Saw the movie in 1978 (I was 6) and I loved it, but it also broke my heart😭 Then I read the book a couple of years after that and loved that, too. Such a wonderful, but heartbreaking story - I must've been a twisted little Gen-Xer kid lmao

I was so excited to see The Apothecary Diaries! It's easily become one of my new favorites. It's essentially House but focused on a girl in imperial China. There's also light novels (11 comes out later this year!)
Days at the Moriasaki Bookshop is a slower read. Really good when you get into it, definitely not for those who prefer modern language. The translation definitely sticks to an asian lit style with the moral lesson at the end: what can I take away from this story? I would go into the story with no expectations in mind and just let the story speak to you page by page. It was actually one of my favorite books to read last year and there is a sequel coming out this year.
Oh I love book hauls! I immediately added „Til Death Do Us Bard“ to my tbr, it sounds like a cosy Witcher fanfic and I‘m so here for it 🥰😍
i really enjoyed The Crimson Moth! Although it’s called Heartless Hunter here in the US and that confused me for a good five minutes 😭 but it was a true enemies to lovers rather than sort of enemies for three chapters and now we’re in love
I was also quite confused for a while - I have the OwlCrate edition and that one is also under the name Heartless Hunter and for a moment I thought Crimson Moth is a sequel.
You should read a fate inked in blood on your trip to Norway since it’s where the story takes place!💕

I became a sub box girlie for evernight and got the invocations in that stunning edition as well! But I agree it is horror adjacent rather than actual horror. Where Sleeping Girls Lie, Some Like it Cold, days at the morisaki bookshop, to cage a god are all ones on my shelf as well which look so good and I'm very excited for! I really liked a fragile enchantment. It was a very gentle bridgerton vibes fantasy read. For some reason I have never loved percy jackson covers?? But those ones under the dustjacket look really nice. The beholders is a solid read. Yess Jujutsu Kaisen!! Kaiju intrigues me as well.

If you're making a video with Watership Down, I recommend reading Fire Bringer (about deer) with it. I prefer Fire Bringer, myself. The author's research on deer shows, and you end up learning about deer while feeling like you could be a deer hearing a core story of your people while reading the book. The author also wrote a fantasy about wolves called The Sight, but Fire Bringer overshadows the wolves and the rabbits. :)

Based on the reviews I’ve seen of Fourth Wing I will definitely be skipping, I heard lots of criticism or poorly/barely done world building and in a fantasy for me that’s an absolute no go. Omg though what a gorgeous haul. So many pretty books 😍
I grabbed the audiobook for free. It was a fun time, but not a must read in my opinion. I did decide to skip Iron Flames.
I loved the Lying Game series I think I almost prefer them over the Pretty Little liars books. The TV show is very very different, like changed the whole plot of the series.
I screamed in rage at the First and Last Wheel of Time. DONT DO THAT, awful awful idea. ILY tho

I've really been enjoying books written by Japanese authors (highly recommend The Traveling Cat Chronicles and Before the Coffee Gets Cold) and I've looked at that bookstore one multiple times and have not yet picked it up...

For pride month I highly HIGHLY recommend that you read the 4 volume manga series "Our Dreams At Dusk". It is so lovely, made me cry in every volume. It explores the lives of LGBTQ people in Japan, of all ages and identities. It's fictional, and you can tell that this is a story the mangaka (who identifies as agender and asexual) had wanted to tell for a long time. While it's realistic to the struggles of queer people in Japan, it is also optimistic about the future.
Godkiller is a trilogy.
I have that edition of Watership Down too. I was surprised by how thick it is, because my tatty paperback edition from when I was a kid is half the thickness or less.
The Percy Jackson ones are stunning! I really regret not getting them when I had the chance

Alice in Borderland is one of my favourite manga ever! It's one of the few series I've collected physically. Excited to see what you think 😁 the live-action Netflix series takes some liberties that made things work better on screen but is also really good.

I picked up a four-volume LGBT YA series by Mackenzi Lee: Montague Siblings. The first book is The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue.

Love the haol! I did read Til Death Do Us Bard and unfortunately I really didn't like it. It had all the makings of a great book but dragged on even though it was a short book and had a character sexually harass others but played off as a funny joke just because she was an older woman
