The Phoenix Mercury are a professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Since 1997, they have provided entertainment to Arizona families by showcasing their world-class athletic talent. They have won three NBA championships since 2016!
The Mercury play at Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix, and their regular season runs from May to September.
The Phoenix Mercury partnered with Pal to help make basketball games fun, safe, and more accessible for fans with autism, anxiety, and related intellectual or developmental disabilities.
At Partners to Assist in Learning (Pal), inclusion means, "everyone gets to go", regardless of his or her abilities. Pal’s mission is to bring kids and adults of all abilities out into our communities. We're accomplishing this by partnering with businesses and public venues to offer inclusive experiences and by creating custom video models, and interactive, mobile guides to help people go to all types of places, from sporting events like the Arizona Diamondbacks, to museums, restaurants, retailers, and more.
Our tools are designed using evidence-based best practices to support people on the autism spectrum, however we’ve also seen the benefits apply to those with ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing disorder, and even nervous parents and their children. The tools can honestly be helpful for anyone!
