I love this game I use to have it for PlayStation 2 my uncle longtime friend played and finished we just watched him beat the whole thing he beat our game The Getaway classic I played it twice bought it twice and everything British people are a genius from Team Soho and Sony Computer Entertainment for making a outstanding game a good game I love it forever I am buy it again my childhood memories I love Mark Hammond and Frank Carter best characters in the game I am going to buy it and play it again I love it.😍🕹🇦🇮

This entire game is a true testament to what happens when you take the time to do something right. If any game more than deserved a reboot it's this one right here.
Cant believe this was a ps2 game, the graphics and the gameplay were so nice and realistic. Love both games. They were about to make a getaway for ps3 and they canceled it. Feels bad man

Nick Collins was such a fucking badass. I hated how he and half the Collins crew didn't make it off the ship. His younger bro Jimmer just wasn't cut out for leading the gang. I still hate Sony for canning the third game.
Yeah it’s a shame we never got to know if Nick Collins lived or died some say he’s still alive but I doubt because at the end. We see him jumping off the boat and diving into the water and that’s about it
Mark Hammond's Story was so damn amazing and Mark gets to be with his son Alex pretty nice ending!

He's lucky Nick was there, Nick probably knew him better than anyone else in the room and could tell immediately that he was telling the truth.
And he also spared him cuz he knew mark was being used as a puppet by Charlie to piss off the gangs
what i liked you cut right when you got to the sol vita, cause the drive to get there is LONG, you would have to through three cars just to get there, and since its on the other side of london. The best car would have been the tvr in Charlies mansion cause its fast but one crash and its gone.
I loved playing this game. Shame there was never a PC version :(.

I’m so glad I still own a ps2 along with this and black Monday the storyline for these games were off the chain (reminds of guy Richie movies) they sure don’t make games like this anymore storywise, I actually played them for the first time a couple days ago after all these years (well over a decade at least ) and found that the control system in the first getaway is unforgiving takes a while to get use to where as black Mondays control system felt a lot better imo I also like the no map hud follow the light indicator system instead of following a map the indicator lights at the back of the car would tell you when to turn left or right there’s also no medkits if you want to heal yourself you have have to lean against any wall to regenerate health, anyone that’s never played these games I highly recommend, what a ride and what a story even if it was a little controversial (especially the end of the getaway 1 😬and I’m talking about the real ending not the ending the developers changed, if you know you know) resulting to the game being banned in certain countries, the getaway games were raw I could never ever sell these games, scarface is another ps2 gem I own and could never sell.💯🔥

This is has to be my favorite part of the lvl when the entire story was explained
I wish, after completing both endings, you got one final ending showing what happens to all of the surviving characters afterwards, maybe through the credits.
I just don't believe Mark Hammond could ever get away (...) with all of the stuff he did. At this point, after killing hundreds of people - including many members of the Met and whole teams of highly-trained SO19 - he'd have the SAS and MI6 going after him next. Even if he did somehow manage to escape London, which is already locked-down and heavily patrolled on the borders by police due to the events of the game (mainly as a way to block the player from attempting to travel beyond Central London), I wouldn't expect him to survive much longer.
Yasmin would take his kid to safety. Hammond probably fought his way out of London, or stayed low. Remember, many died during the shootout on the Sol Vita. Carter had the evidence that cleared his name and were against Jolson, so he could just say that Hammond died on the ship, so as the Nick Collins and the others. As far as I remember, they still had the Yardies money, so escaping the country wasn't a big problem.

@@Housesider In video games there was a possibility to "jump town" or disappear. Even though, Carter got out of the ship at the last moment, it's unknown if he didn't got caught in crossfire (unless he got a chance to swim for his life). Hammond on the other way could stay low, but honestly, it would be a better option to run away as soon as he could, though he could be a "dead man walking" in whole UK (some of the tasks ordered by Charlie were far more than just mafia work, if you know what I mean)

The PS Vita was released 10 years later. Though being in britain, iconically Britains 'chavviest' car (The Vauxhall Corsa) was sold in japan as the Opel Vita.

what I don't understand tho is that if some of the gangs escaped such as Liam from the Collins and like Jamahl and pretty much all his yards then where were they on the last few seconds when the ship exploded. I mean because there is no way they beat mark of the ship with his son because he left before Charlie clicked the detonator and if they weren't there then they must of been on the ship unless they jumped in the water.
I believe Nick Collins died, don't know about Mr Lee, but I know that Jamahl managed to escape successfuly.

