another flaw in the Bond film, "TMWTGG" is that at the beginning of the film, Scaramanga shoots off 3-4 of the Bond mannequin's fingers on its' left hand, but at the end of the film, when Scaramanga leans against the natural or artificial formation and then glances at the Bond mannequin, the Bond mannequin is only missing the left index finger!
Not to belabor the point, but yet another flaw in the Bond film, "TMWTGG" is that Bond took a helluva risk that Scaramanga wouldn't squeeze off a shot at Bond in the few moments after Bond shoots Scaramanga once! There was no way Bond could be certain that Scaramanga wouldn't be able to fire a shot at Bond in the few seconds when Scaramanga remained standing after Bond shot him. You would think that Bond would have fired a second ,insurance shot at Scaramanga to prevent Scaramanga from possibly firing the one bullet in his golden gun at Bond!
that depends on what you mean by new ones. at first I thought you mean all movies that began with Daniel Craig, but then you mentioned GoldenEye. Totally not that new. Although I do agree that was a very good climatic battle. I also kind of enjoyed the final battle in Skyfall.
@johnross456 Wouldn't be fun and Scaramanga is a hot-blooded killer and not a cold one(where he would has accepted a dead of any sort to notch his rep.)
