Those are Texas Playboys Eldon Shamblin sitting playing guitar, Herb Remington on steel, and Leon Rausch behind Eldon.
Plus Johnny Gimble on mandolin and fiddle. Mighty fine!
Met Ray after a concert in Greenville S.C. as he was getting on their bus. He was very gracious and took the time to talk to us. Nice man.
Got turned on to ya'll in 1974 and will continue to abuse my neighbors with these beautiful tunes.THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.

I graduated high school in 1987, been a fan of asleep at the wheel ever since they started.
The most underrated band of all time.
And the most famous Philadelphia cowboy. LOL

What's not to love about a lacquered and flamed black upright bass, a great bass player surrounded by Ray Benson and Asleep At The Wheel!!? Ray sure liked focusing and showing off Cindy's abilities. Prettiest smile and cutest dimples to grace The Wheel.

@@CarterG4Y Oh, yes great. Johnny IMO was probably the best fiddle player during his era. Very smooth. He also could play many jazz type tunes. The only other fiddle player is Mark O'Connor who is today by far the best (including his family!). But Johnny played many sessions with Chet which alone tells something. Indeed he was great and fit in well with AATW. RIP.
No mistaking Johnny. His nephew Jason Roberts played with the wheel for years, and now Emily is on piano. 💙 Killers all.