Jamahl and most Yardies probably jumped off the ship when they could. Notice how every gang takes one different exit, so Jamhal's probably lead straight up and out. Now, how Mark didn't notice any of this as he left...

Actually nevermind I'm saying exactly that. Yardies got lucky. Anyways, Nick clearly sepparated from his gang amidst the confusion, as Liam and the rest of the gang got out alright while he got roasted alive. The Tongs got fucked the hardest, they outright picked the wrong way out and got lost. Which is funny because that's the way we take when we play the final mission, so God knows how badly they fucked up.

+buckn5 Yes, they are more accurate and remain my weapon of choice in difficult situations. Some new guns are introduced in the next half which are also pretty good.

I swear that if you're quick enough (and you'll most likely have to be running an infinite health cheat too) you can pick up Harry's sawn-off and the bloody thing is operational.
EDIT: It's been confirmed for just over a year that the sawn-off is a functional weapon... you just have one 4 second opportunity to pick it up and use it on the air.
Is there even an infinite health cheat?
@@burningjdm Yeah but you can only get it by way of a cheat disc. Action Replay was my go to.

It can be spawned in with mods, but it only does the same damage as a pistol.
There's something missing from these walkthroughs because the guy knows the game inside and out but.... remember this dreaded beeps when you were close to failing? Fuck so much anxiety.
They get out while the boat blows up. That’s Where it ended and they did not return for the second game as they got out of London. The second game stars Mitch and his team against eddy and his bad gang.
This mission is very painful
Can’t even get to the dock without being rammed by numerous police and gangs, it’s beyond frustrating and I’ve rage quit many a time
I never realised what a glitchy mess this was when I actually played it 15 years ago lol...
The glitchy audio and music is this guy's footage at least. The controls in the game itself is definitely clunky.

Just finished all mark Hammond missions at 11:30 a.m today in the getaway for PS2 mission 12 *Aboard the sol vita* took me 3 or 4 attempts to clear my way through the ship.Harry met his end by Ak/pistol he was nothing special his shotgun had absolutely no range and was laughable. I mean was there an actual time limit to drive to the docks because the car you drive from the gargage in Charlie's mansion helped out tremendously. not gonna lie i expected to break my controller,snap the disc etc etc....but it's over??? The hardest mission which fans will tell you is an utter nightmare...is over I've just finished all mark Hammond missions I'm just in total disbelief
At 13.40 my game just stays there. No cut scene ? Can someone please help
I doubt mark survived long after this mission i reckon that he died or got sent 2 prison in a matter of days
GANGSTER go suck ya stinky sweaty nan Carter would have gave the evidence of the jolsons been the one behind the events that day and Hammond was setup. Remember Carter's police friend who got shot by Jake told him where to go to find evidence that McCormick and Charlie were in cahoots. There was a map showing the places that Charlie had pinpointed to hit. Hammond was told by collins to leave London so I'm pretty sure he survived.

In this mission i use to grab the army tank to get to the boat
Dr. Red eye yep its one of ten or so special vehicles around the city, the tank is between Buckingham Palace and the double arch short tunnel road thing on the way to the spotted dog in mission three, the tank is behind the metal post fence that lines the road, there is a open gate where you can get it, it has infinit missiles which u can use by clicking l3

After Sol Vita explodes, the game is over... I'm guessing it's that kind of game, where you personally make Mark's and Frank's fates after Charlie is dead, no?
No there's another 12 missions where you play from Franks point of view and there's a number 2 where it continues although you are correct I suppose as neither Frank or Mark are ever mentioned in the sequel.
@@UltimateGamR Never mentioned, what happens it's up to player's imagination. Only things I found is that Nick actually died, either shot by someone or died during explosion. Also, Black Monday doesn't have Triads involved, nor mentioned during storyline. But what's funny, London was slightly changed for 2004, however whole St. Saviour's Dock is locked, if you try to pass the boundaries, you can see Sol Vita unharmed and standing. For this I recommend checking out RacingFreak, he actually got through interiors from 2002
@@KaterinUA5 Yeah it's a shame the traids were all killed too I would have loved to see whether they would have clashed with the russian gang in black monday and how they would have fared against them. And yes I have seen his videos awesome channel and I didn't know the ship was still there lol thanks for letting me know I will have to check it out

Dose anybody know why is it everytime you do a mission you have all kinds of heat on you? The cops are after you, is it like the guys sending the cops to come after you to stop you from doing the mission or what?
