Just to give u some knowledge. Eating with hand is a scientific tradition becoz this way you make appropriate size of meals you wanna put in your mouth. We have been following Sanatan practices since ages and these r nothing but pure science.
1. In india we tend to cook fresh food daily, light and limit it to 5-6 diff types of spice. So home food is bit simple. And instead of naan we wud eat chapathi, phulka, sarso roti, puri, malabar parotta etc at home. The ones u had are indian festive dishes and dishes we make/ eat on special occasions or when we go restraurants coz its very royal, many ingredients. 2. Bindi is put on third eye aka ur spirtual chakra. Its worn to honour and protect spirtual chakra. When we meditate closing eyes we focus on that point between eyebrows/ eyes and try to make mind thoughless n breath in and out. Massaging that point where bindi is put also calms mind. 3. Kulfi is made by boiling milk for long and evapurating it. So its always thick and hard when frozen. 4. We eat starter (the first dish) with fork or toothpick.. u dnt need to eat that with hands. In north india, north indian rice dishes too is eaten with spoon. Naan, wheat breads etc eaten with hands. In south india and south cuisine everything is eaten with hands.

At the end of meal in good restaurants, they usually give you small bowls of warm water with a slice of lemon to dip your hands in and clean it. This restaurant was unique since they pour water.
You are a pro in eating the Indian way, all by using the fingers straight to the mouth. I tried best to control, but somewhere I started mouthwatering.... Too good to be there in Miami.
You guys look like a happy family. There are some restaurants in India in which dishes are freshly made on order in sealed clay pots. If such a restaurant exists there, please try a Claypot Hyderabadi Dum Biryani. You guys will love it for sure. Even Dal cooked in Claypot is phenomenal.

Thats how in india traditionally olden times use to happen. Aka when guests came home, u pour water and help them clean their hands and feet before enterin home to freshen up. Then serve guest water, food, let them finish finish eating ..and only then self eat. Coz in Hinduism its sed god exists in neighbour mom dad guests etc. So to serve them. Now a days youngsters are not religious/spirtual so many of the values wont be followed much.
